I love the snark bitcoin brings out in these people. Bitcoin causes Emotions. Cheesy
and emotions have no place in finance.

seems all indicators are pointing to some other, as yet introduced, alt currency replacing bitcoin. but wont w/ever alt-currency that emerges lack the decentralization, and user-autonomy inherent to btc? i can't see developers working too hard to make anyone except themselves, or worse; their masters rich.

What indicators?

The price went up really fast, then came down fast and left us still way up versus even a few months ago.  I felt good about Bitcoin when it was trading around the $15 range for months.  As a store of value I've made a ton of money over the long term.  Bitcoin can also still do all the things it could before plus has continual work being done on the protocol and constant increasing improvements to the infrastructure, not to mention adoption has never been higher....

im talking about the press. Max Kieser, amongst others are announcing that they have got patents on various alt-currencies based on the bitcoin model. Sounds great, if you hold the patent. pretty much guarantees the patent holder is the sole "early adopter" The rest of us will only be "allowed" to use it, for a nominal fee ofc, making it no different than paypal or visa. big f&*king deal, says I.

AND...the only reason I had to invest in the first place is because I liked the idea. I like to put my "dollar vote" on things I see as good for society.  Even before the "don't invest more than you can afford to lose" rule, I follow a rule I learned in the art market. Buy it because you like it, because that may eventually turn out to be its ONLY value. my bias is towards the greater societal good bitcoin might afford individuals in a collapsing civilization. Too bad speculators destroy these egalitarian notions.
1947  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Greed is killing Bitcoin. on: April 16, 2013, 12:13:44 AM
All of this speculation and hoarding is making Bitcoin too unstable for merchants. Wasn't the point of Bitcoin to create an alternative currency meant for commerce? But with its current volatility, I personally would not accept Bitcoin in my trade of business.

The irony of Bitcoin is that most people are hoarding it so that they might trade it back for fiat currency in the future... That is what really saddens me.

if you look at world economics right now, everything is in a bubble state. You can invent a new currency but you cant control how people use it. If bitcoin can survive the PR damage of this recent bubble, it could eventually reach ubiquity, but we will have to see. The inherent integrity of the thing itself remains, its just the uninformed now think its some sort of scam. I predict in about 4 years we will see renewed trust and interest in the idea of a bitcoin economy amongst the laymen, hopefully by there could be some sort of safeguards against wild fluctuation in price. Controls on the exchanges maybe? I'm holding my BTC and waiting to see what happens. I'd love to be able to pay my rent and buy groceries with BTC and I hope that one single BTC would be worth a huge amount of said food and shelter. I'm not really sure how the community can help this happen though.
jesus my iq dropped reading this biased bs

great argument! boy is my face red!
funny how last week this forum was all smug self-congradulations and digital high-fiving, now its just a cesspool of butthurt losers. whats the matter? gambled more than you could afford to lose? i didn't.
1948  Economy / Speculation / Re: Dropping and still dropping? on: April 15, 2013, 11:07:51 PM
..if you are in this to make a quick buck... GTFO
thats 99.9%
they just wind up shooting themselves in the foot. its a shame really.
1949  Economy / Speculation / Re: Dropping and still dropping? on: April 15, 2013, 11:01:53 PM
It will normalize at around 10$. that is a good thing. it needs to be less volatile for merchants to adopt it, and it needs to hurt the short selling speculators and scare them away from being the lions share of the economy. after it hits 10$ look for the next rise in valuation around 2016 (providing there is merchant adoption. if you are in this to make a quick buck... GTFO

this is a public forum so you have to take the good with the bad. if you want an exclusive forum you should create one (irc is pretty much made for that)
I dont really see the point of complaining tho. you just come off as a whiner, and, you know what??? sometimes people you wouldn't think were very smart have valid points to make. you should keep an open mind and do your own editing i.e. skip dumb posts.
I've always held the opinion that the one's complaining about the quality of other people's words, posts, opinions, usually have only that negativity and criticism to offer, and rarely contribute anything of value themselves.
think about it. you're obviously really really smart. (sarcasm)
