19481  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How long until BTC gambling sides are shut down? on: December 11, 2013, 12:51:01 PM
They don't need to move to a tor/.onion-only site, just move their hosting/servers to a country that is fine with gambling.
19482  Other / Off-topic / Re: 4 days :D on: December 11, 2013, 12:45:49 PM
I've now been logged in for one whole week: 7 days, 1 minutes. I don't know how I feel about it; I keep sliding from overwhelming triumph to deep, deep shame Tongue.
19483  Economy / Economics / Re: So are all these people paying CGT on cars they're buying with BTC? on: December 11, 2013, 12:43:43 PM
In the UK you don't have to pay CGT on cars: http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/cgt/intro/when-to-pay.htm

If you start buying expensive cars/stuff and don't have the correlating source of taxable income, they could get you for money laundering or tax evasion or some other bullshit.
19484  Other / Meta / Re: TOR unfriendly spam policies on: December 11, 2013, 12:33:58 PM
Are accounts signing up via tor disabled?

Edit: Just saw this:

By the way: is it really a policy, that registration at the forum can not come through Tor? (or public proxies for that matter...)

Yes. It's to make it more difficult for banned users to come back. You should hire someone to create an account for you.
19485  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ElectricMucus so afraid of admitting fallibility deletes comment instead on: December 11, 2013, 12:28:48 PM
protip: trying to troll somebody in his own self-moderated thread doesn't work. (Especially if it's somebody who is accused of trolling on a regular basis anyway)

You're a halfwit, the thread isn't self-moderated at all, also, this is another person on my ignore list that people should know to avoid.

I think he was referencing his own thread.
19486  Other / Off-topic / Re: My next door neighbour continually smokes weed every 2-3 hours in his garden... on: December 11, 2013, 12:17:08 PM
Tip the cops?

Like I said before, I don't want to have to do that. I'm a reasonable guy, and hopefully he will heed my polite request, but if he doesn't; it's either a face full of piss or the po-po. Don't really want a rep of being a person who grasses peeps up to the police for smoking a bit of weed either, but this shit has got to stop.

But it is a reasonable idea!!!

Well it is if all other options have been exhausted. I'd like to think we live in a society where petty quibbles can be sorted amicably, especially when ones actions are causing distress or harm to somebody else, but if not, then the law will have to be used. I will state this to him, and if he wishes to call my bluff then so be it.
19487  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Rest in peace... on: December 11, 2013, 12:13:15 PM
Does anyone know of any good books on Mandela? I'd like to read an impartial one if possible, but also ones who considered him a terrorist and those that considered him a hero - or perhaps even both.
19488  Other / Off-topic / Re: Shit things that has happened to you today on: December 11, 2013, 12:10:37 PM
I just microwaved some veg soup, took it out, started to stir it, then a bit of potato or something violently exploded and sent soup flying everywhere - my face, hair, all over the floor and worktop. Never happened to me before, but sometimes it does in the actual microwave.
19489  Other / Off-topic / Re: Guys, it's almost Christmas! on: December 11, 2013, 12:01:31 PM
Given what bitcoin has done this year, this is going to be a pretty upbeat Christmas

Here is to many more of the same!

That's true. I'm looking forward to where it'll be at this time next year. I'm also looking forward to discussing BTC over Christmas dinner with my extended family, and if whether they have already heard about it or not.
19490  Other / Meta / Re: Petition: disable 'self-moderation' on: December 11, 2013, 11:57:11 AM
I say leave self moderation enabled as it is because this helps people like me be safer on this forum (if someone harasses you,not simply because they disagree with you, that's something else) since the mods don't seem to intervene enough anyway and I have every right to be safe online.

Deleting posts could also have a negative effect if you later needed them to show proof of harassment or slander etc.
19491  Other / Off-topic / Re: My next door neighbour continually smokes weed every 2-3 hours in his garden... on: December 11, 2013, 11:51:02 AM
Or make smoking in that particular place uncomfortable.. maybe by installing some powerfull lights.
This sounds like pretty reasonable balance between passive and active aggression. Cheap spotlight aimed at his smoking spot. Hear a cough, turn light on. No more cough, turn light off.

If he asks, tell him it's sound-activated to keep away burglars. He'll probably be too stoned to figure out why that's BS.

I think lights is probably the best idea, it also can genuinely increase safety.

We already have quite sensitive garden/"burglar" lights and they are activated every time he paces about. Save for installing a giant motion-tracked floodlight, this wouldn't help. Hanging out of the window and firing a waterpistol every time he sparks up might make him go somewhere else. The idiot has just started driving lessons as well, so I hope he isn't getting high before driving less I will be calling the police.

If Nelson Mandela is a terrorist what does that make Bush, Blair, & Obama?

So , by this comparison we don't have any other terrorists.
Should we label them by grade  1 , 2?

I'd say measure them in numbers of people they've killed, or displaced o,r children that they've orphaned.

I think the only terrorists people need to worry about are the UK/US governments.

Nothing about the chinese leaders?
One example of their actions:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Chinese_Famine

It wasn't my intention to list every act of terrorism that has ever been carried out by a country's government. What wars have China started in the last 50 years?
19493  Other / Off-topic / Re: Silkroad 2.0 on: December 11, 2013, 11:37:48 AM
What are the legal issues if your package gets intercepted by the postal system?  I guess you cant really be charged can you?  No proof that you actually purchased it?

Just say you never ordered it. Unless they can prove otherwise, there's nothing they can legally do. Anybody could ship drugs to your address.
19494  Economy / Goods / Re: WTB ps1 game - tail of the sun on: December 11, 2013, 11:23:50 AM
This is a really cool game, looking for a copy or two - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHiqhhUhQgU

thanks

How much are you willing to pay? I could get one or two drop-shipped.

was looking for 15 or so

15 what?
19495  Other / Off-topic / Re: Amazon drones, lol on: December 11, 2013, 11:19:06 AM
Yea I think they'll make it a federal crime to shoot one of them down.

Well it'll fall under a lot of crimes most probably, but I doubt it'll stop people from tampering/stealing/capturing/destroying them. But it's a moot point anyway since it doesn't look like they're ever gonna happen.
19496  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Max Keiser comic on: December 11, 2013, 11:17:14 AM

Did you click on it to view it on imageshack??

Yeah. Still couldn't read it.

That worked - thanks.
19497  Other / Meta / Re: Authentication/2FA on: December 11, 2013, 11:14:29 AM
Yeah, would be a good idea, but I don't know how easily or how costly it would be to implement. I also heard the forum is getting new software soon, so hopefully maybe that will/or could be a feature.
This is borderline easy to implement.

Even mobile phone verification?
Mobile verification is stupid. Authy/Google Authenticator FTW.

What's stupid about it? And I've only just quickly googled what Authy is, but if it's some kind of mobile app verification, then I suppose that's just as good.

I also heard the forum is getting new software soon
Roll Eyes
I read that line and thought the same Tongue

Care to elaborate?
19498  Other / Off-topic / Re: Guys, it's almost Christmas! on: December 11, 2013, 11:05:47 AM
I love the fluffy snow, cold clear nights for astrophotography and the Christmas Spirit bolstered by classical songs. That's all I get to enjoy, but it's more then enough!
Yeah, snow can be nice. As long as you don't have to spend time outside of course! But from a window inside it looks nice.

It's even nicer to walk through large, falling flakes, that land on your clothing and shine like a trillion little diamonds. Each leaving a cold little kiss as they melt! But then again I am such a hopeless snow-romantic ^^

I also love snow, but it never snows on Christmas here Sad.

19500  Other / Off-topic / Re: BTC is still $1000 a unit in my fucking world.. on: December 10, 2013, 07:15:05 PM
That were a good days, we could buy bitcoins for about 600$. And now its going to 1000+ and i think much more, pure profit Wink!

Are you kidding me ?
600$ was somewhere in November , under a month back.
"The good days" could be referring to when bitcoin was a fraction of a cent or a hundred dollars , but not last month's price  Undecided

I bought mine for £70-ish in October/Sept.
