Store Updates:
This weekend (possibly as early as Friday night), you will be able to place orders for ASICMINER Blades.  Exact pricing is not yet finalized.  Inventory is not in stock, but will be ordered from ASICMINER Sunday evening (earliest date available) and shipped out within 24 hours of arriving.

USB Block Erupters will also be back in stock at ASICMINER Sunday evening.  Expecting the full shipping queue to be completely filled within 48 hours of new inventory arriving.

Pool Updates:
Some changes are being prepared for how the database references PPLNS data, condensing very old shifts to reduce the amount of data being stored and retrieved.  These should start going live tomorrow.  The process should be transparent, unless you happen to reload a page as the data is being condensed.  Additional warning will be posted as the changes are being pushed live to avoid confusion.

Posting a reminder about coupons.  If you haven't logged in since Monday, please check if you have any unused coupons!  You'll see a green alert bubble near the top of every page (except the store itself) if you have coupons available.

Does that require scripting to be enabled?

The notice should not require scripting at all.

Unrelated:  Server is currently having a brief maintenance update to improve performance of one of the slowest scripts.  The website is temporarily unavailable in order to speed up the execution of the script.

EU Stratum servers are currently acting up.  Working on getting them responding again.  US Stratum is currently running strong.

UPDATE: EU Stratum is back up and running.

If you do not use your coupons by Monday, August 12, your coupons will be distributed to the next orders in line.  If you haven't placed an order because you don't currently have the BTC available, placing your order will prevent your coupons from expiring even if it has not yet been paid.

Coupon orders are being filled *immediately*, and as of this post every single coupon unit that has been ordered has been packed/shipped.
1985  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: ASIC misfortune: Anker Uspeed USB-hub broke down. on: August 07, 2013, 11:23:52 PM

Yesterday, as I was hanging out with one of my girls, I casually checked in on BTC Guild to make sure things were running smoothly at home when I realised something bad was going on. So this morning I not-so-casually raced home through the London morning commute, surprising my housemates at breakfast, and found that my Anker Uspeed 10-port USB 3 hub was on the fritz. It wasn't completely dead: there were short-lived flickers of light but, and I could run one USB erupter for a while but after a minute or so that too stopped working.

Right now I have two erupters plugged in to the existing ports, instead of my usual nine. I have ordered a new USB-hub of the same make, so I should be up and running again tomorrow. Has anybody else had any problem with this hub? Is it not suitable to run 24/7 like this?

I had one power supply go down out of 11 Anker 10-port hubs.  I've seen people report that it's very easy to get a replacement hub from Anker (good warranty).

i have one of the black ones where the 4-5(don't remember exact number) ports nearest the power switch stopped working. Erupters plugged in there get the LED on constant and cgminer doesn't see them. I just use the ports that work and plugged the fan in one that doesn't. Undecided

Sounds like one of the internal hubs broke down on your unit.  10-port hubs tend to be 2x4 port and 1x2 port hubs inside.

That sucks for the smaller fish... j/s

It's what you'd expect though.  Most pools are staying roughly the same proportion of the overall network, even though they're all gaining massive amounts of speed.  We are seeing *some* bit of a squeeze happening, since all it takes for a smaller pool to gain extra share of the overall network is one user with an above average amount of equipment getting delivered.
1987  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [80000 GH] BTC Guild - PPS/PPLNS + TxFees, Stratum, MergedMining, Private Access on: August 07, 2013, 06:34:42 PM
Were the all coupons distributed already? Was there a the plan to distribute them gradually, like every 2 hours? Was a cut-off order of 920 a final one, or was only the first step of the coupons distribution cycle?

So regardless of what goes on, you're not likely to make it down to order #50 with coupons, eh?

At this time, I would not bet on orders that low receiving coupons.  There is a chance, if the rumor CanaryInTheMine started is true, which is that new coupons will be distributed to provide ALL previous orders with units.  But since I have NOT heard this from any source other than CanaryInTheMine, I would not base any decisions on that rumor.
1988  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [80000 GH] BTC Guild - PPS/PPLNS + TxFees, Stratum, MergedMining, Private Access on: August 07, 2013, 06:33:27 PM
20,000 GH/s in less than 6 days? 50k GH/s in less than a month? Where is all this hash power coming from? WTF is going on? Are we witnessing a network takeover attempt? 93k GH/s with only 27,033 miners?

Other pools have seen proportional increases.  You have to remember, most of the BIG ASIC equipment is going to old miners, not new ones.  People who already had skin in the game, and as such, were already mining at certain pools.

BTC Guild had the largest userbase, and as such, is receiving proportionally the largest number of this new equipment.  However, smaller pools have also seen huge gains in proportional to their speed a month ago.

Eligius, Slush, BitMinter, and Eclipse have all roughly doubled in speed this last month.  BTC Guild has roughly doubled.  The only pool that isn't growing quite as fast (in proportion to their previous speed) is 50BTC.  That could be explained by their pool having a larger percentage of miners in countries which are difficult to import high end ASIC equipment.
1989  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3700 Gh/s] DeepBit.net PPS+Prop,instant payouts, we pay for INVALID BLOCKS too on: August 07, 2013, 01:40:07 AM

It looks like Deepbit hasn't found a block since your miner payout was started.  Deepbit historically has not included proper fees for miner payouts, relying on their own pool to confirm the payout transaction for free instead.  At the current pool hash rate, that might be a very long wait.

Doesn't it look, based on this link, that the block was actually mined by Eligius?

[/quote]

Looks like users got lucky and the coins used for the payments aged enough to be caught even without fees.   Almost half the transactions in that block were Deepbit payouts, and not a single one paid a transaction fee.

Satoshi level rounding has always been a slight issue since BTC Guild actually stores the data way beyond the 8th decimal.  I'll take a look to see why you're getting different numbers on the two Tongue.

Over half of the coupon orders have already shipped.  I'm expecting ALL of them (at least the ones already ordered) to be shipped out by tomorrow.

Fixed a display error on coupon orders.  Queue position was showing shipped, while order status/tracking was showing 'Shipping Soon'.  It is now showing tracking if your coupon order has been prepared for shipment.
1992  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [20 Gh/sec] Galaxy Mining Pool - [Stratum, Vardiff, ASIC ready] - SPECIAL OFFERS on: August 06, 2013, 09:12:34 PM
I'll give it a shot. Would be nice if I could set payout to .01 instead. Im a lowly miner.

I've been thinking of decreasing the minimum send threshold for a while now.
It's now set to 0.01 BTC.

I'm open to tweaking other parameters too, including the VARDIFF target share rate.
It's currently set to "1 share every 10 seconds" (6 shares per minute) which I am personally happy with, as a miner.
But I'm always open to suggestions.

6 SPM is pretty low.  Generally pools target ~15-20 SPM, because there is a significant difference in 24-hour variance when you start going much lower than that.  In the long run, it doesn't matter, but most miners tend to be obsessed with 24-hour, 1-hour, and even smaller time frames on occasion.

I still cannot access the site  Sad

Is CloudFlare blocking puertorrican IP Addresses? I just began using my new USb blocks erupters and suddenly, the site began showing the 522 error, but the stratum servers works great.

Try swapping from HTTP to HTTPS maybe?  Not sure on other alternatives outside of a VPN.  It sounds like whichever server you're get sent to for Cloudflare is having trouble (or your IP range is tied to heavy malware activity).

What happened to the site? It doesn't load here...
Error 522

Site has been working fine all morning here.  Sounds like a Cloudflare mirror issue which probably cleared up within a minute of your post.
1995  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [80000 GH] BTC Guild - PPS/PPLNS + TxFees, Stratum, MergedMining, Private Access on: August 06, 2013, 01:22:54 PM
One of the 3 US stratum servers had a brief outage (~7 minutes).  My alarm woke me up and I got it back up and running ASAP.

Based on server connections, it looks like the vast majority of users simply bounced to the next IP in the DNS round robin, so hopefully very few users saw any significant impact.
1996  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Question About Merged Mining on: August 06, 2013, 04:21:35 AM
Namecoin merged mining is a (roughly) 3% increase.  Other merged mineable coins are (virtually) worthless at this time.
1997  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Mining internet bandwidth usage? on: August 06, 2013, 04:20:35 AM
I know there was talk in the past about internet bandwidth while mining, hence the reason for new protocols. How much bandwidth does, say 1TH/s require even with Stratum/GBT? 1MB/s enough? 5MB/s? 20MB/s? etc....

On a slightly different note, how much data is transferred on a monthly basis for say 1TH/s?

1TH/s is just because its a nice round number on the high end of most users. Basically the max a user would use at this point...

On Stratum with variable difficulty, you should need ~1kbps (0.125 KB/sec).  It doesn't matter how fast you are, which is why the new protocols were implemented.  1 GH/s, 1 TH/s, 1 PH/s, with proper server implementation it should all use the same bandwidth per connection.

All coupons were distributed.  The original plan was a sort of lottery/grab bag system with multiple batches, but I did find that ASICMINER explicitly wanted them distributed to the last 1.05 orders first, and work backwards from there.  As such, all available coupons have been distributed.

CanaryInTheMine has mentioned in one of his threads that he heard additional coupon units will be coming for other orders aside from the ~30% we've received.  I have not heard any official confirmation of this from ASICMINER.

Question:  I notice that the reported speed on the website under an account can be much lower than what an Avalon is reporting internally.   Have others voiced this concern?   I would like to figure out why this is?

Can you tell me how you get the estimated speed and how often it updates and how long one should wait before it is showing the current speed.   It is instant or does it take some time for the estmated average speed to reflect what is really being hashed?

-D

The hash rate estimate takes 1 hour to become very accurate.  The estimates update every 2 minutes, and the first few updates are generally quite inaccurate, but it gets closer and closer each time.

As always, a pool is going to have variance over what is reported directly inside the miner.  My Avalon tends to hold ~81 GH/s internally, but on the pool it varies from 78 to 84 GH/s approximately.

https://i.imgur.com/N269avZ.png  is a picture of my 72 hour charts.  You can see when evaluated on that time frame, the speed estimate is rock solid and almost identical to the internal reporting of the unit.

I paid for mine.  I'm 99% certain I clicked for shipping insurance, but it didn't come up in the final price and I didn't see a way to modify it.  <crosses fingers it doesn't get damaged>.

M

You're correct...this is fixed on new checkouts with coupons (shipping insurance wasn't looking at Coupon units).  If something happens during shipping on the coupon orders that were placed before the fix, I will take the hit since the insurance option was broken during checkout for them.
