The BlackCoin developers have done something really clever.
a) The developers + mining cartels + some independent miners have instamined the coin in one week
b) Switched the coin over to a Proof of Stake system, constricting the supply.
c) Created a mining pool that mines other coins and uses the proceeds to buy Blackcoin. There by pumping up the price.
It is an excellent pump and dump scam. While the price might go up for a day or two, it is too late to get in. If you buy now you will end up being dumped on.

R^2 = 0.946 (amazing, even better than price-based trendline R^2 = 0.93)
y = 0.1152x + 3.0251 (x monthly), indicating that the monthly trendline average for April = 2000.
Can someone crunch the numbers and verify the above trendline data? x=64 months y= 10.4 Taking the exponent of 10. That gives me a 10 Billion market cap. Which leads to a trend line price of around 793$. Perhaps the formula uses natural log instead or something else I am missing? |

I am one of the unnamed core developers working with Adam Back on this project. (Though as a part-time consultant - most of my time is still spent on self-directed projects paid for by community donations.) a) It appears that the side chains cannot offer any block rewards.
They absolutely can. We just think that unless there is an economic difference from bitcoin and other existing p2p issued coins, there's absolutely no justification for doing so. b) They would need to achieve a certain level of hashing power.

You realize that bitcoin has the same problem, once the subsidy drops to a negligible amount? Transaction fees are one solution, or you can have the coins demurrage in the side chain allowing for a perpetual reward. (Demurrage with pegged currencies is possible, as the pegging mechanism provides friction). There are other mechanisms being considered as well. c) Another note, I read elsewhere is that. The value of the 'betacoin' on the side chain can never exceed 1 BTC. As coins can always be moved from the Bitcoin blockchain into the side chain.

Approximately the same incentives as Counterparty, which also forgoes the scummy currency issuance model. The asset issuance and smart property contracts layer is free infrastructure that is difficult if not impossible to monetize directly, yes. But there are an infinitum of profitable services that can be built on such a layer. Defending 'type-b Bitcoin' as economically viable (with unlimited one way issuance) shows a complete misunderstanding of very basic economics - in order for proper functionality as a store of value, or financial instrument (it's not the same as buying your bitcoins in the morning and spending them for some lsd on silkroad in the evening - the medium of exchange type use) - there has to be a relative stability in price (or minimally the instability has to be relatively predictable). In this case it is completely unpredictable - because you always have to sell to someone to get regular Bitcoins, but they never have to buy to get type-b bitcoins: no one is going to use a decentralized system that is far higher risk than a centralized one. In my earlier post I indicated that it is a one way flow from Bitcoin to the 'Type-B' blockchain. I listen to the podcast again. It appears that I made a mistake and there will be a two way exchange between Bitcoin and 'Type-B' Bitcoin. What that will do is essentially peg the Type-B Bitcoin price to the Bitcoin price. For example, you can move your Bitcoin to a side chain to do microtransactions etc..., then move it back to the main chain once you are done. |

Right, I don't think we've seen anything interesting so far on the altcoin scene. As someone put it, it's all a big experiment.
Today, they offer about no interest in comparison with Bitcoin. I am not concerned/interested about the past altcoin scene but rather more with the future.
I kinda hate Altcoins... but Counterparty (XCP) is on the verge of a working trustless distributed exchange. https://counterwallet.co/Pretty interesting to me. Yes, I like them as well. Quite innovative -> Issue Stocks, bonds and pay dividends. There is a distributed exchange as well. |

Hello ! I'm browsing all your posts and I saw this gem of yours: Perhaps it is helpful if I share that it took me about 5 years of almost full-time study to de-educate myself from the predominant mindset to something I consider a clean mind. I am only now able to start learning anything. I still get irritated by the undescribable evils that the depopulationists force on us in name of "welfare" and whatnot, and the feeble response of the governed, who do not understand anything, like you said. ----- It really made me think about what I am going through. I had a very complicated childhood and right now I'm slowly fighting off my 2nd depression. I've been meds free for 1 year. Running and lifting weights for 6 months now. As my body is less and less an obstacle to day to day stuff, I feel more and more obligated to take care of my mind. Reading and learning math are helping me a lot. But I am still far from the person I wanna be. Would you mind sharing a bit more about what you've studied and how you de educated yourself and why you decided to do it. How come you say, just now you are able to learn anything ? Feel free to make a very big post about that issue !  This site is very helpful for info. I look through many posts per hour. Check the internet as well....coindesk, charts etc. However, as always invest only what you can afford to loose. |
