21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero VS dalek libraries VS Particl Security Audit Bulletproof & MLSAG on: February 06, 2020, 01:16:32 PM
I am aware of this incident but honestly wasn't aware of much of the details. I just knew something went down and some users who downloaded wallets from their official website were affected by it. Fluffypony has become a bit of a crypto celebrity over the years and I think people put their trust in individuals far too much and this is especially the case with celebrities of any type. It's a little alarming to start with that fluffy has such access for this to even be possible, and It is even more alarming that Monero's team is not encouraging users to download directly from their official GitHub accompanied by the use of checksums to validate the download.

As we take our users security seriously at particl we encourage users to take their own security seriously as well. Our files are hosted on GitHub and we encourage users to verify the checksums. They are not gameable and We have a link to the wiki for such matters. https://particl.wiki/tutorial/verify-downloads < Here anybody unfamiliar with checksums and validating download sources can find explanations and guides for everything relating to this matter. We do this to keep our users safe and we have always practiced in this manner as is the responsibility of the project to do so, If Monero would follow such protocol to protect their users maybe their reputation wouldn't be in question.

(NOTE: Monero could be encouraging the use of checksums now I honestly don't follow their development/News/Updates very closely anymore)

I could be mistaken here, but so far i know Github is still not encouraged for Monero users to download their binaries. They do encourage the use of checksums, but that still does not explain how
their closed-off box of their official website got compromised in the first place and if things have been properly patched up on that server / closed box side.

Ever since fluffypony send that closed-off box out for investigation two months ago, there has been a total silence on that part.
I can not understand why they would not encourage users to use a trusted source like Github for something as important as this and I am pretty sure this would(could)not have happened if they did encourage only to use Github for binary downloads.(silly) As for the other stuff it sounds really strange and I hope answers can be found to these questions in a timely manner, sounds like fluffy needs to give some explanations as it is not fair to keep people in the dark like that when the matter at hand is so serious.

Hi all,

Unfortunately I have lost access to my old account (since 2013) so I had to create a new one Smiley

I am super excited with Particl's Open Marketplace. I accidentally discovered it a few months ago and I have been using it since then.

So far I had 7 order completed. All of them went through flawlessly and I received the items. The most interesting part is the prices on those items were suprisingly low.

Dunno maybe some of the sellers are trying to sell items at loss to attract people to the Open Marketplace ...

Note: If I hadn't shared my purchase history, it is impossible for anyone to figure out that any on those transactions/buys did ever occur

A true private P2P DeCommerse and it is already happening....

Cheers

Sorry to hear about your account I also lost access to mine, the hacker changed my email and everything, but I still had access to the email address I used to create the account here with it back in 2013 so that helped a lot in recovering it maybe try emailing here > If your account was hacked Email recoveries...@bitcointalk.org, ideally from the account's email address. Include your username and a brief description of the details of how/when the account was hacked. A signature will likely be required (see below) from > https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5089777.0

You might of already tried this but it's worth a shot if you haven't Smiley thanks for your review on the marketplace! there has been some small issues with SMSG system due to lack of network size at this point so glad to hear your not experiencing too much lag in sending/receiving of orders/updates etc. Roadmap for 2020 looks absolutely amazing also..the "In-Client" Crypto to Fiat Deposit/withdrawal is the one thing that really caught my attention  Cool these are the features needed to take this mainstream!

couldn't of explained that better myself! Grin it's a lot to wrap your head around but once you get it you can't help but love it!

Is this a decentralized privacy platform? I mean is the platform data distributed (or decentralized) around the world? I looked through your post for the word decentralized or decentralization but didn't see any. I wonder what the word Dapp stand for in your own case: "Decentralized" Applications? What currency/currencies will be used on the platform/dapps?
Well, I think crypto applications should be properly built to prevent all kinds of abuses or misuses. A lot of really important decentralization-friendly features need to be put in place first to keep the platform and users very safe.
This is a Peer to peer platform built on latest bitcoin core all market data and communication is encrypted and distributed between nodes via our SMSG system https://particl.wiki/learn/market/smsg Yes in the context I used the word Dapp I would be speaking of a "Decentralized application" Our dapps unlike the Dapps you might think of when you think etherum dapps, are just apps that are built on top of the particl platform and it's p2p structure, no new coins are minted when a Dapp is made or anything like that, each dapp uses the native Token/coin PART. PART is a privacy coin at heart, built on latest bitcoin core and always updated in sync with core https://particl.wiki/learn/bitcoin-codebase it uses a custom build of Ringct/bullets protocol built in house by particl's full time cryptographer tecnovert (here you can find code audit of our ringct/bullets >https://blog.quarkslab.com/tag/bulletproof.html)

Particl platform also has no admins/moderators or anything like this. Each network supporter(staker) has voting rights and they can flag or vote on a flagged listing to have it removed but that decision is ultimately determined by network consensus.this is early stages of this system but we have many ideas including incentivizing the voting and flagging of listings in a fair manner that is fairly abuse proof and would encourage speedy resolution and removal of anything community felt unfit to be available on the network (weapons,Hit-men for hire etc).

This is the real deal private, decentralized, governed by the people,project/platform and true Anarchism IMO! now we get to prove to the world that anarchism can work and it's not about breaking windows and burning things it's about people being responsible enough to not need a centralized entity to keep "Order". We have just recently attended Liberty forum just this last week https://twitter.com/CryptoRamble/status/1224737724151881740 and will also be at Porcfest 2020 showcasing our platform and it's first signature privacy Dapp our marketplace  Cool  Hope to see you there sir!
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the next Dapp you want to see built? on: February 06, 2020, 02:48:09 AM
Looks good, my first time to see a decentralized marketplace. I haven't thought about it since most of the marketplace needs to be centralized. I voted for social media platform as I'm really intrigued if it can work through decentralized model and if blockchain can handle large amount of transactions/events like facebook or twitter.
Takes a lot of pre-thought and planning to create anything decentralized especially a marketplace, but team pulled it off! there is still a few things like reputation system that are on roadmap for this year but have not made their way to mainnet, but these key features that are needed are noted and on the way.

As for social media network I too would love to see this built, was just talking to a friend yesterday about the advantages of p2p privacy focused social media, this person in particular uses social media only to keep in touch with family living long distances away and enjoys sharing photos of her children with her grandparents/parents etc but does not want anyone else being able to stalk her photos.. basically she wants to know and choose exactly who can see what she shares with her family.. and with privacy focused P2P social media.. I see this becoming a reality!

Great suggestions! and thanks for the feedback!

I'm very impressed with the particl market place. Very nice implementation. Nice to finally have a working, usable dapp in the crypto space.
Hey thanks for your feedback on the our marketplace Dapp! If you have time please check out our 2020 roadmap if you have not already Smiley (It's insanely good)
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the next Dapp you want to see built? on: February 05, 2020, 03:23:50 PM
It is the first time I heard about Decentralized Marketplace at first I thought it was like a DEX but I see some cart right there, I will download it later to get a better look. This could be huge in the future. I vote for Video/movie sharing I haven't seen a Dapp like that it is interesting but I already encountered  DEX, P2P forum/chat. Anyways I haven't read their whitepaper and other details. where is this "Particl" running in? Ethereum, EOS or they have their own blockchain?
Any updates mate? did you end up downloading marketplace and testing it? If so would love to hear your opinions/critiques/suggestions on your experience.

31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the next Dapp you want to see built? on: February 05, 2020, 12:45:59 PM
Affected by the virus in China, people donated money in various ways. In this donation, the Chinese Red Cross questioned and people did not trust it. I think that encryption technology and blockchain technology can be used in donations, open, and everyone can see the ledger. I think the next possible application will be related to charity.

I think the next possible application will be related to charity.

I second this suggestion and it would be the easiest way to bring about the masses attention to the cryptocurrency industry. Lack of trust is the main reason many wealthy and cheerful heart givers aren't participating in charity program in their numbers but if a Dapp can be built and it'll give donaters an opportunity to monitor their donations to be used effectively then it'll go a long way towards impacting life and creating more awareness toward the blockchain industry.

The idea of a P2P donations platform is really nice! IMO this fits perfectly with the projects "Modus operandi" I have actually thought about this a little bit, wouldn't it be nice to have a charity platfrom where existing or new charities could set up a profile. The catch would be that your profile would be tied to a reputation and that reputation would be calculated by the transparency of the charity or organization. For example a charity/organization could choose to have a hidden balance or a auditable balance they could make auditable all transaction coming in or out or they could hide it all, It's up to them, but this would all effect their reputation level on the Dapp.. the more transparent you are the higher your reputation score.

Further more it would be ideal to have some form of "proof of purchase" feature where a charity/organization would attach receipts and or photo proof of purchase which would then be voted on by Users of the dapp for verification, this could even possibly be incentivized in some ways awarding users for voting/verification of the "proof of purchase" which if verified would again add to the reputation level of the charity or organization. Basically the more transparent and the more proof of purchase given the more reputation earned. The point of all this being and the purpose is to help legitimate charities who actually want to help people stand out from the untrustworthy charities/organizations who are out to profit.

There is no reason not to be transparent if you are doing the right thing so the higher the rep the higher the chances your money is going in the right places..

Now it would be even more interesting to combine this "transparency driven charity Dapp" with decentralized crowdfunding.. it came to my awareness a few years back that there are actually companies running tours for people who want to go to for example Africa and teach English and volunteer for different things building wells/schools etc these people are paying for these tours with their own hard earned money, saving up and working and then taking vacation from work to actually get on a plane and do the ground work.. why can't we build a dapp that not only keeps the big charities more honest by encouraging transparency but at the same time build a platform to empower individual philanthropists and crowdfund them/sponsor them to do the good work they seek to do? I would much rather give $30 a month to an individual who I can follow their progress and see the difference I helped make on a personal level.. we could connect this all to video sharing/streaming dapps/ social media dapps.. I can see a brand new way we can help people help people with ideas like this!

Great suggestion, and something I would love to see our platform used for Cheesy So great to find like minded people who want to use this technology for something more then making bank. thanks!

Encrypted chat feature

Sportsbetting book

Blackjack / simple casino games

I added new option to the poll "other" since it seems many have Idea I did not list. those are some great ideas! especially the sports betting/Blackjack! I know a few blokes who would love something like this where they are in Asia where betting /gambling is highly illegal.  Cool
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the next Dapp you want to see built? on: February 05, 2020, 06:54:19 AM
I am assuming you speak of the project called DAPPS? I would have no idea TBH this is a different project to ours and I don't really follow their development. Particl the project I represent is also a Dapp platform but the Dapps are privacy/security focused in nature, the marketplace being the first of these Dapps to be built on our chain.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the next Dapp you want to see built? on: February 05, 2020, 05:20:23 AM
I hear mobile marketplace will be sort of like a lite client, it will connect to an outside node to fast sync so you won't have to wait hours and use up shitloads of data to get online, also had some community members express to me the desire to build something similar to wickr so encrypted chat but would run a market node and help support network and would allow you to browse open market listings as well as private markets by entering what I guess you would call a "view key" to access the private market and view it's products/services, I do agree Mobile marketplace first, But it's interesting to know what some might like to see next after this  Smiley
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the next Dapp you want to see built? on: February 04, 2020, 04:42:11 PM
Particl is built on latest BTC core codebase but has it's own smart contracts, this is where cold staking comes from (Invented by particl team) I suggest poking around our Wiki a little https://particl.wiki/start you will find guides and such there for setting up marketplace https://particl.wiki/tutorial/market/start?s[]=marketplace < that is the guide you will need to set up marketplace (this will become easier in future for now it is purposely made difficult so users need read guide and no coins are lost etc.)

Nice choice also I agree Video/movie sharing could be really cool  Cool ofc it would be governed just like marketplace and users would vote off undesirable content.. and basically the marketplace could be tweaked to get the Dapp built in half the time it took marketplace to build Wink it's all there just need to adjust marketplace layout to make it more suitable for a movie/video sharing app but pretty much everything else would be same as marketplace such as voting/flagging procedures.. I don't think this would be hard at all.. or take a long time to make a reality.. only issue is storage but there are solutions being looked into for this problem and I suspect in the near future it will no longer be a problem.
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What is the next Dapp you want to see built? on: February 04, 2020, 03:41:20 PM
So Particl platforms first privacy dapp is live and adoption although not overnight is steadily growing day in and day out, there is a lot of things that need to be added, tweeked, and played with before the marketplace can be considered "Mainstream ready" but we have a clear path and a strong vision and this is the direction we are heading (Learn more in our 2020 roadmap > https://particl.news/new-development-roadmap-released-b7b745b18309)

That said I thought it would be interesting to see what users would like to see added to the platforms infrastructure in the near future! as the SDK kit will become available for use in the coming months and it will soon be possible for more users to contribute to growing particl and the suit of privacy dapps it was designed to harbor. If there is another Dapp idea not in the poll feel free to comment and add your suggestion/idea that way.

Below is what dapps can look like! and remember this is real P2P software.. not a web wallet.

If your interested to track the adoption of a real life P2P global marketplace built on not only a Blockchain but the one and only Bitcoin core Cool Demarkets.io A community run website that broadcasts live the active listings of Particl's P2P privacy centric marketplace is a great option.

Below is statistics section of site showing the listing growth as a graph https://www.demarkets.io/stats

Active listings https://www.demarkets.io/particl/explorer

Here you find an article detailing one of the numerous features coming to particl blockchain soon, private marketplace and store creation, where any user can either create an entire marketplace for buyers and sellers to interact or a private store where customers can access his products and services, this is done by sharing the public key. On creation of store or marketplace a private and public key will be created for this purpose https://particl.news/the-open-marketplace-and-the-road-to-mainstream-adoption-870ced49677b

But if you do not like to wait and would like to test out private market creation for yourself then you may use this guide to do so https://www.demarkets.io/news/create-markets

yet another feature coming soon to particl "Decentralized advertisements"

Private market/store creation

Particl was launched in 2017 as a non-ICO and non for profit organization it is an open-source and decentralized privacy platform built on the blockchain specifically designed to work with any cryptocurrency. It allows decentralized applications (Dapps) of all sorts to be built within a secure, highly-scalable environment and be integrated directly into Particl’s flagship Desktop client in true P2P fashion but still capable of delivering mobile solutions.

Particl's mission is to foster a new decentralized, private and democratic economy supported by its platform and native currency (PART). All the fees generated by the platform are paid to the PART coin holders who are securing the network.
