21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should miners collude to steal funds from wallet confiscated by US government? on: October 09, 2013, 05:41:42 PM
ok, so just a question.

Lets say someone guessed the private key of the Silkroad BTC stash and cleaned it out. Is it theft?

How can that theft be proven in law today?

If someone were able to randomly guess/combine enough bits to create a h264 of the next blockbuster movie without access to the original film, is that copyright infringement?
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you see Silk Road's closure as a positive or negative? on: October 08, 2013, 09:16:29 PM
SR going down was cutting the head off a hydra. At least 5 more have sprung up. Now they won't be lax about security. The US Govt decided to get cheap press and a easy kill, rather than mine it long term. They just fired a shot in the dark, got lucky and all the other game in the area made a run for it and knows better now.

Its like trapping pigs. you dont shoot or trap the first one you see. Otherwise they all learn they teach the kids and you never catch one again.

You setup a HUGE ASS trap. feed them all for weeks nice and fat get them comfortable and then nail the whole thing in one shot.

Sometimes the govt does this. usually they blow it.

Most of the time the idiots are the ones getting caught for obvious setups.

I'd support making it impossible for the coins to ever be spent from that address.
24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: building bitcoin on unix is now a pain thanks to bitcoin devs on: October 01, 2013, 08:03:22 PM
Thank you for your super helpful and descriptive problem report. The complete lack of information about what version(s) you're attempting to build and what reasons the build are failing have helpfully freed me from making any actual effort to assist with your problem.

Perhaps next time you could be a little more vague about your problems, insulting to people who write software you use without any compensation from you, and indifferent to any benefits (of whatever change is implicated) tob other people?  ... because as is I still feel some residual desire to solve whatever problem you're having here but I'm sure from your yellow ignore throbber that you could do better.

well said Cheesy  lol.

28  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Redhash by TAV. A new 105 Gh/s ASIC miner. IN STOCK NOW! on: September 27, 2013, 02:25:29 PM
This is old Avalon tech? Is the stuff about it being way too late for old Avalon chips to ROI just FUD?

In the K16 threads everyone seems to have decided some time ago those old chips are useless/worthless now. Are they wrong?

-MarkM-

If you have to pay for power, these units will never make ROI in BTC. If you have free power, will just barely make a ROI on the 15 btc you pay for them. The biggest hit is the loss in when they ship and how long. That week is going to be 1/6-1/4 of the units lifetime earning probably.

Now if BTC/$ goes way up you'll be ok $$ wise but not in BTC.

assuming you got these in your hand Oct 6 the next diff jump guess.

hmmm something affecting Americans.... such a shame...

Yeah such a wonderful lovely government police state we have now. Criminalize everyone with a mysterious terrorist boogeyman that they created. Build up a Orwellian police state by militarizing the police and surveilling everyone. Make all your citizens pariahs to the rest of the world and cripple the economy. Sounds like a great plan.
30  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Buying bitcoins discreetly and then claiming tax return on: September 26, 2013, 01:05:40 AM
Easier to collect lottery tickets from the trash, or to claim losses in a Ponzi or something else retarded and hard to prove.
31  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: WTB 34btc - bank deposit on: September 25, 2013, 10:08:26 PM

32  Economy / Goods / WTB : Tractor on: September 25, 2013, 06:50:30 PM
Yep a tractor. Really.

Paying up to 300BTC

Needs Minimum

Front End Loader ( FEL )
Hydrostatic transmission
25+ HP

Wants
box blade
60"+ mower, mid mount or rear finish mower/Bush hog.

Delivery/pickup near/to Treasure Coast area of FL.

I am open to someone who wants to buy into a large amount of bitcoins to buy new for me at a dealer.
There are several dealers who will ship tractors. I would require that you pay the dealer in a non reversible means, wire transfer or certified funds and that all paperwork etc be in my name.

I had $400,000 worth of BTC on gox. Got that out of there as quick as I could and damn if they didn't try everything in the book to keep it.

37  Economy / Goods / Re: Come in and Trade Ammo or Talk about Guns! on: September 03, 2013, 09:59:30 PM
What is a great beginner bolt action rifle?

background, shot 22's as a kid, havent shot or owned a firearm since.

Edit: my area is South Florida

30.06 is the most common "deer rifle" round there is.

It's been around over 100 years and it's a very good, very accurate round.
38  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Letter by Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs on: September 03, 2013, 09:41:18 PM
Gold. It doesn't back everything, but still.

Fiat currencies have not been backed by gold for quite a long time.

which is precisely why there is such a thing as inflation and bubbles in the economies of the world.
