201  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: USB ASIC ERUPTER - Setup & Config. BCG Miner, cgminer & Hubs "Oh Pi"! on: July 08, 2013, 07:04:50 AM
@Neil , Do you have jaycar in NZ , http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=XC4946   I hope this hub works on the pi 5Volt/3A USB2.0

We do have jaycar, not where I live but I can certainly order online.  Let me know if you get one of those hubs and if it works or not, they look cool.

Neil

Sure thing , I'll let you know by the end of the week.

It may be a 'Pi' specific thing.

I am thinking it is more of a Rasperian thing, under Arch in MinePeon they run fine, I downloaded Rasperian last night and everything went wonkey like you guys are experiencing.

Cheers for the feedback , ckolivas and os2sam.

I am trying this ,

add pool
write config file
open config file

how do I specify time spent on each pool ?

Is there a thread that explains multiple pools set up for cgminer.
The README included does all that and more. Exciting stuff!

How can I do 75%/45 minutes pool 0 , 25%/15 minutes pool 1 , is that round robin.

I found https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=68901.0 yesterday. Pooling to bitminter and slush's nicely with the new config file.

are you using active cooling on the USB erupters?  if not that might be the source of your crashing.  (just a guess, I don't do linux)

M

Yeah. My fan only only arrived today, so we'll see if that helps, but I'm sceptical. The whole thing stops all at once, whereas with overheating I would have expected individual Erupters to stop without necessarily shutting cgminer down

This https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=51622.msg615755#msg615755    is the closest I've found to any sort of automated reconnection. I think it's for a screen thing or something, which I'm not familiar with. I don't know how to alter or implement that script for auto-restart of failed cgminer

@ micalith , cheers for the link to the OT

When It rains the power can go off just for a couple minutes here and there  , also I think the wiring at my place is crap , the circuit breakers trip sometimes when I have the heaters flat out . Its super cold in Adelaide now. Its good for the devices though.

Im not complaining at all Neil , minepeon has been a godsend.

I'm thinking another USB  type miner from AsicMiner.

Will a cairnsmore1 run with minepeon on the pi ?.

In theory yes, I believe they use the ZTEX driver (tested) but as far as I know no one has actually tested a cairnsmore.

Neil

cheers for the reply Neil , On a different subject , sometimes when there is a power failure , when the pi boots up , it sometimes boots up quicker than my router can connect to the net and then fails to start mining again untill I spot it . Sometimes minepeon just restarts , after a blackout no worries , sometimes not . Any suggestions ? .

How do some of the miners set a dynamic difficulty. I had a sticky beak and some miners are using several different difficulty settings.

The com port parameters should look like this ,--icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100 -S ./COM3 -S //./COM7 for cgminer 3-1-1

Hi Everyone,

I am now running 2x group buys at sgminingconsortium.wordpress.com.

They are for :
Block Erupter USB ASICs - 2/50 commited so far.
0.5 BTC Casascius Coins (new!)

Please feel free to drop by and take a look and join in if interested.  If you are in the market for these items, you may want to know that I am not doing the group buy for pure profit and thus the prices are (I'm pretty confident) the lowest around just for MY/SG folks only.

Regards.
Derek

Would you consider shipping one erupter to Adelaide , Australia.
