If it wasn't a corsair I'd say no. Since it is maybe. I'm pretty sure the graphics cards alone will take up about 700 watts maybe more.
202  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 5830's in stock for real this time on: August 25, 2011, 06:19:03 PM
sorry your about a day late. Apparently newegg got a mass shipment in yesterday that included 5830's, 5970's and 6990's
203  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: HD5970 new in stock newegg 499$ ! on: August 25, 2011, 05:24:28 PM
I guess I could put my money in the stock market or under the mattress but Bitcoin mining is more fun though Wink
Oh I know what you mean bitcoins is my hobby and Ive invest a fair amount into it. I just would be scared to take that big of a risk. As you buy more the chances of one going bad are quite good.

edit:
Me thinks he exaggerates a bit.

"In stock. Limit 2 per customer."
I'm not sure how closely newegg watches but he could use multiple accounts with out them knowing right?
204  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: HD5970 new in stock newegg 499$ ! on: August 25, 2011, 05:15:59 PM
Payoff on this card is around 178 days -- expect to earn around $3/day.

Let's all hope Bitcoin is around and profitable for 6 more months...

I'm not saying this is a good card or a bad card but its more like 4 dollars a day at 15c a kwh. If things stay the same (which I know probably won't) that's 125 days.

For people with low electricty costs lets say 8c a kwh that's around 4.50 a day or 111 days to pay off.

Nice! Thanks for the post. Donation is coming your way. Just picked up 8 of these bad boys!
Thats a big investment for no warranty 0.o I hope they all work well and don't die on you shortly after the 30 days.
206  Economy / Goods / Re: (WTS) GIGABYTE HD 5850 on: August 25, 2011, 02:13:59 PM
Ya ok dude... try a different tactic.

I like how you picked out only the 200+ cards. Here's a screen shot of how the 5850 sold the other day.

Next I want to point how ever good your intentions were by checking to see if the item worked it is still used. To give an example you drive a car off the lot just to make sure it works then try to resell it at the retail price you will be deeply disapointed.

At $200 miners are wasting their money. People sell 5870's at 200 dollars here which is better. At 200 dollars you're only getting about 2 megahash per dollar put in (400/200). To give you an example a 5830 would have to cost $165 dollars to get a 2 megahash per dollar ratio. Would you pay $165 for a 5830? of course not.
207  Economy / Goods / Re: (WTS) GIGABYTE HD 5850 on: August 25, 2011, 04:32:14 AM
I hate to break it to you but it cant be considered new if the box has been opened. Also a new 5850 goes for a maximum of $185 but you have a used 5850.
208  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: HD5970 new in stock newegg 499$ ! on: August 25, 2011, 04:17:54 AM
I randomly saw this too. I check the power tab in newegg and the 5970 was on the list(it never is) so I checked and it was on sale. I've never actually heard of newegg selling these at least since I got active in bitcoins around June.
209  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Sapphire Radeon 6990's in stock for $800 shipped on: August 25, 2011, 02:15:24 AM
It's because they just went on sale at newegg today http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102927

They are making a nice little profit by selling for 800

Actually they would barely be breaking even (after fees) if they bought them for $730 from Newegg:

wow I never realized the fees were that bad.

The $130 ones seem to still be in stock.

213  Economy / Goods / Re: WTB: 30 x 5850's [6 BTC bounty] on: August 24, 2011, 06:56:30 PM
those are 6850s. Good price though.
Thats hardly a good price there are 6 different 6850's for less then 150 at newegg the lowest being 130.
214  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 6990s in stock: on: August 24, 2011, 06:18:36 PM
That was fast lol. If I had the money I'd have bought one for the resale value. A brands new 6990 could easily bring 100-150 profit.
215  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Mining board slots. on: August 24, 2011, 05:03:42 PM
Maybe? but it definitely isn't cost effective because you need a pci to pcie converter then a riser. Thats 50 bucks per slot. You might as well buy a new mobo at that point.
216  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How will amd 7000 series effect mining? on: August 23, 2011, 11:23:16 PM
Don't forget price drops for the 6xxx cards. It might give us some new options now that the 5xxx cards are almost all dried up.

lol gl this time. Last thread was hilarious though Tongue
218  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: The Loch Ness Miner Appears Again! on: August 23, 2011, 04:06:02 PM
Ha! Lovin the pics.

This forum cracks me up in other ways too. When there's a tiny blip in hash power due to variance theres usually like 3 threads "ZOMG FPGAS CAME TO LIFE AND ARE HACKING BITCOIN", but when there's actually a sustained > 24hour large rise in hash power (we're at 7.4 blocks / hr currently) no one says a thing.
I think a lot of the people who panic easily have left(which caused the drop) and people are slowly acquiring their used hardware. The reason I say this is I've noticed a big drop in the amount of topics lately/amount of replies. Plus a lot of full rigs have been selling in the goods section the last two weeks.

To be honest I was pleasantly surprised when we had a decrease in difficulty but its probably back to business as usual. I expect to see 5-10% increases coming up which still isn't too bad compared to the 50% increases seen in June.
219  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: can windows7 support 5 video cards? on: August 23, 2011, 03:59:48 PM
8 x 6990, sounds like a dream come true kinda pc

how many cards 890fxa-gd70 support up to?
At least 5 thats what I'm currently running. I'm pretty sure it can run 6 but I have never personally tested this. The only way I could see 6 fitting and having good distance from each other would be by having 5 on extenders and one directly connected the mobo because the extenders are so short. The best way to do this would be 3 extended to the left then the one directly in the mobo then 2 extended to the right.
220  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: can windows7 support 5 video cards? on: August 23, 2011, 03:43:50 PM
Up to 8 gpu cores which is not necessarily 8 physical cards. For example a 6990 has two cores though even if you could put 8 6990's in the same rig you would need liquid nitrogen to cool them or something lol.
