201  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: March 22, 2024, 02:12:15 PM
Pochettino is not really performing as well as I expected. What annoys me most about Pochettino when Chelsea is playing is the wrong substitutions he makes in matches, which is one of the things that is really affecting Chelsea. If you notice a particular player is not in form in a particular match, you don’t have to keep the player, you can easily make substitutions, you can’t force the player to be in form in a match. Let me use Sterling as an example. We all saw that Sterling was not in form in their last match against Leicester City. Why didn’t he substitute Sterling early in the match? There are some crazy substitutions that Pochettino does make in most matches, which is not always helpful to Chelsea.
There's no other player that can replace his position, he's playing in left wing position. There's only Diego Moreira available, but he's an unexperienced player, Madueke is actually playing in right wing position, he's rotated to left wing position because Pochettino force him.

In this season only Jackson and Palmer are good strikers, Nkunku and Madueke are not consistent, while the rest need to be sold.
There is no justification or whatsoever to say that pochettino is not a good coach. Even if I will have to admit that he is not a good coach not when he is coaching Chelsea. Since after Chelsea changed her management there has never been a coach that did excellently well in the club. So it safe to assume that it is a Chelsea problem and not the coaches problem. You cannot tell me that;
Thomas Tuchel is not a good coach;
Lampard also not a good coach;
Graham Potter also not good;
Lampard again not good ;
And now Poch not good also.
There's something wrong with Chelsea, untill it is discovered and solved, their coaches will not perform well.

Both of Manchester teams, Arsenal and Liverpool are said to be interested in Rodrygo now. All of these teams have enough money to afford him of course. However when it comes to which one of them Rodrygo would prefer I would say Manchester City.  Smiley  It can really be the best place for him to maintain his development strongly.

He can play as a winger and centre-forward both. As there is Haaland in the middle Rodrygo would be preferred on the wing. Let's say Manchester City didn't want to sign him then the second best option would be Liverpool to be successful. I wouldn't prefer Manchester United or Arsenal if I were him.
Well, you stated your opinion nicely and it is fair as well but if I were to be Rodrygo, I will choose Arsenal over Manchester city. In Manchester city currently, there is too much competition and if Rodrygo slightly slides off form, he will definitely catch the bench. Think of it, there's;
Haaland;
Avares;
Grealish,
Doku;
Foden;
Bernardo and more.
All hot and willing to take any place at the front. This cannot be said about Arsenal where the only indisputable position is that of Saka. Rodrygo will easily fit in to Arsenal and make waves. Moreso, Arsenal of yesterday is not Arsenal of today.
203  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: March 21, 2024, 10:14:21 PM
It's not that fans are underestimating Real Madrid, it's that Manchester City have been incredibly strong for the last few seasons, they are going for broke, if you can call it that. Added to that is the fact that these two teams met last season and Real performed poorly, to put it mildly, getting thrashed, so fans remember it all the time

It was an unforgettable match for Real Madrid and this season it was like they were reunited with destiny and had to face Manchester City again. I think this could be an opportunity for revenge and maybe Manchester City won't be able to stop Real Madrid. Sometimes defeat teaches important lessons and Real Madrid realized this when last season they were knocked out by Manchester City. They have now cleaned up and will fight to win back the title they have been eating all the time.
I believe so much in revenge but most times it doesn't work as planned. I cannot also say that they Real Madrid squad that we have now is better than the one that faced Manchester City last season. I cannot actually explain what actually happened in that match with a Manchester City and Real Madrid. The almighty Real Madrid played like and amateur club, they were not good at any point in time. It was a total mess in their record, but then it is true that they can make it right this time around by staging a revenge. But will it be possible, we are very much aware of that Manchester City squad is fully informed and all the key players are not injured, how possible will Ancelotti and his boys deal with Guardiola and his boys. It is better they play the match and becomes fair than for Manchester City to trash Real Madrid for the second time. We have seen that since Bellingham join Real Madrid, many things changed for good in the club. Will that make the difference?
204  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Nigeria is the sweetest place on Earth (A tribute to my Home Country) on: March 21, 2024, 08:39:56 PM
I wouldn't want to react to all of the points you raised. You are likely correct in some while others are blown out of proportion or unduly exaggerated.

Now, don't argue if you have never traveled out of Nigeria in your life.....
How many countries have you travelled to?

Nigeria has the best whether you can find anywhere in the World...
Atleast, this needs a data to back it.

Nigerians help each other in times of needs and takes care of the needs of almost everyone (It's in the DNA of all Nigerians to help) ranging from Parents, Siblings, Friends and even total strangers....
Nigeria is not topping the list of charitable countries.

Jobs application processes are more easier in Nigeria even though there are little Jobs but the stress of getting those little Jobs are minimal.... Outside Nigeria, like in the UK for Example, you will fill series of online forms and answer series of online questions just to apply for a Cleaning Job.....
You are 100% wrong here. Nigerian job and application system is a mess. In many other countries, if you are qualified for the job, you are sure you will get it. This cannot be said about Nigeria.

There is no much stress in Nigeria....
LOL

In Nigeria, we mind people's busy and talk about people and everything freely and that makes life so sweet, interesting and easy going..... Most Countries Abroad are the most boring places to live on Earth..... Only Hello, Hi everyday and minding your own business.... It loneliness pro-max.
Minding your own business is the best way to live.

Nigeria has the most cheapest house rent on earth.... Infact, only rent and taxes takes almost the Salary of people working and living abroad....
Are you aware that things have changed?

206  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Democracy or Oligarchy? on: March 21, 2024, 05:05:36 PM
Oligarchy is the government of few people or government that is organized by few people and so if few people determine who is elected by manipulating the system to force in a person that the people didn't vote for and then take over the judges then it is as you called it, oligarchy.

Democracy is suppose to be the government organized by the people through their voting, voices being heard and the government account for the people but anything different from that is short of democracy.
In my country I have never witnessed or experience the dividends of democracy but yet we are known as a democratic country. I have long prayed that democracy should seize while military should take over the relationship of my country. But it has never happened till now, even at now I am doubtful that even the military is also corrupt. Apart from the narration of the Op where the few judges determine who rules the country. When a certain corrupt politician is elected into power, he then uses the country's resources to enrich himself and his generation and prepare them to succeed him. This happens that a very small group who eventually are cultists in a particular political party rules and handover the government to themselves also.
207  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your view on abortion? on: March 21, 2024, 04:48:53 PM

As the society grows and the need to control the population of people becomes an important topic of discussion, what was looked at by the majority of the society as taboo has gradually turned to a normal occurrence.

Countries now do so many things to control the number of children a couple is allowed to have and the rate of abortion is increasing by the day.

Although some society and religion strictly kicks against it and victims are punishable by the laws of some societies, that hasn't stopped people from taking part in it

While Some don't even see it as anything bad, some feel undergoing abortion is same as taking a life and the culprit should be subject to punishment.

With so many thought process regarding this topic, whats your take on abortion?
When will come to technology, many things that were considered evil by some people and some certain organization or religion as letter on becomes something of necessity to them. You remember the early days of television that a certain Christian church even called television the art of witch craft whereby no member of their church has television. But today that same church conduct their Sunday services and other activities online while the members stream and watch them. This is so applicable in some certain beliefs and that is why some persons do not make their laws so rigid such that it can never be changed.

So many countries which have believed that abortion is punishable in the past have changed their laws to accommodate abortion in a legal way. When a pregnancy is totally unwanted it could be nice to terminate such pregnancy in the early stage where it is  blood rather than to allow it develop into a baby who will turn to a full grown adult to terrorize the society one day because of lack good parental upbringing. Every country has their laws and it is best to abide by the law of your own country.

After Everton received a penalty followed by Notingham Forest, I look forward to how Man City will do in 115 cases. It seems that this is going very slowly, but indeed if you look at the very large number of cases and connecting in the past year I think it is natural that the process is quite long. Here I obtain details of the case under investigation. You can read the article on this web.  https://www.football.london/arsenal-fc/news/man-city-list-ffp-charges-28841373
Please can you tell me the offence and punishment of Nothingham Forest. It seems I am not updated with the happenings in the English premier league. I will go check the table now if anything has happened to their points.

For Manchester city case, we acknowledge that Manchester city is a big fish and the financial budget is always huge, so it will take time to uncover everything that has happened to them. Again, they were champions, so time will be taken to determine to rip them the title. Not an easy task.
209  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: March 20, 2024, 11:20:04 PM
There are bad news for Bayern Munich about there goalkeeper Manuel Neuer , as he got today injured in the training with the German National Team.
He already leaved the National Team and was going back to Bayern Munich with an torn muscle fiber.
So its possible that he maybe will be missed in the next game against Dortmund in Munich.
Manuel Neuer has had big figure of appearances with Bayern Munich. The team is very much acquainted with him, especially the defence. So, it was difficult for them to cope the first surgery that Neuer went. They had to manage the situation, so I guess they have gotten somehow used to playing without him.

However, the experience and chemistry of Manuel Neuer with the team is top notch and that is why the teams needs him almost in every match. I doubt he will be available for their champions league clash with Arsenal. It will be a bigger loss if he isn't available for that fixture. Also, this is a warning for Bayern to start making a succession plan for Manuel Neuer.
210  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: March 20, 2024, 11:10:21 PM
Actually, there are 3 favorite teams to win the UCL trophy. We have Bayern Munich besides Man City and Real Madrid. We don't forget that Bayern Munich is also a strong team and they often has a good history in UCL. It is very unfortunate that among these teams, 2 of them must fight in the current round. People expect that those 3 teams will be in the semi-final round at least.
Bayern Munich, this season is completely in shambles. I don't even think they will go past Arsenal if the form turns up on a good day. Real Madrid has to tussle it out with Manchester City, whoever wins in that match is most likely reaching the final and probably winning this year's title.
I am also surprised that he mentioned Bayern Munich as among the title contenders. It is right to believe that everyone that qualified to the round of 8 is a title contender. But for Bayern Munich under Thomas Tuchel, I have never regarded them as being formidable. I believe the club is lossing that aura of German Machine in them. The Bundesliga title they won last season was just narrowly stollen from Dortmund and from that time there's no significant improve in their play style. Even if Bayern Munich will struggle to go past Arsenal, which I am not sure, they will likely not succeed in the next round.
211  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: March 19, 2024, 04:59:47 PM
Watching Manchester United eliminating Liverpool from the FA Cup quarterfinals really surprising in the eyes of everyone, Liverpool had the higher number of votes for winning but failed. Why points blaming fingers to Jurgen Klopp? He's not the faulty one because his players had the opportunities of netting goals but failed to deliver due to their incompetent performance. They're unable to reach the winning phase and got eliminated in the final minutes of extra time. Liverpool performance was strictly based on their outstanding form, they had the principles and possession required, what happen?
No one is to blame because Liverpool did their best and their performance was as usual in this match, but it's just that luck was not on their side, this is a normal result in football.
Playing at Manchester United's home ground certainly won't be easy for Liverpool and even though Liverpool are favorites in this match, the meeting between the two teams was full of prestige, causing high match tension.

I won't take this too seriously, Manchester United are a top team so it wouldn't be a big surprise if they won this game.
If not that Manchester United started to perform relatively poor this time around, will it be surprising to anyone that Manchester United was able to beat Liverpool? I will not agree that the performance of Liverpool was poor in that very match which is the reason why Manchester United defeated them. I will not also blame the Liverpool coach as many of you have done a both because he has done excellently well and we continue to do well as long as he remains the coach of Liverpool. He is used to the boys and the boys are used to his system. The only thing that happened in that Manchester United versus Liverpool FA Cup meeting is that the Manchester United coach took some extra steps to ensure that he's still performed greatly. It seems that he prepared for it more than Gurgen Klopp did and secondly Manchester united players were all committed to come out victorious and the result favoured them.

the fight, Arsenal - Manchester for first place continue
Glad you arranged the table nicely with the forum BBcodes. Kudos to you. I will like to discuss the EPL table, that is why I quoted it. My emphasis is on;
  • Top 3
  • Aston Villa
  • Chelsea
  • and Bottom 3
Interestingly, the top 3 of the championship last season is the bottom 3 of the EPL this season and they might likely all get relegated. Has it happened before in EPL? I think in the recent time, one or two of the newly promoted clubs tend to remain in EPL after the first season.

Aston villa is likely to take the place of Newcastle United this season and represent in the champions League.
Finally, Chelsea FC is just too mysterious. They have young and vibrant players, they have a good coach and yet they are still at the 11th position while the season is fast ending.
213  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin becoming Legal tender on: March 16, 2024, 09:14:27 AM
I have been pondering on the motion of making bitcoin a legal tender, if bitcoin becomes legal tender, it can be used in place of fait currency to purchase goods, used  for transactions,etc.
      For me, making  bitcoin will take years because that motion will never be assigned by our financial institutions and central banks. The main reason is what we call;
You said about pondering on the motion of making bitcoin a legal tender. You speak as if the whole country is controlled by just one government and if eventually that government accepts bitcoin as a legal tender it becomes a universal thing. It is not done so there is no how you will get China into this business and also get US into the business Russia and every other country to eventually make Bitcoin a legal tender. What is a legal tender in one country might not be a legal tender in another country. So that is just the fate of Bitcoin. Some countries will love bitcoin and welcome it why some other countries with dislike it and fight against Bitcoin. But in whatsoever happens I am not that interested of Bitcoin being a legal tender but let every country give bitcoin a legitimate status to operate I am okay with that. Bitcoin exist and fiat exist.
214  Other / Politics & Society / Re: POLITICS AND LIES on: March 16, 2024, 08:31:04 AM
It is looking like telling lies is the prerequisite of becoming a politician. As a matter of fact, there is a way you will tell lies that people will start suspecting you to be a politician.  How we get to this point in human history is what no one can explain.
I don't know about your country but in my country, politicians buy over media empires to sell lies and propaganda to the public... I know this is not peculiar to my country. This may be the reason there is a growing distrust between the leaders and the followers.

But is politics supposed to really be about lies? Why is the polity dominating by propaganda?
In this your post I have successfully extracted two points which is peculiar to politicians all over the world and I am going to discuss them this;
  • Buying over the media: every government no matter how small or how big do not joke with its media. It is through the media the communicate with the people and whatever information that is given the people from the media is what they will believe. So every government has the media in their palm. Even as big as CNN you will understand that they are not without the government influence. With the media in the side of the government they will tell you only what they want you to hear
  • About the lies. I have nothing to say. Anyone who mutilates information is a liar. We can just say that the government misinform the public.
215  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Politicians and false humility on: March 16, 2024, 07:41:32 AM
Politician turn out to be the most humble people on earth when they are looking for power. They make all source of fake promises to solicite the support of the people but when they succeed after election they will start to see themselves like God betraying all the people that sacrifice everything to ensure they are in power.
Politicians are suppose to replicate the humility they exhibit during campaign after winning election but instead they became so rude and arrogant to their supporters.
I am so in love with the title of the topic you created, it is so precise and realistic. The false humidity of politicians in the society is very much evident to everyone to see but what happens is that during the time of this campaign and fake promises they tend to blind the ignorant public with ill gotten wealth. They bury their pride and ego just to resurrect them after winning. They hire experts in lies to fabricate manifesto to decieve the general public. This is worse in African countries. I am typing as a Nigerian. It is sad to understand that our present leader or president is not the choice of the people. The dead conscience and corrupt system imposed him on us even after we rejected him during election. It is so bad that the people has lost their power to elect who they want. The corrupt calcus impose whoever they wish on the people because they have infiltrated both the judiciary and legislature.The hope of the common man is lost in Nigeria.

I don't like posts that lay emphasis on signature campaign as the reason for the forum being active.  I don't think the presence of signature campaigns is detrimental to anyone in the forum.
It’s worth noting that boards where signature is disabled such as Serious discussion and Ivory Tower also have traction as much as other boards on the forum. Signature campaigns play a significant role in generating traffic on the forum and I also don’t support the notion that campaigns are detrimental to the forum.
Not at all. Sometimes when some users run out of what to discuss, you see them bringing up controversial issues to be discussed. From the body signal, nothing will happen to signature campaign in this forum, as long as the forum exists, it will likely exist along with signature campaigns.

I don't like posts that lay emphasis on signature campaign as the reason for the forum being active.  I don't think the presence of signature campaigns is detrimental to anyone in the forum.
I think the scarcity of signature campaign can be a motivation for forum members to improve post quality and get merits so they stand a better chance of getting accepted into good campaigns when the opportunity comes.
In the other hand, it could be a demoralization that since there's no available campaign to hire me, why struggle to make quality posts. You never can tall how people approach matters.

Quarter final draw is here:

https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1768613352823992424/photo/1

Tell us your favorites in this round.
The easiest matchup in the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals seems to be the Liverpool-Atalanta matchup. The fact that Liverpool beat Sparta Prague in the cat field makes this match seem comfortable for Liverpool. Among the other matchups, the one that interests me the most is the Roma-Milan match. It will be exciting to see the fight between two Italian teams. Even though things are going well in the league for Xabi Alanso, we saw that he had difficulty and was stunned against Karabakh in the European league. West Ham is a strong English team, it is difficult to predict what kind of result will come from here.
The current fixture of the Europa League is interesting but it is looking like more interesting fixture will happen in the coming rounds. This is because we have in mind that Bayern Leverkusen might likely meet Liverpool and if this happens, many people will see it differently.

I don't think that the fixtures was fair to Western united. Right from last season, they have been persistent and trying their best to penetrate the the market.
218  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: March 15, 2024, 11:24:38 PM
The draw for the double legged quaterfinals of UEFA champions league is out and here are my predictions.

Arsenal vs Bayren Munich
This is a hard one to predict. They have been quite different from the last time they met. I'll bet on Bayren Munich as German playing style dominates over English.

easy prediction can be seen from the last 3 meetings in the champion league. bayern munchen always wins with a very landslide score of 5-1. as well as this match which brings together bayern munchen again with arsenal in the quarter-finals. i think bayern munchen will win easily. even though the coach has a bad performance until he has ended his cooperation with bayern munchen at the end of the season.
I do not actually blame you if you make such a statement in a match between Bayern Munich and Arsenal. This is because over the years Bayern Munich has been winning Arsenal in every Champions League draws. In fact he did not even get the signature score line that has always been in their meeting which is 6 - 1. But I still maintain that the Arsenal of that time is not the Arsenal we have today. Arsenal Wenger was barely maintaining his position in the top four of the English Premier League while today Michel Arteta is trying to win the English Premier League itself. The midst of the coaches are different and as well as the individual players. Also Tuchel Thomas is not that a great coach, this could be time for the revenge.
219  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Season on: March 15, 2024, 10:02:26 PM
Bayer Leverkusen will eliminate West Ham United first, then AC Milan and reach the final. On the other side, Liverpool and Benfica will reach the semi-finals, with Liverpool playing in the final. Bayer Leverkusen will win the cup. This is my realistic prediction. Emotionally I would like Marseille to win the cup, but the other teams look stronger. If Bayer Leverkusen win this cup, they can even make a treble. The way they are playing, I see them as the favorites.
I can also agree with you that Bayern Leverkusen will make it to the Europa league final. Their performance is too notch and if they continue like this I don't think there is any team that will stop them until they get to the final. I am see a potential final between Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen. It will be an epic final, but that's only my opinion as it's not yet certain that the both teams can make it to the final. Many people are seeing Liverpool draw with Atlanta as an easy one for Liverpool, but the game won't be as easy as many people are anticipating.
After viewing the Champions League draws I was somehow excited that I forgot that the Europa League draws will follow almost immediately. When I suddenly became aware of the Europa League draws I had to rush to check if Bayer leverkusen was drawn to play against Liverpool but I was happy when I discovered that it did not happen so. It will be so marvelous to understand that Liverpool could likely meet Bayer Leverkusen in the finals if actually both teams scales through. If this happens it means that we could have an Europa League finals that is even going to be better than the Champions League finals.

I am surprised how some people are underrating Liverpool that they will not win against Bayern Leverkusen if the actually meet in the finals. They have actually forgotten how dangerous they Liverpool team could be and also remember that Liverpool is a Champions League team and not an Europa League team and finally the Liverpool coach is going to leave the club after this season so he must give them a trophy before going.

Arsenal vs Bayren Munich
This is a hard one to predict. They have been quite different from the last time they met. I'll bet on Bayren Munich as German playing style dominates over English.
We should better not look the way of history here because if we do, it will not be funny with Arsenal.  As far as CL is concerned,  Arsenal doesn't have any good record against Bayern Munich.  It happened to to extent that during draws, Arsenal will pray that they shouldn't meet Bayern Munich but their prayers are never answered.
However, currently I feel that Arsenal team is more formidable than Bayern Munich.

Real Madrid vs Manchester City
This one too is going to be a great game. Again I believe the physical playing style of Real Madrid and their legacy on champions league would favor them over Manchester City,
I actually do not want to remember the last meeting between Real Madrid and Manchester City,  it is scary on the side of Real Madrid.
