201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EXCHANGE] Poloniex - Crypto Exchange with BTC/NXT on: June 25, 2017, 09:02:48 PM
Yes Poloniex is not your pen pal.  Shocked
202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EXCHANGE] Poloniex - Crypto Exchange with BTC/NXT on: June 25, 2017, 08:19:33 PM
Well ETH deposit made days ago finally made it to POLO.  Withdrawals went well and fast.  Support never answered ticket lol but hey cant win em all

Yes Poloniex is not wasting time to answer letters - they do the job and let you figure out they have done their job.  Grin
203  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Poloniex - any way of getting my money back? on: June 25, 2017, 07:12:27 AM
The ethereum network faced some major issues lately so it's very likely that the exchange isn't at fault here but likely the currency's infrastructure. Be a little patient and staff of the exchange will likely review your issue if you're persistent. Poloniex doesn't have a reputation of being scammers.

Noone gets the reputation of being a scammer before actually becoming a scammer! Cheesy

Hmmm... They were hacked and they returned the money to the customers in 2014.
I bet Poloniex has less than 5 people working (excluding the moderators of trollbox that have been transfered to other positions).

They make a lot of money on transaction fees on daily basis so rationally it is in their best interest to act well. They have a lot to lose.

Personally I have not had any serious issues with Poloniex (although the site is a bit clumsy).
204  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: June 22, 2017, 10:17:30 PM

That's a good news. Definetely a hard wallet is something that is needed.
Personally I am a big fan of my nice white Trezor and if some other company will announce a Monero hardware wallet, I will definitely get one (assuming it is a reliable one).
205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: June 22, 2017, 07:17:24 AM
By the way, how the holy fuck can you not know what Bytecoin is?

He's been trolling this thread for years and still doesn't know Monero's history.

Then he talks about the professionalism of Dash as a 'Corporation' compared to that of Monero.

I used to think he was just greedy and unconcerned with the goals or purpose of cryptocurrency. Now it appears I've been giving him too much credit.

Hello Troll,

You are desperately shilling people not to sell close to the ATH bitcoinwise.

Best regards,
TrueCryptonaire
206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: June 22, 2017, 07:16:12 AM
Dash is a professional project that have people working for it and they get paid, so what?

Monero is guys trading with Aminorex and circle jerking each other and nobody gets paid [...]

Good point. Evan has to pay people to work on Dash, whereas Monero attracts contributors because the project is actually interesting.

Eeeeeeh, nope...?

Which one do you think is more solid business: A business that pays salaries and have regular contributions, and an ongoing marketing team preaching the good news or something that relies entirely on volunteering?
You know, the contributors need their daily bread so rationally they should not sacrifice more time for free than for paid hours... After all, the volunteering benefits more the community than the individual even if the individual have a stake of the pie.
207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: June 21, 2017, 04:45:25 PM

What is the issue with premine/instamine etc?

LOL.  Just LOL

I do not get it despite I have tried to understand it for a couple of years.....

Perhaps my IQ of over 100 of under 80 is not capable to grasp the problem with it....?

FTFY  Cheesy

Are these all the arguments you can give against premines, instamines etc?
208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: June 21, 2017, 04:01:29 PM
Dash has a community, and bear in mind, the sign of the community is not how many trolls are writing online.

Dash has the community equivalence of a freeway service area. That is to say on the surface it has the look and feel of a small town, but when you actually take a look around, the majority of its 'citizens' are either there temporarily (speculators) or simply are employees paid to be there; to operate the gas pumps, to keep the tiny streets clean, the logos polished, and the coffee and donuts flowing with a smile. It has no actual genuine citizens.

Monero on the other hand has the population of a small city. It isn't a product or a corporation. People are not being paid to live here. Sure it can be a little bit dirty at times. But it is is a movement defined by the enthusiasm of it's underlying social fabric, the political protections of it's underlying technological fabric, and the potential opportunities afforded by its speculative fabric.

You can't compare a product to a movement. It would be like comparing McDonalds to the US Constitution.

Dash is a professional project that have people working for it and they get paid, so what?

Monero is guys trading with Aminorex and circle jerking each other and nobody gets paid (perhaps Aminorex and a few others that are trading on Poloniex). Nothing wrong with people buying/selling from/to Aminorex but besides 1-2 vendors having occassional sales on Alphabay with Monero (probably annually 10-20 K usd worth of illegal stuff sold in Monero?) the usage of Monero is very limited.

I think buying FUCKs from Risto on Crypto Kingdom is bigger use case of Monero than buying stuff on Alphabay - correct me if I am wrong here. Does anyone have any statistics how much there is FUCKs selling on annual basis...?
209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: June 21, 2017, 03:02:48 PM

Dash - A good coin, very professional community and a good business plan.

Read this

tl;dr

What is the issue with premine/instamine etc?
You guys all the time are busy calling out those mines but what is the problem exactly with that? I do not get it despite I have tried to understand it for a couple of years..... Perhaps my IQ of over 100 is not capable to grasp the problem with it....?
AFAIK, Warren Buffet buys most of his investments secondary markets after the insta/premine of the stocks...?

Dash - A good coin, very professional community and a good business plan.

that's just wrong... have you been on the dash-subreddit, or in their slack channel... they're just echo-chambers... Dash has almost no community except their paid for fanboyz

Dash has a community, and bear in mind, the sign of the community is not how many trolls are writing online.
When it comes to professionalism, Dash is in the level of Corporation when you compare it to Monero which is in the level of boiz playing in the garage and tuning their four-wheels. The fact that they have a marketing department on its own is a sign it is like a solid business.
The fact that they are able to pay for a marketing is exactly the sign of professionalism and that they take seriously the user-adaption.

Every troll in this thread (except me) is an echo-chamber - just look at the amount of circle jerking taking place here when I am absent.  Roll Eyes
211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: June 21, 2017, 07:02:34 AM
My speculation is that xmr will continue its steady longer term appreciation trend, with much less significant volatility than other leading crypto (BTC, ETH).  In the long run, XMR will appreciate significantly more than BTC, as it's use cases are greater, and the current valuation is 50x lower.

Depending on your criteria, you might deem various issues as "leading crypto" but market cap per se is clearly meaningless.  Bytecoin, dash, zcash and ripple are prime examples of that meaninglessness, for distinct reasons with similar implications, i.e. in each case the cap far exceeds the float - liquidity stinks, and every "greater fool" that comes along is just burying themselves under a deeper and deeper creaking overhang.  I do not deem any of these four in particular to be in the class of "leading crypto".  I still hope for a fair community launch of a zksnark crypto (or the incorporation of zksnarks into xmr.)

ETH is definitely leading crypto, but can't be classed as a monetary asset per se.  It is also heading for a legal and social catastrophe at an ever accelerating pace.  I much prefer the tortoise-style victory to which Monero is iterating, steering far clear of the snake oil and Ponzi complexes that besmirch the very concept of crypto.  The political and governance risks of XMR seem clearly to be much less than those of either BTC or (most especially) ETH.

Bytecoin - I do not know. Sounds just another coin, Monero is a fork from it?

Dash - A good coin, very professional community and a good business plan.

Zcash - Probably will take over Monero in terms of marketcap

Ripple - used by the banks, banks have money, has bright future.

ETH - No direct rival to Monero. Different type of an asset and thanks to amtitious and apparently hardworking Vitalik who enjoys apparently hotel living it will have bright future as well. One of the big regrets I did not invest in the crowdsale. Even a smallish investment worth now million usd. Unless bitcoin will not get a major pump any time soon and stay new highs, chances are ETH will become the largest crypto.
212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: June 20, 2017, 07:17:59 PM
What is the long term prediction for monero? It is the oldest anonymous currency used on darknet markets. Will zcash replace it? Is it wise to hold monero for a few years or will it be obsolete by then? Please comment if you are holding long term. In a few years zcash, zcoin and others, even bitcoin could make monero seem clunky and old. Opinions please

Don`t think Zcash will replace it ... afaik you will ALWAYS need to use the public-chain t-adresses to use Zcash at an exchange, and if your coins come from z-adresses the exchanges just might block them like coinbase does for bitcoin.

Perhaps not technologically Zcash will not replace Monero.
However, marketcapwise it is pretty much the matter of time unless someone of us decides to significiantly increase his/her position in Monero. New adaption hardly will come as there is no outreach.
213  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Poloniex withdrawal problems on: June 20, 2017, 07:08:57 PM
Withdrew a substantial amount of bitcoins (within my daily limits of course), took a few minutes extra and everything went fine, just got the 1st confirmation.
Overall, it was in the pending state like 15-20 minutes, and judging from the hot wallet, the withdrawals are being processed on regular basis (anyone can find this information as bitcoin addies are public).

Is anyone else having trouble canceling loan offers in the Lending tab? I've submitted a ticket for it, but would be helpful to know whether others are experiencing the same problem.

I know things must be busy for them, let's hope they can safely get on top of the situation soon.

Also, sometimes I've noticed that the loan was taken before it disappears from the Open Loans and if I try to cancel it, it is too late and after a short while it appears to active loans -section with some interest accured.

---

I find the best way to solve the issue to refrain from using auto-renew and manually setting loans to the markets when there is bitcoins available.

Thanks guys; unfortunately these suggestions are not working. I try restarting the browser, etc., and that did not fix it. I'm not using Auto-renew, and it doesn't matter whether the loan offers are being made by a lending bot or manually, NOTHING is canceling. The only way to "process" the loan offers is to have them taken up by a borrower.

I've got a 5% loan offer on some LTC (set by a lending bot, my intent being to cancel out for a trade once the old loan ended) that I can't cancel. But I've been testing things with a steady flow of small BTC loans as other loans are ending and nothing can be canceled right now once set.

Poloniex responded quickly to the ticket which was a surprise - unfortunately they completely misread it and thought I was asking to cancel an existing loan. :-(

Strange, to me this has never happened like this...
The only issue I had with lending was the loans were overdue like 1-2 months ago but they solved the issue within 6 hours or so.

Soon they should be improving the overall user experience as the trollbox staff is assisting the support staff.

Yes I think Poloniex is making way too much money on everything that they have a lot to lose here.
They have a huge influx of users and are in the process of hiring people (according to their previous announcement) and it takes time to hire staff + train them.
If you guys know anything about corporate recruiting, it takes like 3-9 months to hire and train the worker. Sure there are some tricks you can do it faster (basically offering 20-30 % more salary to a skilled worker in some other company - but also that person need some sort of training).
217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: June 15, 2017, 02:44:16 PM
I hold some Moneros still and I am a little bit worried about the fact that Monero looks like it is dying slowly.
No marketing, no adaption and the price is declining slowly along with the decline in the ranking on coinmarketcap.
As someone said, even shitcoins are doing better these days...  Undecided

Please give me a good circle jerk so that I would not need to start dumping (I am living basically in the hope of the pump nowdays and hope is not a solid thing to hold a bag full of rottening apples)....  Cry

"price is declining slowly" - but long-term it is still going up. in the last 3 months XMR/USD is at 100++%.  Roll Eyes

Also bitcoin/usd is going up.
Monero represents higher risk than bitcoin -> expected return on Monero should be higher than the expected return on bitcoin. Otherwise investing into higher risk and same payoff instrument doesn't make any sense if you act rationally.
218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: June 14, 2017, 07:23:09 PM
I am sorry to say guys but it is not the wallets that will make the price to go to the moon but it is the increase of users.

Sure wallets help the user adaption but they are not going to bring any new users. It is the job of marketing and constant hype that encourages the others to buy our bags for higher price.  Shocked
