Cool, I could never be that lucky.  Cry

The most I ever won was $4 on a $2 lottery ticket.  Cool

Yes.

Every site is a scam until proven otherwise.
203  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is Mining profitable? on: November 10, 2016, 03:21:29 AM
When I hear the term cloud mining I think of buying a contract with a company and they do whatever mining they want and pay you a rate based on the contract size you bought. That payout rate goes down over time as the difiiculty goes up. Bad idea, don't so it.

Something like: https://www.genesis-mining.com/

But, since you are asking about NiceHash I assume you actually are referring to renting hashrate/miners and minging at the pool of your choice.
My rough numbers on that are this:

Current PPS right now = 0.00097265 BTC/TH/s/Day
Current Low rental rate on NiceHash = 0.0009393 BTC/TH/s/Day

That makes it look like you could make 0.00003335 BTC/TH/s/Day but you then need to figure in all the fees.
NiceHash charges a 0.0001 BTC fee plus 3% <- not even looking at the 3% the flat rate fee blew your profit away.
Plus there would also be a fee on the pool you use.

Now there is the possibilty of getting lucky with timing a luck streak on a PPLNS pool or solo mining and hitting a block, but those are not something that you can calculate, and really are a gamble.
204  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is Mining profitable? on: November 10, 2016, 02:05:09 AM
Yes, but cloud mining is very expensive to buy a contract and the returns are ever decreasing.
You will not make more than you invest.

No, not 33.3%

There are six possible pairs of the two poker chips pulled from the bag.

WHITE+WHITE, WHITE+RED, RED+WHITE, WHITE+GREEN, GREEN+WHITE, GREEN+RED.

We know that the GREEN+RED pair was not drawn. This leaves five possible pairs.

Therefore the chances that the WHITE+WHITE was pulled is 1 in 5.

Some modification and another addition, still many more words needed to hit your goal of 314.  Wink

So for me 0% chance because you are a color blind, there's no chance that you can pull out white poker chip because there is no white chip at all Smiley

Can't be 0%, there are 4 chips in the bag, One RED, One GREEN, Two WHITE.

By the way I am new to bitcointalk, Is there any chance that I can bring my off topic to a right thread?

If you have a legitimate question about bitcoin, that you can't find or understand after searching the forum then head over here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=39.0

Ok, here is my first problem:

I have four poker chips in a bag. One is red, one is green and the other two are white. I reach into the bag and pull out two poker chips. I look at the two poker chips and tell you that at least on of them is white. What the chances the other poker chip that I pulled out is also white?

210  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Dwarven Bitmine - Earn some satoshis with that game on: November 09, 2016, 04:31:55 PM
Possible suggestion:

What if you were to add some random things that could happen while mining?

Examples:
- You found a large deposit and gained an extra 3 gold.
- Your picaxe broke and you have to quit early, 1 less gold than usual.

This could potentialy add a little more interest to the game.  Smiley

Miss Keihanaikukauakahihulihe'ekahaunaele

Hoston, we have a problem! alert depicted fittingly in red, and as I've already stated the use of 's would've been in play if used where I initially thought it would work.

Giving a [long] name somewhere in the prose is definitely not outside the realms of possibility either early on or subsequently.

I was thinking that since it was a person's name and not used necessarily as a contraction, that maybe it would acceptable.

Maybe she married this guy and took his last name -> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hubert_Blaine_Wolfeschlegelsteinhausenbergerdorff,_Sr.

I'll look at this again tomorrow, I need to go to bed.

What about using "herself"?

I think that should work, but a name would add more characters.

Ok, you'll need to change the he/she, but I rearranged a little bit and also have your k

One more thing I need to add: all 26 letters of the English alphabet need to be used, leaving only the letter 'z' not yet used since I just added "past Luxor" so to include the letter 'x'.

Change galloping to grazing.

No apologies necessary. But you are required to crack a block before the month is over!! LOL. Really, make it so!  Cool

I actually LOL'd   Cheesy

That should be the default to anything mistyped in this thread.  Grin

You used your instead of you're, you are hereby sentenced to find one block by the end of the month!  Cheesy

i bought another S9 13.5 today to add to my farm with 4 S9
i hope to found a block this month to be my first one here
i am here from Aug with one miner
every month i got a new one until now

Patience, Grasshopper...in the American vernacular, that's the way it goes, my friend...

No offense intended at all...you're going to be doing OK with 5 S9s, so long as they hold up. I hope, as well, that you find a block this month! More, even...and me, too...

I think you've done quite well with a block a month with that hash rate.

Mine on! Cool

I think they were saying that they have gotten an S9 every month, not a block every month.  Wink

I don't know if it meets all of the requirements, but here is my attempt.

Down in Louisiana there dwells an evil necromancer who spends all his time attempting to raise long lost corrupted spirits from their waterlogged tombs such that he might learn terrible truths about powerful artifacts which shall definitively confer upon him untold and overwhelming powers of subjugation over earthly equinal lifeforms ...

... created by terrifyingly sadistic demons formerly residing among mere mortal ponies forever galloping across open fields filled with golden wheat normally used during developing a procedure for discovering individuals projecting antidisestablishmentarianism tendencies within largely liberal congregations around developments alongside rivers flowing southerly but not northerly as does the Nile ...
218  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Quick question, kano.is or slushpool? on: November 08, 2016, 10:56:53 PM
However, with p2pool, that block finder reward not only means you get paid a little more if you find a block, it also mean you get paid a little less for every other block p2pool finds to cover the block finder reward.

I think kano hit the nail on the head with this.

The little bit more you might get if you find a block sounds good, but...

What that makes you think: "oooh a little extra if I get lucky and find a block  Smiley"

What you should be thinking: "That means I'm getting a little bit less on every block I don't find.  Cry"

Lets play with some imaginary numbers.
You have 35 TH/s.
The pool has 2000 TH/s.
The pool finds 100 blocks.
The fee on every block was 0.35BTC

If you find one of those blocks you get an extra 0.35BTC
If you don't find a block you do not get any extra.

If the pool pays fees to the miners you get 100 blocks x 0.35 BTC / 2000 TH/s x 35 TH/s = 0.6125BTC

Trump. But only because Hillary is a criminal.

Aren't they both?

I'm pretty sure if you look up criminal in the dictionary it says: politician.  Cheesy

I vote for myself, I'm the only one I really agree with 100%.
220  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: November 08, 2016, 05:10:37 PM
Power consumption for 2 months would be 0.590 KW/hr x 24 hrs/day x 60 days = 849.6 Wh

Profit is much more complicated, what is your power cost, where are you going to be mining, what will the difficulty changes be, etc.

Not taking those into account:
The S5 would make roughly 0.001141 BTC/day x 60 days = 0.06846 BTC  at the current BTC/USD price that would be $48.63 USD
But difficulty will most likely increase so earnings would be much lower.

Subtract what the 849.6 KWh would cost you and you have your profit.

At $0.10 USD / KWh you are looking at 849.6 KWh x $0.10 /KWh = $84.96  so a loss of $36.33

At $0.04 USD / KWh you are looking at 849.6 KWh x $0.04 /KWh = $33.98  so a profit of $14.65

And again those are assuming everything stays static for the 2 months, IT WON'T!

So unless you have really cheap or free power, it is not going to be worth it.
