202  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin exchanges seems to be hard? Maybe no more ... on: February 09, 2012, 04:30:21 PM
Check secunia Webid has unpatched vuln from 2011 they can't be bothered to fix their software
I also hope you're using something like GreenSQL to filter injection.
Also no SSL..

Your site is going to get raped should substantial listings be made and enough money to interest somebody. Get somebody here to make you a custom script webid is garbage
203  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Reasons why I maxed my BTC holdings on: February 09, 2012, 04:25:10 PM
Price has been stable ~$5something for awhile I don't remember the last time price was so predictable. Great success for me, who relies on stable pricing to take funds online
204  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: CryptoXchange took my $100 and will not reply to my emails or return phone calls on: February 09, 2012, 04:19:29 PM
If I were you I would take that picture down immediately. That cheque has all the routing information for your bank account so someone could use it to steal money. Your welcome.
Is that still true?  I've heard of people using the bank account and routing number to print fraudulent checks in the past, but I thought check printers and the check printing technology has eliminating that security hole.  I don't think someone can pull money out of a bank account electronically having only an account and routing number.

Check printing technology is useless, it's all still pretty much based on signature. If it matches and funds available good to go. Templates for cheques everywhere these days, just add account number and look up the rest of the info online, then social engineer the signature out of somebody (Plz fax me a signed quote for my proposal...)

205  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Somewhat related.... on: February 09, 2012, 03:59:43 PM
There won't ever be enough bitcoins for Iran to be able to use them, they are making billions a day in transactions for oil/wheat.

I hope somali pirates get at that gold ship lol.

Surprised Chinese and Russian banks don't accept Iranian wires and just forward it to Australia
206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why no exchanger implements 3D secure-Verified by Visa / MC SecureCode on: February 09, 2012, 03:45:45 PM
There always is chargeback risk even in person buying with Chip+Pin Visa/MC cards. If somebody enterprising wanted to do Visa->Bitcoin they would have to:

Get chargeback insurance protection
http://www.cashrun.com/prodsolutions/cashshield

Sell Bitcoin as a commodity/good instead of 'currency' so Visa/Mc don't blacklist you

Keep $10k in liquid funds lying around to instantly buy coins while waiting the 3-7 days for the payment gateway to settle funds to your bank, or have a ton of coins you're willing to speculate on and hope they don't drop in price to $2/ea again

Cap it at $40 or something per transactions

Use a service like this to dropship a registered code in the mail for further protection, if taking over $40 or so, or ship 'paper coins' to them, or something you think up like a printed login to get coins out of an online wallet
http://www.send-certified-mail.com/

You would have to charge at least 10% to make any profit from this, and no doubt gamblers would make your life hell constantly charging back, claiming their kids bought the coins or some other lies to screw you.

If you live in Ukraine/CIS you can use Liqpay.com to sell Bitcoin (if you advertise it as gaming commodity) but lately even a $60 charge from any card that isn't issued in CIS they take forever to authorize. The gold companies selling up to $5k in gold have plenty of insurance, and they're also ripping the customer off so they make extra money.. look up Glen Beck's old touted company that was shilling supposedly rare gold coins at 4x the price before the feds seized it.

Bitinstant is such a good service credit cards no longer needed. Now somebody needs to clone their system in Europe/Asia/Uk

Also DGC companies in Canada sell LR for Amex/Discover at a decent price, but Visa/MC is 22% and up

207  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Magazine on: February 07, 2012, 04:21:35 AM
sell it on amazon kindle like 2600 magazine does, no money in selling print copies anymore

Yea, can't argue with that...... Roll Eyes

11,298,000 print readers

However there is a bonus you get with written material, that being freedom of the press, hence why 2600 was reluctant to issue digital copies for so long after what happened to Phrack and similar e-mags in the 90s (epic law enforcement editing/crackdown/seizures)

I only know LukeDashJR from his incessant mel gibson-esque radical religious trolling on IRC and btc-e, and semi hilarious DMCA of ScamCoin.

Gavin I only know from well thought out posts and transparency in Bitcoin's development. I could care less what they look like, both have easily available pics you can find in the interspheres. It is slightly disturbing Gavin doesn't have a neckbeard and is a dev but clearly he knows what he's doing so it's all good

212  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tor Idea. on: February 05, 2012, 12:21:52 AM

And yes, paying for access wouldn't make Tor any more resistant against the Chinese government, I know.

If you had to pay for the information about a relay it would make it harder (more expensive) to find relays and block their IPs.

China's creepy firewall immediatley detects a local user connecting to a bridge, then blocks it a few seconds later

213  Other / Off-topic / Re: Social Network on: February 04, 2012, 11:57:40 PM
I use social networks for business listings only.
Why I don't have a personal one
-cult of celebrity BS
-ex g/f's tracking me down
-crazy ppl from highschool I haven't seen in decades tracking me down
-corporations hiring PIs to break into my profile if I apply to them
-said corporations spying on everything I do so they can fire me for shit talking them even w/private profile
-intelligence gathering by CSIS/CIA/FBI/derp
-intelligence gathering by fraudsters
-selling my info to datamining corporations
-waste of time when I can just text message one of my IRL friends
-spam PMs and annoying marketers

Plenty of seed places use the pics of the full grown plant on clearnet, in magazine ads, everywhere it's not 'illegal'.

219  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Internet Café: Considering accepting Bitcoins. on: January 29, 2012, 12:19:45 AM
True, however I was at a local forum here and was surprised when they invested in some guy's japanese hotdog startup joint so there is sometimes exceptions but dude had a perfect presentation and a sufficient ROI scheme.
220  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: paysafecard Makes Official Statement on Bitcoin Purchases on: January 28, 2012, 11:49:39 PM
100% lies they just want to promote their own 7%+ fee voucher system and closed merchant acceptance instead of allowing a potential competitor into the market. Another problem is Paysafecards are sold in the US (with special pin# so you can't use it for online gambling) so that eliminates them completely because if you could easily exchange PSC->Bitcoin the excited states may ban sale of PSC.

No current e-currency (with the exception of PM or OKpay) will let you interchange with other currencies. This is why I hope Bitcoin kills them all off and their prehistoric bad business models. I bet CashU and Ukash would be more open but only if you peddled bitcoin to them as a commodity not another currency, like second life dollars.
