Bitgo wallet or should I say one wallet multiple users, Bitfinex fell for this crap and pulled the coins out of cold storage!
Responding to needs of Bitcoin businesses, BitGo created the first multi-user 2-of-3 multi-signature wallet. Adding multi-user capabilities allowed Bitcoin businesses to have what we’ve had in the banking world for years: joint accounts, multi-level transaction approvals, auditor account access, and more
I believe coinbase has insurance for a situation like this.

Isn't coinbase insured, for a situation like this? If so I'd never use a exchange that isn't insured.

Maybe waiting upwards of 100 confirmations on deposits and withdrawals similar to mining. Once the deposit hit required confirmations it could be traded freely on the exchange until withdrawn. It would definitely buy some time in the event of a hack.

I'll put up $100.00 as well

Is the drop today because of bitfinex getting hacked? I also noticed coinable if offline for supposedly maintenance.
I'm sure that is playing a big part of it. Also the bitcoin core had a closed door meeting on block size again. Supposedly once again nothing was accomplished. Bitcoin core devs wants SegWit and Sidechains - not block size increases. They want that coz it means moving txn rewards away from miners to them (and centralisation to them) I'm guessing sooner or later the pools will get together and do something about a small block size increase. Garzik had a solution, but that was simply a scam to make the pools happy, he never intended on implementing it. Bitcoin is mining - that's how it is by design. No mining = no transactions. More mining = more security. If they want something else, go create a scam coin alt coin and play with that. Sounds like the core team is trying to achieve what bitcoin in part was designed to get rid of? Centralization.

Depends on which exchange you're looking at, I guess (re spot)...but it's around 500. I'm not worried at all. I'll have to buy some (I hope) tomorrow to pick up on a couple of A6s. The seller is really getting the better end of it, perhaps.
EDIT: I do, however, agree with Con that it's a bit early if you're doing it for ROI. I'm buying because I have to. Otherwise I'd just hold for now.
What i do not understand is a A6 is 3.5- 4th...at current price thats 79.00mo based at 527.00BTC electric based on 7cents @ 1.1kw is 56.25. Thats not much of a margin for error at this time. With the price of btc today the S7 and A6 aren't profitable for most miners. If this continues watch the difficulty drop substantially. EDIT: .09 cent power and higher are losing money

kinda funny difficulty dropped and of course btc price did as well.

In that case, let's set up a meet and greet in Oz! Always wanted to go, my wife did years ago and loved it. My turn!
There are some great bitcoiners I know of outside of the mining community in Oz, count me in. If any kano miners have Telegram, PM me and i will invite you into some good btc chats. Citronick has already done the required reading of btc mountain. Also, I met one of the BitClub guys back in February and he claimed they purchased a lot of the new bitfury chips, possibly the shipping containers. He also claimed they were using free energy to power a small portion of their mines which I think is bs. Where can I get a copy of btc mountain?

Good Lord. I didn't think I would ever get a block. I live in Las Vegas, and just got back from my fav. casino, Texas Stations, playing Surf 'n' chicken. This was from 1 of my small rentals on MRR. to kept my 5nd up. No idea which one as I use the same worker of all of them. It's hot in Las Vegas, so I have to turn off my rigs and rent. my garage can hit 120 F/50 C. I sent a few S7s to Toomim Bros, and plan to buy 1 S9 also send it to Toomim, and wait for Avalon to do its dance. In the meantime I've been tiring to sell my 2 a6s & 1s5 with power supply's as a package for $900 with free shipping. So far no takers. Mine on I love this pool. Chili
LV is such a great place to be - great night life, great food, great casinos, great shows, etc. We should have a "kano pool miner conference" get together in LV. What say you Kano? Well I can always be there in spirit since the main server is there also That's to bad, a community get together would be awesome.

Is NH looking into the miners connected to it? There is a consensus about block withholding going on possibly through your traffic.
Just like any other kind of attack, we will confiscate earned bitcoins in such cases and block/ban IPs. So I'm guessing your answer is no and you keep the BTC, while people who rent these bad miners from you get shafted..... The answer is yes, but we cannot discuss any more details in public. The attacker could bypass our security systems if knowing them. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me. Those who are honest and paying for your service should be compensated. In no way should nice hash just keep the BTC. I would imagine this practice is pretty profitable for you?

Yoshi works for Bitmain -- and happens to be onsite with one of their large customers. He was extrapolating -- and you've cleared it up...
That large customer of his is Bitcoinclub who also operates a -ck pool (bitclubpool.com). Its a shady group of people if you look through the internet and do some digging. They run mostly Ants. At the moment Iceland is a Hotspot for bigger farms because of power prices and very very good infrastructure. I have faster ping times (Latency) than I had in Europe. Quite important. The new power mecca is not going to be either Canada nor Iceland or Sweden, but a new player with quite some advantages like the fastest internet node in the world and very very cheap Hydro power. These prices are even so low, that even the Chinese may shake their pants we are talking prices around 0,013 and 0,0157 pr KW. Only reason left for the Chinese to be in control for the long run are ASIC industry, but some very big EU ASIC chip producers has just introduced an 10nm Asic and somehow controlled with a completely new design of ARM processor, they are doing test at the moment where the same amount of ASIC`s should tripple the hashrate pr chip... with extreme low power use. Something very very big is going on at the moment out of China... Why do you think most of the big ASIC producers are now bought by banks... If they cant control the network, control the source. Im not saying these AICS will ever come to the home miner, I do not think so, Bitcoin has become too big, even for the EU producers of AISIC`s. But hey im freaking jumping on this wagon and its going to cost a serious amount of money some time next year. There is also some really big things going on in the US. Should be very interesting watching this whole thing play out.

So, the next day that Kano.is pool finds 6 blocks ( and 2 of them are found with S9s), does that mean that the "nefarious" miners failed to do their job? Or their miners are off the pool... Where can I get me some of them magic S9s that find a block for kano.is while mining elsewhere? Very interesting
|
|
|
If I were some wild conspiracy nut, I might think that as more S9's are pointed at our pool, that our luck has gone sour.
It certainly seems to have. Last extended period of bad luck it was rentals, this time it's S9's. Maybe we are just having some bad luck? During the rental conspiracy I jumped ship. As luck would have it we started hitting blocks and I missed out on a good profit. Won't happen again with me. Luck is luck and it changes, it can't be good all the time.

I find it amazing that an S9 commissioned barely 24 hours ago has hit a block !!! I had the same thing happen with my first batch of s9's one hit a block in 4 hours. My one and only block
|
|
|
Why is it that overall hash rate went down but kano pool has gone up so much. Did ppl just upgrade to the new s9 or did we just get a lot of new workers added to it?
Other pools hashrate has dropped significantly lately. Some I'm guessing are turning off old equipment. Others must be moving here.

Had a S9 batch 8 arrive today. Ethernet lights flash, it won't hash and I can't login through my browser. I've tried different power supplies, Ethernet cables etc. anyway to boot with a sd card? I can't seem to find it on bitmains website for the s9.
I am having the same issue: This is what I sent to Bitmain just know but hoping someone can help me before them. I just recieved my S9 about 36 hours ago. I connect and hook it up like all my other miners before. I have had about 25 different Antminers. It took a bit to coneect to the network, I had to use different wires but it eventually connect, it ran for about 6 hours and stopped hashing, but stayed powered on. Now I cant get it back on my network with my other machines. I have reset my router and switches. I have tried to reset the miner by the button on the front and nothing works. The mach powers up and seemed to be working fine but it wont connect to the network nor will cgminer start. I have attached a YouTube video, I removed the front plate but have not disassembled the miner at all. I need to know what needs to be done. Do I need a new controller? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPBOCCsmc2kany help would be appreciated Mine was a bad BB board. they are sending me another. But I couldn't login to mine or hash.
