Has anyone ever used genesis mining? Could you PM me your account and when you did? I want to be able to track (and probably block) their access to the pool, since they are the ones who caused the withholding on slush. (no it won't affect your payouts)
Just an update on this. It turns out (that at least I obviously didn't know) that when you mine there, you have no control over the mining. Thus I'll need to snoop around the stats to see if I can find if and where they connect from. Thanks for the info each person provided to help me work that out. Kano, they are Operating from Iceland. I will try to figurer out my outside IP number so you can take me of the list of Iceland adresses. I (of course) know what your IP is, but mentioning that they run from Iceland certainly helps me track them down. Thanks. Just talked to Yoshi in Iceland. There is a big farm running antminers. One of his large customers. Must be big enough to send him onsite.

Genesis is not running Ant miners on Iceland, they made a joint venture with Spondoolies. What do you mean by big farm of Ants on Iceland?

Yoshi works for Bitmain -- and happens to be onsite with one of their large customers. He was extrapolating -- and you've cleared it up...
That large customer of his is Bitcoinclub who also operates a -ck pool (bitclubpool.com). Its a shady group of people if you look through the internet and do some digging. They run mostly Ants. At the moment Iceland is a Hotspot for bigger farms because of power prices and very very good infrastructure. I have faster ping times (Latency) than I had in Europe. Quite important. The new power mecca is not going to be either Canada nor Iceland or Sweden, but a new player with quite some advantages like the fastest internet node in the world and very very cheap Hydro power. These prices are even so low, that even the Chinese may shake their pants we are talking prices around 0,013 and 0,0157 pr KW. Only reason left for the Chinese to be in control for the long run are ASIC industry, but some very big EU ASIC chip producers has just introduced an 10nm Asic and somehow controlled with a completely new design of ARM processor, they are doing test at the moment where the same amount of ASIC`s should tripple the hashrate pr chip... with extreme low power use. Something very very big is going on at the moment out of China... Why do you think most of the big ASIC producers are now bought by banks... If they cant control the network, control the source. Im not saying these AICS will ever come to the home miner, I do not think so, Bitcoin has become too big, even for the EU producers of AISIC`s. But hey im freaking jumping on this wagon and its going to cost a serious amount of money some time next year.

Good Lord. I didn't think I would ever get a block. I live in Las Vegas, and just got back from my fav. casino, Texas Stations, playing Surf 'n' chicken. This was from 1 of my small rentals on MRR. to kept my 5nd up. No idea which one as I use the same worker of all of them. It's hot in Las Vegas, so I have to turn off my rigs and rent. my garage can hit 120 F/50 C. I sent a few S7s to Toomim Bros, and plan to buy 1 S9 also send it to Toomim, and wait for Avalon to do its dance. In the meantime I've been tiring to sell my 2 a6s & 1s5 with power supply's as a package for $900 with free shipping. So far no takers. Mine on I love this pool. Chili

While the formula of fastest internet and cheapest hydro power remains critical to mining business - good competition is also critical as you pointed out... However, one thing left in my opinion needs to be addressed... the software that runs it all. That brings us back to the cgminer - i hope cgminer "5.0" will be new norm, still opensource and cannot be ripped off by irresponsible parties....

LV is such a great place to be - great night life, great food, great casinos, great shows, etc. We should have a "kano pool miner conference" get together in LV. What say you Kano?

Im pretty sure the next gen miners will be using CGminer and perhaps Bitmain new something is up and they created the BMminer.... Im seing Bitmain Ghosts By the way, im in for a gathering of KANO people, thumbs up for that !
