2001  Other / Meta / New Badges on: August 19, 2021, 02:51:17 AM
Hello guys, how are you?

So, I was looking into the badges that exist in BitcoinTalk.

I would like to share my opinion (if this is possible)

What do you think about the feasibility of inserting new badges here on the forum?
Any analysis in relation to this?

What do you think about inserting a badge related to economy? (I don't know if economics would be the most correct word to exemplify), but for the user to have this badge, he needs to have solid knowledge of macroeconomics, monetary theory, knowledge of how the market behaves.

Another badge that I thought might be interesting to insert in the forum would be a badge related to the "research user", as he doesn't have the necessary knowledge to be a "Bitcoin expert" or "Bitcoin-Qt", an excellent way for him to contribute on the forum is, writing and sharing scientific papers (perhaps from your master's degree or PhD), perform researchs, and always analyzing and seeking knowledge for cryptocurrencies.

I believe that if they insert these new badges, it will probably encourage users who have a lot of knowledge on this topic to always be sharing with us their knowledge, analysis and other things.

What do you think!!? Is this really feasible?

Of course, this is my humble opinion on this subject.
I am so grateful to be sharing my idea with you!

obs: I searched the forum and didn't find any topic related about new badges, so I created this one.

regards,

2003  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Man lost £20,000 in one night after becoming addicted to online gambling! on: August 18, 2021, 06:57:16 AM
It depends on the level of addiction. You need to consult a doctor (in my case psychiatrist) to evaluate your problem and make an assessment. They also prescribe a medication if necessary.

Though sometimes a family's presence and advices are enough to refrain yourself in playing gambling games. Why are you doubting yourself?

I think the treatment will be building a new mind for him and trying to eradicate the addiction by giving him a new activity that must not be related to gambling so his mind can distract to think about gambling.
Maybe make him busy with the new thing can help his mind to focus on that new thing so he will not think about gambling anymore.
It could be similar to treating an alcohol or drug addict, but the difference is that a person addicted to gambling is not sick in his body and needs to change his mind.
But for the best answer, you can visit a psychiatrist who knows how to treat the addicted person to gambling.
Hmm, about your comments, I was able to conclude that a gambling addict is something similar to a drugs addict and the treatment can be similar.

I still believe that the addict can undergo psychotherapy and go to a psychiatrist to improve their results and get out of this addiction!!
2004  Other / Off-topic / Re: Images, Google, Youtube, showing about gambling in Saudi Arabia. on: August 18, 2021, 06:51:41 AM
I don't know much about the site. I just searched about muslims gambling on google and that was of one of the sites in evidence also displaying the images posted by OP. I thought interesting because it was a self-claimed muslim site sharing their view on that specific situation. Anyway, the information in the article about the prominent Imam in the images are true and he has a background of liberal statements considering his religion standards.
Hmmm, thanks for the info @uneng
I confess that I found it a bit contradictory and I was even surprised, as I believe that the Muslim religion does not allow these kinds of things.

With these kinds of things happening all over the world, we see how things have changed over time.

How many did really actually play gambling on that particular area?It is a gambling establishment or  just inside of someones  home? When it  comes to regulation
then  for  sure they are really strict on implementing about those rules specially with prohibition.

Just as @Lanatsa mentioned above that it is a haram thing on  Islam then it is really surprising that they are really doing gambling.
If they do really like to play then they are aware on the prohibitions that had  been  set.
Look, I don't really know, but let's see how these kinds of things are going to be in the future, whether gambling is going to stay in Muslim countries or not.
As I don't understand very well about this subject, I can't give a concrete opinion about it.
2005  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: August 18, 2021, 06:40:39 AM
We also forgot that when the coming of European players, the NBA change too. Dirk was too lanky when he starts his NBA career, tall, but can dribble the ball and can shoot outside including three's.

Shaq was another one, tall, and damn, so powerful that no one can stop him during his prime with the Lakers, he can dribble the ball too.

Of course, Steph Curry another one who really changes the complexion of the game with his 3 point shooting way outside of the line. James Harden step back, which everyone now is doing.
Yes, exact! With the arrival of new players from around the world to act in the NBA, each one has its own characteristics, for example Dirk with (rainbow shot), Manu (euro step) and Luka with his (improved stepback)

I remember Vlade Divac and Anderson Verajao as well, there are a lot of floppers even in the 80's and 90's. Karl Malone used to flop against Dennis Rodman and exaggerate things.

Another great example is Bill Laimbeer of the Bad Boys Detroit Pistons, just Google "The Laimbeer flop".

Even Manu Ginoblli flops. But it seems Lebron though has a long history of flopping that it really stuck in our minds, Lol.  Grin
Wow, well remembered!

Bill Laimbeer was an expert provocateur and liked to mess.
I think that over time players evolve and create a new way of playing basketball.

Although, I think players who flopping, most of the time they are a tv show actors lol

Could someone tell me how is the treatment for a person addicted to gambling?
Is it something similar to an alcohol or drug addict? Or something like that?

Tongue Grin

Are you talking about the Epochtalk platform or the integration with the forum, because as far as I know, the platform is released for testing, and there are already forums based on it like https://coinbistro.com , but there is no roadmap as there is no given time frame the work to be done, you can look at the official project website, https://epochtalk.org/ and their github with the current status > https://github.com/epochtalk
Hello @TheBeardedBaby, how are you!!?

Unfortunately I believe I was too general in my question.
But I would like to know if there is any roadmap for the release of EpochTalk (phases and dates of implementations and various features and especially, the EpochTalk release).

Thank you so much for answering my question!!

Smiley

Hello guys, how are you?

So, I'm creating this topic to see if there is currently an EpochTalk roadmap? Could someone explain to me?
I confess that I found about the new forum platform some months ago.

In fact, I even created last year a topic on local board where I, TryNinja, alegotardo, Disruptivas, and bitp@d, debated about this important subject, we discussed some interesting features that can be implemented in EpochTalk, for example a public API and 2FA to improve the security.

Does someone have any predictions when the EpochTalk will be launch? what are the main difficulties we currently have?

Thank you so much

Look... I confess that I would never have imagined that a person could become addicted to gambling!!!
Unfortunately, that's too much is dangerous!

But I believe that for everything we have a solution.
The best way is to talk to someone in your family (or a trusted person) to be able to give you support and help to get out of this addiction!

Boaaaa, achei a ideia bem interessante! rsrs

Podemos montar esse sindicato (ou algo do tipo) que você comentou @Paredao  Grin

Acho que isso até seria uma outra forma dos usuários tirarem uma graninha extra aqui no Bitcointalk
2014  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: August 16, 2021, 09:54:07 PM
There's no flopping in the old days, I wonder who invented that "flop", is it Lebron? lol...

Flopping is cheating, it's a disrespect to the real essence of competition and I think the organization will have to impose more penalties on floppers as it does not develop a real competition that everyone could just use just to win with no essence of satisfaction.
Thanks for saying on a subject I didn't remember!! lol

These days there are a lot of flooping, basically there are some players who are practically "actors" and manage to perfectly stage a move to get the foul!

ps: LeBron was one of them, but I believe that these days he's slowed down a bit in relation to flooping.
A player who can cause an offensive foul on the opposing team is Varejão (ex Cavs and Warriors) and he didn't do much flooping, in my opinion he had a good game iq in this area.
2015  Other / Off-topic / Re: Images, Google, Youtube, showing about gambling in Saudi Arabia. on: August 16, 2021, 09:48:34 PM
Look what a muslim site says about this situation: Former Imam Kaaba Inaugurates Cards Championship Angers Muslims

I'm not sure if that is really a casino, but the story is that a former Imam inaugurated a cards championship with his religious fellows in the Saudi capital of Riyadh, what disturbed the most traditional segments of the Islam in the country. I doubt there is much anyone can do about it, because there is a consensus Saudi Arabia is going more liberal day by day (of course it's a different liberalism from the western world), what is also noticeable in another areas, like for example in cultural sector, as the first cinema house will be opened in that country in two days, and more are to come for the next years.

Scenes like the ones presented in this thread are going to become more common from now on.
I'm impressed! Is this site what you showed is really trustworthy??
I would never imagine that an Islamic country could ever "accept" these kinds of things. (Of course not everyone agrees with this).

But I confess that I was impressed, as it seems that with each passing day some countries around the world are changing!!
2016  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: August 16, 2021, 09:40:25 PM
Yeah, that was back in the old days when basketball was more physical, and I like the old days as for me it's more entertaining than what we are seeing in the present. Shaq and Wallace are so strong and they don't shoot 3s, they even struggle with their FT percentage. I think it's Curry who changes it, lol, that's why he got the biggest contract now as he makes everyone learn to shoot because of his great 3 point shooting.
Wow, old times! I also like the 90s and early 2000s style of play.
It was a game with a lot of contact, we had good players with 3-point shots and other players with excellent ball handling!

But these days I've noticed that the type of game (and NBA players has changed). We have a large portion making shoot in the 3 points. By the way, we had "unicorns players", tall players with good ball handling and they can shoot!!
2017  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: August 16, 2021, 07:50:30 PM
if they'll complete the season with no major injuries, this Lakers squad still have that great chance to win the title, LeBron and Davis still the best combo in terms of both offense and defense,

Westbrook and Anthony they'll be adding more offensive threats and if combine well by the coach, it will bring the most of this team to a winning squad.

Still early, but for sure all of them are after the ring and they are on the mission to prove those critics regarding to their age.
So, this is a very important variable. The "x" factor that caught several teams off guard this NBA season (2020/2021) was injuries, there were a lot of injuries, even I was worried about that.
I confess that if they don't have a lot of injuries this season, the Lakers and Nets will have a great chance of making it to the NBA Finals this season (of course anything can happen), but I believe these teams have a lot of potential for that to happen.

Basketball isn't just a height thing otherwise all 7 footers would be awesome.  Athleticism is a huge part of playing basketball.  And for most people that tall, their shooting mechanics are all wrong from anywhere out from 5 feet from the bucket.  Limbs are too long for smooth mechanics.  And besides most are goofy and can't move laterally quick enough to last.
Look, I believe this is a compilation of factors that can make a difference. In my opinion, height is indeed an important factor, but for a person to be an excellent player, he needs to have skill, be a good shooter, be a good movimentation and be a good defender (which in my humble opinion this last characteristic is a of the most important).

For example, over the years we've seen a number of HS and college basketball players who are tall and who are occupying SG and PG positions.
I believe these characteristics of that players is going to change

Who would forget that team, Paul George was also Ballin with the Pacers, it's just so pity that after Hibbert's season with the Pacers, he does not have a good basketball career anymore.  We can see his stats here https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/hibbero01.html and only in Indiana Pacers where he is playing very well.
Thanks for sharing these Hibbert stats with us @Yamifoud  Smiley

Hibbert's had good performance when he was in Indiana, and that was clear!
Sometimes I don't understand, how a player like him 7-2 (218cm) tall, hasn't had a brilliant career in the NBA... not to mention unfortunately he retired from basketball too early.

A player who retired (in 2021) that I really didn't understand was the center Lucas Bebe (Toronto Raptors), 28 years old at 7-1 (213cm) tall. He said he wasn't happy playing basketball and returned to Brazil looking for new challenges! Several people, players, were shocked by his decision.

I was thinking of the Lakers' roster recently. There isn't only the arrival of Russell Westbrook to bring special attention to the Los Angeles Lakers, but also that of Carmelo Anthony. The latter, who's always been a great friend of LeBron James, is ready to fully step into his rotation role, to make the second unit offensively dangerous. Melo wants to win a ring with Lakers, and with this team he might achieve this.
Sure, even though Melo is LeBron's friend off the court, I think this is another reason to Melo plays well in the Lakers, because he will be playing with his great longtime friend!

I really like Carmelo Anthony, I hope he and the other players can bring this ring to the Lakers
2020  Other / Off-topic / Re: Images, Google, Youtube, showing about gambling in Saudi Arabia. on: August 16, 2021, 03:15:31 PM
I think it's a hoax or something like that, and maybe some people are trying to provoke it, I don't think it's worth showing before a lot of Muslims see this. There are indeed some who do that anonymously, but judging from the whole… if it's seen by the government, that would certainly be a punishment.
Yes.. sure! That's a possibility!!

Saudi Arabia is a Muslim country and there are many people who follow / attend this religion.
I have a limited knowledge about this theme, but I was really curious to know how these kinds of things happen over there.
