2121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Newly crypto projects. on: June 19, 2021, 04:38:45 PM
This has been discussed so many times here and it will always end up on DYOR advice.

It's really hard to determine or predict if a new project has the potential to gain profit, sometimes there's looking good at the first flow but in the end, the team will abandon it.

IMO, a good sign was started on the community on the roadmap, which blockchain is it built on, the team behind on the project and next is how the project has a unique idea that can be useful in the future.  Followed by the community how active they are and the last on which exchange it will list, well, it's probably a good sign if it will be listed on the big exchange.

My suggestion is, avoid those hype projects they might a trap to those greed people, learn to have your research instead.
2122  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Livecoin return of deposit on: June 19, 2021, 01:44:24 PM
I don't know what is their trick and most of those who created topics are newbie members and don't have even a post history.  It's obviously shilling by them and there's no need to create this thread, you just post this into the Livecoin ANN thread.

I saw a month ago similar to this thread here and since on this page on their ANN thread, many newbies claiming that they receive 50% payment from Livecoin, and all of them created just to post on that thread.

I'm curious where did they get the 50% refund from Livecoin, the Livecoin official site was down and can't open anymore.

I'm still waiting for an established member of bitcointalk to post that they got their 50% back instead of all of these new accounts that were apparently instructed to post exactly what OP posted here.
I've doubt they will afraid to post it here because most of those who confirmed that they received the 50% refund from the Livecoin exchange was have a neg tag by nutildah.
2123  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What do we do when a campaign is discovered to be a fraud on: June 18, 2021, 02:55:12 PM
In this case the campaign 1xbit.com has been accused of scamming its users but still yet reputable members of this forum apply for the campaign.
No, they aren't reputable users and as I'd say, it's shame to them.  Here is the List of Participant in the promotion of scam site, as you can see, all of them had been tagged.

If there's a campaign promotion that has been a bunch of accusations, they should not continue promoting scam projects here.  Since scam projects aren't moderated here, negative feedback next to their profile is a good awareness to other users that they are a scam project, and those who are willing to promote scam projects must be tagged too.

I saw most of the participants have legitimate negative feedback on their profile but yet, they are accepted to the signature campaign.  So nothing to worry about because this is visible for most newbies here, it should be a red flag to them.
2124  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: My Bitcoin Balance not showing - 2021 on: June 17, 2021, 05:08:08 PM
All features that are showing LOCKED in this picture has issue of IP Blocked, whenever i clicked them it appeared "IP Blocked". Yes i can SEND/RECIEVE.
If you can able to send/receive the feature, don't make thing becomes worst if you still insist on buying and selling method on that wallet.
Move your Bitcoin right now on the non-custodial wallet and transfer it to your local exchange in Pakistan if you want to convert it into fiat, it could be work on Kraken and LocalBitcoin exchange but of course with KYC procedures.

I heard tons of issues on this web wallet, I must say, avoid using this web wallet if you don't want to have a problem in the future.  There are too many ways and alternatives where to store safely and buy/sell your crypto without freezing your Bitcoin depend on your Ip location, otherwise, forgot that you have stored your Bitcoin there and move on.
2125  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Casascius Coin 1BTC on: June 17, 2021, 04:50:21 PM
I also didn't an expert on this but based on my quick research it usually sold on the eBay market and here in Bitcointalk at the collectible section as linked above.  I don't know how much the price because you didn't show any image as an example but you can visit eBay here. https://www.ebay.com/b/casascius-bitcoin/bn_7024834955.  As I heard, the creator of that Casascius coin has minted a coin that has a private key and has 1 Bitcoin inside of it that you can sell at this current price.

Quote
Is it worth putting it into a crypto exchange and earn interest on that, or should I keep it closed?
If you have a Bitcoin through your Casascius coin inside, much better you will keep it, exchange doesn't have a guarantee to keep your Bitcoin safe because you don't have full control over your private key.  You should keep it if you dont spend it.

It could be on eBay and here on Bitcointalk the best place to sell your coin.
2126  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Bitcoin a business or an investment? on: June 17, 2021, 04:00:00 PM
Bitcoin over the years has attracted lots of people into the crypto world since it promises a passive way of earning and many switched fully into cryto currency some other fraction left their paid jobs to concerntrate fully on cryto while others added this as a side hustle.
Of all you've stated above this statement which is I couldn't agree more, IMO, you can't leave your job just for crypto, there's no stable earning in cryptocurrency and besides, you can't rely upon everything about your financial sources towards in Bitcoin that you've said it has a passive income, Bitcoin will not work like that.  If you read carefully the Bitcoin Whitepaper it said the "A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System" which means the alternate currency to the fiat which has people have a freedom that no one has a full control except you.

But for now, it could be Bitcoin use as these;
Bitcoin is a business if you start a business related to Bitcoin (blog/exchange/wallet/etc).

Bitcoin is an investment if you like speculating with certain assets.

Bitcoin is a currency if you like to use it to pay for stuff or receive payments.

Bitcoin is a store of value if you like using it to hedge against the dollar or your local currency.

^ or it can be all of them, or a combination of multiple things.
Additionally, Bitcoin is very sensitive of risks, you must aware it first and know everything before you will use it.
2127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are meme tokens dangerous or moon on: June 15, 2021, 11:55:21 PM
No doubt, it's a very dangerous toke.  If you're going to ask me?  I'd rather stay away than investing a hype tokens that have no real use.

It might they are profitable if you will ride the hype, but monitor this token because we don't know when it will drop the price by those who are manipulating this.  Meme token is a pure joke token/coin, it will surely become shit after the hype will cool down.  I must say, stay away and focus on the leading coins in the market.
The truth is that these meme coins and no different from shitcoins, they are just changing their name to divert the mind of the investors. But for sure, only noobs will try to invest with them. Well, I'm stepping away even though to say we can't underestimate with them, I'd never take risk from buying tokens that will just pump during the hypes or might not.

Stay away from them is much better than taking a risk, but if you have enough fund to take a risk or let say, willing to lose, you can try it.
I had a lot of friends making a profit and riding a pump and dump coins/token like this, a meme coin.  It seems like on Dogecoin when it is hype, most of them are trapped now and didn't yet sell their coin hoping that it will pump again.  Always checking the tweet of the meme Dogecoin influencers hoping that will tweet again his Dogecoin and pump.

Come on guys, we're old here and we know only Bitcoin is profitable.  Give you a large percentage of allocation to Bitcoin than the shitcoin meme like this.
2128  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you know when to sell? on: June 15, 2021, 11:46:42 PM
I know its an individual thing, but if you are in an alt and it is pumping...when is the best time to sell? I feel as though every-time I am in a coin that starts to make some good gain I leave it to long to sell..Anyone else do that. I heard it is because of greed, we star imagining all things we can do with our new profits, but the longer we leave it the more chance of not making good profits. Does anyone have a good strategy for knowing when to sell?
Actually, there's no way to know when to sell because ever since crypto price movement is always unpredictable.  But you can always have your own research in that way on how good that project coin you're holding on to.  Because usually, altcoins followed Bitcoin price movement, so there's no way to predict them not unless there's a group manipulating them through pump and dump.

However, if you want to sell high with your desire profit, you can bid that in the trusted market exchange with the high price compared to the current price and come back once it is sold.  That's my strategy when I want to sell my token, at least I know where to cut my profit and yes, there's no need to be greedy at all than nothing.

2131  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What Practical Advice For A Beginner Trader? on: June 15, 2021, 10:59:10 PM
I tried trading Bitcoin a couple of years ago but quit after I lost $300. What advice do you have for me if I decide to start trading again? Thank you!
It could be;
  • Demo trading
  • Copy trading
  • Study and research trading analysis stuff
  • Egaging different crypto trading commonunity(not the hype)

If you aren't ready yet, I suggest you invest for while in Bitcoin and hold it until you will know how to trade.   Trading needs more time before you will consider it is a good opportunity and have potential in trading, but in fact, if you are in actual trading, you can't manage your self.
2132  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoind sender proof on: June 15, 2021, 10:51:23 PM
All said above was right, all open-source Bitcoin wallets can able to sign messages, and even a web wallet that you don't have a private key but still you can sign a message on it.  An example is the Blockchain.com wallet is also capable of signing messages.

Screenshots of your email confirmation of the transaction seems your best bet, except it isn't full proof as screenshots can be faked, another option would be to send a small (pre determined) amount to some other of your address, to show you are the one sending from that address/account.
All of these are prone to be faked as well.  Dont trust if anyone if there's someone who shows proof of Bitcoin ownership through a screenshot and or even in a short video clip, it could be modified using photoshop.  The best is to sign a mesage as solid valid proof.
2133  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Best way to send BTC? on: June 15, 2021, 10:24:21 PM
First negotiate which Bitcoin rate the two of you will use. There are several "prices" that can be used. Set the value in BTC, not in dollars. Then send everything that is in your electrum wallet, you can set a lower fee there. And complement what is missing with the value you have in coinbase.
I tend to agree with this one, Bitcoin fees aren't in the dollar base, it should be on sat per byte.

How do I determine how much the transfer fees are from both Electrum and Coinbase to calculate or determine I'm sending the guy the correct amount of $533.00?
The link that shared above was right, you can calculate the fee according to the mempool fees, the fees rate is the same with Bitcoin price, it is very volatile and it will fluctuate every now then, it is hard to determine how much exact amount of satoshi per your transaction.  Coinbase wallet and Electrum wallet has different fees rate.

why not put it all first on 1 wallet, then send it.
Still, OP needs to transfer the Bitcoin because they aren't the same wallet, as I expected Coinbase here has a big amount of fees.
2134  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: My Bitcoin Balance not showing - 2021 on: June 14, 2021, 11:59:27 PM
Op's problem for sure was enabling the IP restriction as advanced security on Blockchain.com.  It may automatically lock out your wallet when you open it using a different IP address.

Do suggestion above to contact quickly the support, it might take a long time for them to respond just patiently wait for it.  If you can able to recover your wallet on Electrum wallet just like suggested above, you may also try that to bypass restriction if there's no choice or when the support didn't respond yet.

Once your Bitcoin will recover, move out into a wallet that you have your own control over your private key, and Electrum wallet still the best open-source wallet not this very buggy web wallet.
2135  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reasons to Invest in Bitcoin?? on: June 14, 2021, 11:28:16 PM
For your queries here is my simple explanation IMO.

Quote
Reason 1: You are in control of your own money - government overprint cash which devalues the dollar, but big influential people and institutions can devalue Bitcoin with a single tweet. Bad news, issues with mining, and other things out of your control can devalue Bitcoin.
Once big institution invest in Bitcoin and joining in the market, expected that they will become a big whale in the future.  Imagine if one of them will immediately sell their assets, of course it will make an impact directly on Bitcoin.  Regarding the most influential person now on Twitter, we have nothing to do since people keep believing in him, just close your ears to them and ignore him as soon as possible and no one will make a FUD in the market.  Bitcoin circulation too is easy to manipulate once you can able to play the market because Bitcoin price has a simple algorithm, it's because of the demand and supply.

Quote
Reason 2: Nobody can take away your bitcoin whereas the bank can confiscate your cash and lock your account - should I worry about my bank doing this if I am not doing anything that is illegal?
Know first if your government accepts Bitcoin as legal in your country, if so, there's no reason Bitcoin becomes illegal in your country.  But as long as your Bitcoin didn't convert to fiat, there's no worry on the bank that will take action.

Quote
Reason 3: You can send it to anyone in the world - why would people want Bitcoin when you cannot use it to purchase in many stores? Plus ii takes too long for 1 transaction to go through.
Who said you can't purchase using Bitcoin, there are too many online merchants that accept Bitcoin, and even the largest payment processor Paypal was already adopted on it.
2136  Economy / Speculation / Re: Opinions according to the current market situation on: June 14, 2021, 11:01:28 PM
Of course, there's no infinite growth in the market price movement and that's why you feel it boring on your side.  But in fact, isn't, the market situation probably people are keep holding as they saw recently that the Bitcoin price has finally a resistance and it could have growth after a few days.  The recent spike for sure make the market again busy and as you can see the mempool space, Bitcoin transaction slightly increased compared last few weeks.

G7 to honest is irrelevant to this situation, if you're a crypto trader, you were always monitoring the situation on the market whenever you are.
2137  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Centralized and kyc platforms can pose risks in the future on: June 14, 2021, 04:19:15 PM
In ny country, I used a centralized exchange and also a wallet where you know that I don't have the private key or mnemonic phrase for the wallet but so far I don't have issues using it. Still, I am very careful not to transfer huge amount of money (in fiat money) as It may be risky (more like money laundering) but in real life or in any platform is that I don't launder money, not ever. I even completed the KYC so that I can use cryptocurrency they accepted which is BTC, BCH, ETH and XRP.
Its looks like I know this custodial wallet and the exchange platform as well.  It's really hard to trust someone on the internet with our personal information but AFAIK, all KYC information that collected on a centralized exchange or a custodial wallet, they are on a separate database that highly encrypted and no one can steal on it unless if there's an inside job or the owner itself will sell that information of our personal data that has been collected.

We should be wise on trusting any websites that ask KYC.  It should have transparency of their team and as possible there's no hiding on a website owner.
Though it feels risky in the future, we don't have anything to do is to abide by the law and a part of the law is to have KYC and since a website license under the law of the government, they also required a KYC.  Searching for legit websites for the KYC thing will less risky in the future.
2138  Economy / Speculation / Re: Number of transactions declining in last 2 months. on: June 14, 2021, 03:40:26 PM
We're all here having assumptions here but there's no accurate answer that I found above.

The reason could be;
  • Traders might trap when there's a sudden correction of the price and prefer to Hold their asset on exchange
  • At a low price, everyone prefers to hold than spending it
  • Know how to send bulk transaction or start using Light Network
  • It's summertime, and time to have a break in trading

If you will see, mostly when the price was dumped no one will cash out or trade their Bitcoin.  It's a sign that they keep holding their assets and didn't get panic sell even there's a FUD that keeps spreading.
2139  Economy / Speculation / Re: So what's causing the current rise? on: June 14, 2021, 03:20:44 PM
It's him again playing the market (Elon Musk), I saw a notification on the Telegram channel (Cointelegraph) on Elon Musk accepting again Bitcoin on his Tesla company and probably the reason of Bitcoin suddenly pumping up starting yesterday.  I don't know what is going to say despite the criticism of other people to this crypto influencer Elon Musk, there could be a chance he will make a troll again to make the price pump again in the market.

Let's hope there's no market regulation behind this sudden pump.

However, I think there are too many factors too that contribute to the Bitcoin price pump in the market, like the recent president of El Salvador and the government announced the legalization of Bitcoin.
2140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If I have $500,000$ in this token can I sell them immediately and get ETH? on: June 13, 2021, 04:42:28 PM
If I have for example $500k in coin with low market cap coin opendao (1.9m)

Can I sell it imamdietely?
As I saw in CMC, Bilaxy exchange has a good percentage of volume, if you have that amount, you can choose the recent price sell order at the price of $0.5503, but if you're not in hurry and if you feel that project is good (which is I don't know technically) just put in a sell order in the highest bid and come back an after in a next few days while waiting your order to be executed.

If you will sell into Ethereum, that is better because you know at least this altcoin will not dump topo much not unlike the token that you wanted to sell.  That's your call if you will sell them all and divert them into a coin that has less risk.
