221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin | GPU on-line sales OPEN | Marketplace is live on: March 28, 2014, 06:34:59 PM
You know, I just thought of a great idea to get this coin rolling, all the people that read, follow, and support this coin, but rarely or have never posted here, please post and introduce yourselves! We all would love to meet you and hear any comments that you may have. Also, I personally have had 4 280x's pointed exclusively at GPUC since launch, and yeah, i'm talking I solved like 5 blocks at oakpool when the reward was still 1 coin. But, the troubles we have had are just not helping buy pressure at all. I'm considering pointing two of my cards at litecoin, dogecoin, vertcoin or some such other high volume coin that I can mine and dump and move the BTC over to put buy pressure up on gpucoin, not even necessarily buying it outright, just putting up the highest bid, and letting the dumpers sell to me. I'll probably get more coin, and boost the price. The only hesitation I have is that the network hash is so low right now. But, I'm thinking that if we watch it carefully, in a couple days we could boost the price and volume all by ourselves, even on our small exchanges, without any help, and that will bring back a few miners when the price goes up some, etc. What y'all think?

waltsmith

You know one idea is.. maybe we can switch over to POS, and then setup a reverse-multipool like BC.. Smiley

Micryon - You could flip to X11 hashing (which would give the coin some popularity, and reduce block rewards by .5), or switch the POS and work on the multipool..

Or take a combination of them both...  since the multipool will take a while to configure.

Start with an X11 / .5 Fork - advertise it, then say in 30 days we are switching to pure POS, and a multipool will launch with it.

I said this at the start, should have used the same at algorithm as darkcoin have done. But, did anyone listen, no one did..

I've been mining this coin continuously since launch with my Asus R9 270x, only have about 180k coins.  I settled on buying the 270x as my old Radeon 4890 was not cutting it for games anymore, but was really looking at a 280x when prices were sky high.  I bought the 270x at $240 off amazon and then promptly lost my job the next day.  First few days I spent mining random coins until I found the announcement that this coin would be launching soon.  I spent the rest of the time making sure my card wasn't a dud, it kept giving me artifacts on the desktop for a few days, but finally settled down and only firefox/palemoon show artifacts, but from what I have read that is due to the browser itself.  I would love to see this coin become profitable, it just feels like a good concept

If you happen to be running the 14.x beta catalyst drivers they are solid but do cause artifacts on desktop and in browsers. Known bug with the driver. I'm only running them cause I have the THIEF game that uses the mantle API and boy does it offer a performance increase!!!

waltsmith

I am running 13.12

I found a config for regular scrypt that the 270x can hit 500kh/s stable, I just can't get it to translate to scrypt-n, best I get is 230kh/s which is 20kh/s lower than I would like, but I'll deal with it.  I also found a workaround to driver crashes/low hashrates.  Device Manager > disable adapter and then re-enable it and your low hashrate should go back to normal once you reload vertminer/cgminer/sgminer.

I am fairly new at this mining stuff and wish I had gotten into mining back when Bitcoin launched when I first heard about it.  I attempted it, but at the time felt it was just too difficult and dropped off.  I think, at the time, Bitcoin was worth $0.10.  I am really kicking myself about that.

I wouldn't mind seeing your scrypt config.  I am getting 480 on my 270's and 490 on my 270x's right now, so pretty close but wouldn't mind a bit more.

You wont get any higher on scrypt-n usually the figures are only around 40-50% of scrypt values.

Right now in the UK, HMRC has not made a push for taxing people mining the coins or buying and selling on the exchanges. So we are clear for now. If GPUcoin needs to get into the UK market, there are millions of gamers to capture, also this is a fairly new market for us. Now a store based in the UK would be a good idea too, to keep delivery costs down, shipments could go to kind of uk delivery hub.
224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin | GPU on-line sales OPEN | Marketplace is live on: March 28, 2014, 06:16:34 AM
one of the first solutions for me is not aiming for the cryptomarket but getting the word out in the gaming community, were nothing compared to them, if the store can generate enough trust ( buyer feedback on the site would be great) and give peeps an easy way of obtaining gpuc store would be sold out instantly. but i just hope hendrix and the guys have already something up their sleeve.

Thats a good idea, like i said before this is where we need promotion. Now where is that promotional guy and what is he doing. if anything at all. I certainly haven't noticed it..

holy crap you pay too much for power.. ive been watching my power bill since I got 4-5 cards going, only 3x 270x and 1 270 in one rig and another rig for gaming/mining in downtime with a 270 and its only gone up like 4$ with 3 cards and $8 with all 5...im using a EVGA supernova 1300 gold 80+ psu..  id be looking into gridseeds if I was you.. and sell me your used cards on marketplace  Grin

Er, no..

Exchange won't matter. Lifeblood is in the flow of the product off the shelves, and the restocking. People need to be using the coin. I realize this discussion is coming from people not having enough coin to make a purchase (at least, some folks), but there are folks who do have plenty of coin and are simply holding.

To be honest if you look at the price in the store and upvert it to USD, it's a good deal on many cards. I'm surprised someone isn't simply buying GPUC, buying the cards, and then reselling.

I'll be honest, I've considered doing that since I can pick the cards up from GPUCoin himself.

I agree with you, people need to use the coin. We need to expand past just selling GPU's though. As I stated on an earlier post, GPU prices are starting to decrease, the market isn't as strong as it was a few months ago. By selling gift cards cheaper etc we can create a demand to a whole new different population, not just those who are seeking GPUs. That's where the GPUcoin supporters can come in and use their connections and see what they can bring to the market.

I think the marketplace is great, but it needs to be expanded.

Everyone's ideas are awesome, I sense that people that are still left in this forum and thread want this coin to succeed.

Don't worry, we are all still looking in from time to time and doing our bit on votes etc..

Ok, we are trying, we are all voting.. the coin is moving up, but i think it will take another week or more to get listed on mintpal

229  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin | GPU on-line sales OPEN | Marketplace is live on: March 25, 2014, 08:25:37 PM
dont sit your coins on exchanges

I never do normally, i was doing some exchanges today. then all of a sudden the site went down, i was in the process of doing a few exchanges with mintcoins and was about to pull the lot out. as i don't keep them on there any longer than a few hours. just poor timing i guess.

It was another DDos attack thats all. they have been blocked and now the site is working again fine. tried it a few times and works ok.
230  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin | GPU on-line sales OPEN | Marketplace is live on: March 25, 2014, 08:03:49 PM
Hey, they are on their way back to me.. just waiting for my dogecoins.
231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin | GPU on-line sales OPEN | Marketplace is live on: March 25, 2014, 07:50:35 PM
FFS, not only did i buy at a shit price to help stimulate the market. I now can#t get at the coins i had in there and others, fucking shit exchanges. Please please stop these wankers from creating exchanges they don't know how to run.. And let this be a lesson to any wannabe who thinks they can rule the world with shit websites.

Just keep trying, its what I did.  Finally got to them and withdrew.

I am trying, been trying for nearly 2 hours but thanks anyway. Expecting the worse so mining the gpu coin again.
232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin | GPU on-line sales OPEN | Marketplace is live on: March 25, 2014, 07:20:24 PM
i'm still pretty new to the exchange and how that effects things.
so from previous comments, if the exchanges have low volume, does that mean my coins sitting on my computer hurts the value of the coin?

No, the coins are safest in your wallets on your pc/laptop what ever you choose.. Try and make an offline wallet if possible or keep them on a huge mem stick with a backup of your wallets data. Unfortunately to trade w have to send the coins to the exchange. This is where it becomes unsafe. I think all exchanges should get lost and close. they are all crap. why someone doesn't just create a program that allows people to exchange their coins without the need of anyone owning the exchange.

like the bitcoin itself and earn commission for the exchanges for keeping the program running like us miners do, keeping a ledger on their systems that cant be hacked and exchangable from the wallets themselves.
233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin | Selling GPUs at prices cheaper than Newegg on: March 25, 2014, 03:26:59 PM
Well I've pulled everything I had out of Cryptorush, seems like it's on the way out?

Not sure whats going on really, i might just switch off my miner for a few weeks until it all picks up again.

I wouldn't stop mining because of the exchange - just get any funds left in there out to a wallet.
I don't feel there is anything wrong with cryptorush and going to close, its just laggy.

No, i feel that the prices of coins has dropped of considerably, so will be looking to stop for a while. Doesn't mean you all have to. its my choice. to be honest, there are far too many exchanges. there need so t be some regulation on the amount of exchanges that pop up.

What up with cryptocrush, its always down.. is anyone else getting load problems

Prob continued ddos attacks since yesterday. The blackcoin exploiters were not happy...

Whats that about, i must of missed that trying to sort out my crappy fluttercoin wallet. Anyone here have any fluttercoins with a full block chain loaded. that i can have to drop into the folder, i cant seem to get passed block 15553

Dont know how you even managed to pull a single coin out, i cant even navigate a single page on the site without it dropping out.

need this coin at mintpal..please stay away from cryptorush that cursed exchange site..

Can you tell me what's wrong with cryptorush? I think it is the most stable exchange at the moment.

Stable? Hardly! They "lose" millions of coins (ZEIT) and they act as if nothing happened, it's laggy, doesn't have enough volume and it's badly designed. Should i go on?  Tongue
I love cryptsy most stable exchange along with mintpal to date. I am not so keep on crypto rush always drops out, don't mind it, but pain in the arse when your about to close a deal it drops out.
238  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin | Selling GPUs at prices cheaper than Newegg on: March 25, 2014, 01:55:50 PM
OMG, been away for like a few days and the price of GPUcoin has plummeted to half what i paid. Not good, to be honest. i think there is a market correction going on. And many of the smaller miners will simply drop out, anyone who cant survive without a decent profit will go under. this is dangerous, as no money flowing will mean a further decline on the prices.

But at the same time, as there are less coins turning up on the market as people dump their last to survive. We will see a very gradual climb again. I know for a fact that there is technology planned to boost the bitcoin market, with the introduction of miners, bitcoin ATMs and other payment machines for fuel etc..

So bitcoin is not dead, and will never be that way. So grab yourself a bargain while you can.

On another note, GPUcoin why did you not market the coin before launch with a few of the bitcoins you had from the IPO working with professionals. Thats how i would have done this.

Unfortunately showing signs of unprofessionalism. But hey we were all there once.

Remember people there is more to come from BItcoin and all the other coins, well some anyway that aren't completely pointless that is.

Ah, regarding the R7, great price by the way, but simply can not compete with the UK, as your delivery prices are more than double the price of the GPU.

No offence to the CEO, but he has no experience with companies, what company has he run before thats what i would like to know. Im no expert, but i would say none.. Anyway the bitching aside, he did stay well communicated with the IPO members and stuck to his word on everything so far. But man, come on get this coin marketed.. Where did that spelling mistake member go managing the marketing..

Come on lets make some waves on this coin, spread the word.. Post to facebook, twitter and lets kick this coin to the moon, damn it, now i am even saying it, that damn moon coin.. Dont forget to vote at mintcoin, I shouldn't be doing this, why am i doing this..am i getting paid, don't think so, wheres that marketer, wheres the communications team. there isnt one. doh.. Come on..

Regards,

M
