Yeah you can edit the control file located in the firmware folder. The item is on line 1: FW_MINER_HWVER="Antminer S9i". Got a spare control board lying around so gonna test the edit
EDIT: So yeah, don't edit the file. Chances are it will brick the vanilla s9. Can't understand why it does that if using the SD card works but oh well.
Umm it doesn't brick anything by changing the control file to the s9 from s9i. Thats exactly what I did and I have it running on multiple early batch S9s without an issue.

So I upgraded from the 10/22 to the 10/23 firmware and I am still not seeing a drop in power usage at all....I really dont understand why this isnt working for me. I need to get this figured out as I have 8800 s9s waiting to be flashed once I do.
EDIT: Turns out the pool I was using CLAIMED to have support for it but it actually does not. I pointed a machine at kano.is and saw an immediate 200w power reduction.
This must be something completely different than the ASICboost used in the Halong machines as those would not connect to an incompatible pool, which is what caused my confusion. As usual bitmain seems to have done it better than the competition despite all the hate towards them

Just check out your control boards if C5.. that's why you have no difference from new fm.
These are newer 14th machines, they dont have the first gen control board.

I have put this fw on 5 machines so far and have seen almost no difference in power or hash, im really confused how you guys are getting so much out of it and im not

Thanks for the reply! Yeah I'm running a unit with 3 hashboards, I'll just connect 1 power supply to two boards and the other to the controller and 3rd board. BTW, what do you mean by RAID? What miner are you trying to do this on? If it is an s9 or t9 the boards pull about 450 each so 2 boards on a single power supply would overload that PSU. You would be better off with a 1000w and like a 600w if you really wanted to run a machine like that

Those fan RPMs are not real and are indicative of a possible failure, if there are fan issues your remaining boards wont hash. As far as the board not registering, its probably just bad at this point.

This is a pretty sketchy request for a guy with no history on the forum, I would caution other people not to do this, its just too risky

You should listen to your licensed electrician over some random people on a forum. You really arent giving enough information about your setup for anyone to give you advise on here as well

Is it me or the values of the apw3 don't add up in tje two graphs? E.g. at 100A, they have different values Or what did i miss?
Top graph is at 230v, bottom one is at 110v which is why there are differences...

|
|
EDIT: The T9 board is different, never mind S9 and T9 controllers are interchangable. You can even flash an s9 to T9 firmware and it will run. Not sure where the incompatibility lies...

EOS Classic devs are leaving miners high dry. WTH.
The last tweet says they received a legal take down notice. It sure doesnt sound like they had a choice in the matter, nor the funds to fight for it. Dont just immediately point fingers and blame someone like they were trying to form a personal attack on you for mining their coin.

Your ad is a bit confusing.
You mention it is a registered plate....well its not registered after you sell it since its tied to your car. Its not like someone else can just go register theirs because they have a physical plate in hand that they are not the registered owner of.
From what I gather in essence you are asking nearly $1000 just to have an unusable physical plate? Why would anyone do this? If you want a plate that says bitcoin you can go get a copy made for like $50....this just doesnt make any sense.

1. I have a public IP address assigned to my miners (they are in external "warehouse" of IT company), so that I can remotely manage them but after a while the logon stops functioning.. Maybe few days working well.. Even did not help HW reset, shutdown, power on, etc.. The login page is loaded but after clicking on login nothing is happening but miners obviously minning when I check them on the pool page, BUT - point 2
You have miners facing the internet, OF COURSE YOU GOT HACKED. Thats about the dumbest possible thing you can do. Miners run precompiled tiny versionf of linux that are never updated or patched. Any vunerability in the code will be there forever. The fact that you put these onto public internet IPs blows my mind. There is literally not a worse choice you could have made than this. I would never trust those miners again without replacing the controllers themselves now that they are infected.

Newbie's talking I write with newbie because of selling merits paint trust and I don't want my account Hero painted. So then stop doing stuff thats against the rules like selling merit? Then you wont have to worry about your account being messed with. As is, they just need to compare login IPs to find your other account.

Would be nice if this could be used with the R4... Also, any plans to add asicboost?
for the hundred thousandth time ASICBOOST requires compatible HARDWARE. There is no magic software to enable it on hardware that was not designed for it.

what is you power cost? I know what it is where are your mines? I have a general idea where they are.
does the op's post fit you with that blanket? yeah it does
but to be fair If I had 2 cent power or 3 cent power in bulk and a good line of communication to a big builder of asic gear I would be saying what you are saying.
To op you are fairly close to correct so I gave your 1 merit.
you do miss that some small guys like me can hustle power here and there and survive.
Im not talking about me specifically. I know my specifics are not shared by many. There are lots of people out there with options. Home miners with subsidized power, altcoin rigs that are still profitable, all sorts of variables. There are so many variables this kind of wet blanket negativity thrown over the whole industry helps no one. As always if mining is right for someone or not depends on their specific situation. So many people just point their finger and cry about things around here and that negativity helps no one. The non stop complaints just get old after a while.

antpool, bitcoin.com, and a few others are out there supporting it as well
|
|
|
Do you have anything useful to add outside of this ignorant post?
As always if mining is a good idea or not depends on a number of factors exclusive to that person so making blanket claims like this is just dumb and doesnt help anyone.
