221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / [ARTICLE] Titcoins! What Porn Can Do for Bitcoin on: January 11, 2012, 06:57:18 AM

Bitcoiners are always griping that the e-currency needs more users, not more publicity. The intersection of Bitcoin and porn, however, is likely to bring both. But the question is a logical one: if Silk Road brought Bitcoin into use by letting people buy drugs and other useful things semi-anonymously, perhaps taboo-but-legal sites could do the same. “Bitcoin won’t be popular until porn sites start accepting it as a discrete alternative to credit cards, which are a huge barrier to entry I think for many of their potential customers,” writes one user over on Reddit http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/o97xa/as_usual_porn_will_be_the_driving_force_of_a_new/ . Another pointed out that porn sites have been early adopters of technology before: “Porn used SD video cameras like the Sony VX1000 that proved small chip video was good enough for the small screen. The VCR, the DVD all owe their success, at least partially, to porn.”

It’s not that it hasn’t been tried: Wetcoin.co.cc launched back in July, an “adult-orientated website” that charged small amounts of BTC for downloads and required no registration. (The site is now defunct.) Cam4.com was another experiment, now defunct, which allowed users to tip amateur girls with proprietary “tokens,” which could be bought on the secondary market at xxxcoin.com (defunct https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=24913.0 ), for Bitcoins.

The blog Bitcoin Porn is a Tumblr with information about Bitcoin interspersed with porn. There are no purchases possible, but you can support the site with a BTC donation. There is an associated podcast as well as a Twitter https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Bitcoin_Porn .

There is the argument that the fledgling currency should try to associate itself with more acceptable ecommerce https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=38107.0 like bit-strawberries rather than be thought of as the medium of exchange for drugs and porn. But needless to say, if Bitcoiners could get enough adult sites to accept Bitcoin, the e-currency would gain access to a massive audience. “That was actually the idea I had in mind when I bought titcoins.com, but I haven’t had any time to bring it to fruition,” another Bitcoin-Redditor commented.

Just checking out the news and seen this Smiley The article brings a good point regarding services offered.  So far the only adult material I have seen offered with ladies on cams or even ladies offering themselves, seems to be shot down in some ways.   Very surprised the bitcams thread wasn't mentioned  Cheesy

So does this up the value of SolidCoin's because it is a collectors item now  Cheesy

If this went down any different, I would have had to reconsider this whole Bitcoin thing all together.   All is right in the world.
225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [It's here] The Second Bitcoin Whitepaper on: January 07, 2012, 01:52:23 PM
Is there anything more that the "MasterCoin" does that can't be done with Bitcoins and the Ditital Coin concept?

When I read the paper quickly, from my gathering of it, it seems the "MasterCoin" concept is something that in theory was probably intended to be another alternative coin that was stand alone, but since the introduction of all these other digital currencies has shown that people, despite if they like technical changes made to other coins, will stick with Bitcoin based on trust and other things.   So instead of making another coin, attempt to force more features on top of the Bitcoin client itself, require the Bitcoin client to run, but have enough changes where it seems a whole other coin is created without creating another coin.   I'm sure I have it wrong, but I actually don't think I do.

Also, this should not have been called the second whitepaper, takes away from looking at it too seriously.  That its a title reserved for something Gavin could blog about one day.

228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stackoverflow / stackexchange rewards on: January 06, 2012, 04:17:27 PM
Doesn't the top billing link on Bitcoin.org draw enough users already where that place doesn't have to be spammed here and users lured with bounties   Huh

Here's some more than only namecheap

<a href="http://asmallorange.com/" title="Register a domain name with a small orange">Domain Registration</a>
<a href="http://dreamhost.com/" title="Register a domain name with dreamhost">Domain Registration</a>
<a href="http://hostgator.com/" title="Register a domain name with hostgator">Domain Registration</a>
<a href="http://hover.com/" title="Register a domain name with hover">Domain Registration</a>
<a href="http://name.com/" title="Register a domain name with name">Domain Registration</a>
<a href="http://namecheap.com/" title="Register a domain with namecheap">Domain Registration</a>

I know it sucks that Namecheap will by default get the hits, but for this to have any effect, the focus has to be on just Namecheap in order to change the serps.

Also, had you been suffering from a lot of stress prior to the onset of symptoms? Stress shuts down immune activity and increases muscle tension and can cause nerve injury. In my case once I stopped worrying about my condition, I finally started to slowly improve. My advice for you if you don't know what it is yet, you should keep journaling, see more doctors, stay calm, and above all, do the activities that relieve your symptoms as much as possible, because they could be the key to eventually eliminating them.

Doctor first but I agree with what BrightAnarchist is saying too.  I think I recall reading situations that may definitely cause stress that would have physical manifestations.  I have personally dealt with issues very related to stress and it causing my body to react in ways that only relate to symptoms of something else that come out of nowhere.   Best of luck mizery
235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Legalize internet poker in US? on: December 26, 2011, 12:22:22 AM
I am pretty sure with the amount of poker related sites, even with alt coins getting gambling as part of their first services usually, it seems to be a pretty solid business so far.  No matter if the legit markets support Bitcoin or not, the people who will truly make use of it seem to find it.

239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you want in a new Bitcoin Exchange? on: December 25, 2011, 09:21:48 PM
If ICBIT uses DeepBit's merchant service, then all transferred money would be going mixed via a wallet having tens of thousands of BTCs transactions per day.

I am not familiar with your name or that site, will look into.

Off first glance, it does not look as though you are putting the focus on the site to compete with Tradehill or Mt. Gox, but rather.. something else.  Bitcoinnica (sp?) maybe.

maaku, is the start up you mentioned back in the day here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=20292.msg499698#msg499698 still in the works or has your focus turned to this new project?  Or, are they one in the same?
