Hi, can you please guys help me?. I want to buy a shelf, for placing there my incoming S3´s. Right now i have my S1´s in my room at there´s so much hot there I want to take a network cable from my router, through the window, to the upper floor, where i have my flat roof. I have 2 possibilities. A and B. In the images i attach you can see it. Which one do you think its better. Yeah, i know maybe the sun can hit sometimes, but i could place something in front just to avoid direct sun contact. What do you guys think?? Or please recommendations. Shelf in "red" and network cable RJ45 Cat5E in "green"

hey guys,
So I`ve just under clocked my 2x s3 to 212.50 each and they are running at 425gh\s each. Also, at the same temps as before 41 degrees C. been going 4 hours now.
Frequency GHS(avg) Temps HW Watt (Kill-A-Watt) ASIC Status ---------- ---------- ------- -------- ------------------ ---------------------- 250 487.26 41, 41 2 428 Chain#2, 1 "x" on the far right 237.5 423.55 39, 37 38 367 All OK 225 422.69 39,36 7 364 Chain#2, 1 "x" at 2nd position & 1 "-" at 8th position from left 218.75 403.58 40, 38 0 355 All Ok For sh1ts and giggles, I did the 212.50 on my S3: 212.50 424.81 37, 34 1 362 All OK This is at 1 hour mark. I think I'm going to keep it at 212.50, I like the low temp at this frequency. and dont u prefer: 250 487.26 41, 41 2 428 Chain#2, 1 "x" on the far right instead of: 212.50 424.81 37, 34 1 362 All OK i mean, its 62,45 GH/s more, yeah temp is lower with 212.50 and also Watts but.. mmmm Would be nice if others did the same as jamesc760 and posted their frequencies with how much GH/s they get, possible hardware errors and Watts

formula for monthly costs would be: WATTSx24x30/1000xcostperkwh=monthly

My 2 S3's arrived this morning. They are now up and running at a steady 458 GH/s. Interestingly they use about 30 watts less power than the S1's.
458 GH/s what frequency and how many Watts each S3? 218.75 I've got both S3 on the one UPS that shows 738 watts, so I figure about 369 watts for each. Both have the same type of PSU too. 218.75 ok I will have to test when my S3 arrive, but im scared of changing frequency to 250 to try to OC to 504GH/s.... i dont want S3 to explode At 250 frequency --> 504GH/s lucker S3´s , how much Watts there?
|
|
|
It's amazing how much variance there is in the first few batches. People have reported being able to hit and hold 504GH/s stable at a clock of 250, while others (like myself) can do no over clocking at all, and cannot hit even the reduced advertised stock speeds on all units. For example, one of my S3s hashes very happily at 441GH/s @ 218.75. The other one can barely hold 420GH/s at the same clock speed. I've tried over clocking, under clocking both of them, but neither works. Any change to a higher clock frequency inevitably leads to "x" and "-" and lower-than-stock hash rates. I've pulled both of my units apart, cleaned and replaced all thermal paste with AS. Unfortunately, I'm just one of the unlucky ones.
But its not dangerous to OC to 250? And how do i know if my S3 batch 2 can OC to 504 GH/s with luck without any problem, change frequency and wait for what, 2-3 hours and watch temperature and hardware failures?

So once i receive my S3´s i should install new firmware?
Not sure if it's newer firmware than currently installed (don't have my S3 yet, I'm a batch 3) the website suggests it the first version so it's likely its the one that'll come installed on your S3's - antMiner_S320140711.bin first version of firmware for antminer S3 Saying that it's probably worth checking the dates on the firmware on your S3's. If it's before the 11/07 then you'll likely have an older firmware version and would be worth upgrading yeah, i will check it thx

So once i receive my S3´s i should install new firmware? Maybe i better test how it works as stock, and if it doesnt work well then install new firmware??(mine is batch 2, maybe has that firmware already, i will check it on thursday)

UTP Cat5E is enough.
u mean Cat5?. Cat5E is better and more expensive And any switch also will be enough i suppose CAT 5 should be fine and any Switch. Please make sure it is a switch and not a hub if you buy it used. B\C if it is a Hub it will cause latency which will negatively affect your profitablity. My 2 TH miner only uses at its peak like 16kbits. So even wireless B could work but then your issue with wireless comes to that wireless traffic runs like an ethernet network with a hub and you will have collisions that will cause good old latency. If you want gigabit speeds to all your devices, you need Cat5E or better along with a gigabit switch. For most stuff at home, any gigabit switch will work. I have't had one die on me yet.
Be careful with GIGABit switches each port may be capable of gigabit speed but not all of the ports can do gigabit at the same time. you want to look at the Switching Capacity for the switch it should be at least 2gbs per port on the switch. In the home environment this isn't to big of a deal but if you what to have a media server in your home and stream high quality videos it can make a big difference. ok thanks!

Wow, you can still buy Cat5? A quick search on Amazon (UK) just gives me 5E and 6.
Seriously I'd have thought the price difference if you can even get 5 would be so minute this discussion isn't even worth having.
lol ok hahaha on ebay you can find them.... xDD i will buy Cat5E then

Well i dont think an antminer needs a lot of net speed for internet, right? but if i connect 16 maybe its better CAT5E... mmmm ok thanks i will think about it

For what?
yeah well i thought it was obvious sorry hehe. I want to connect my router in my bedroom, to a switch in the upper floor, using that network cable. Then the antminers will connect to the switch i mean i read main difference between CAT5 and CAT5E is that CAT5E allows to work at fastest speeds, but this is a miner,.... so thats why i ask because i suppose with just CAT5 will be enough.

I would like to know if its ok with an UTP Cat5 or if i should buy better Cat5E.
I suppose that with Cat5 will be enough maybe??
thanks

Release B4 they are likely using the last few days to ensure happy B1-B3 customers. By the end of the week almost every order should be shipped and they can offer 48-hr shipping on B4 onwards. also, they probably need a few days to redesign the miner to achieve 500GH if its possible. 500GH Would be devine. Hopefully BITMAIN can do it. If they can't, we will do it with overvolting. I'm still waiting for shipping or tracking informations, but once I receive my order, the first thing I'll do is overvolt and overclock, as usual. I know how to overclock because its easy, but... overvolt?? how you do that?. And its worth it overclocking? i mean for the difference of Watts. Stock 441 GH/s --> 340W and with overclock i dont know if its worth it that increase

Whats the recommended frequency then, how much GH/s it gives, and whats the power consume?? Thanks

where do you buy those rack enclosures?
