221  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Just Crashed on: August 21, 2015, 04:03:30 AM
In market economy, you can expect in BTC market things like that  Wink Price go up and down all the time  Grin
that's the bitcoin volatility thats also keeping a lot of merchants from adopting bitcoin though, which would lead to bitcoin becoming mainstream. coming to expect sudden price drops in price is rather bad i think.
222  Economy / Economics / Re: Americans Flocking to China on: August 12, 2015, 03:57:36 AM
Do you have a link to back up your claim of 600,000 Americans living in China? That sounds a bit high. I would also like to know how many of them are Caucasian. I know from experience that when you're a white guy in China, you may speak some Chinese (I don't), but everybody will see you as a foreigner.
it doesnt seem all that impossible, there are over 1.3 billion people in china. its not impossible to think that 0.04% of the chinese population are american immigrants.
223  Economy / Economics / Re: This is how 0.037 Bitcoins looks like in Venezuela on: August 12, 2015, 03:50:50 AM
that's beyond insane. you definitely feel rich if you have that much paper money, but as soon as you hear the value in usd you will get shocked.
even more so with zimbabwean currency, i think someone was selling a trillion zimbabwe dollar note for 0.03 BTC a while back here.
224  Economy / Economics / Re: Price stability on: August 05, 2015, 01:56:07 AM
I think real stability (where the price of bitcoin does not fluctuate more than a percentage point or 2 per year) is still years away. Bitcoin cannot stabilise and grow rapidly at the same time that's a contradiction in terms.

that kind of stability is not years away, but light years away. people will use bitcoin more and more to pay for things. most of these coins get sold nearly instantly. there is and will always be pressure on the price.
i think that the price will become more stable as bitcoin becomes more mainstream and the trade volume becomes stable to an extent, and most of the coins have been mined.
225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which celebrity do you think will be the best advocator for Bitcoin? on: August 04, 2015, 01:42:33 AM
Any publicity is good, but I don't really think "highly intelligent" when I see celebrities. It's the stars of business and finance that are truely the best advocates.
Remember Astin Kutcher? The guys kinda laughable. And sports stars are notoriously stupid and often terrible money managers.
Still, they command attention and respect...
What's Willy Nelson got to say about btc? He's a pretty libertarian guy...

i dont know... publicity can be bad, but as far as celebrities go, maybe 50 cent, last i remember he was accepting bitcoin for his album purchases: http://www.coindesk.com/50-cent-bitcoin-payments-new-album-animal-ambition/
226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sooooo China, isn't this shameful? on: August 03, 2015, 09:43:49 PM
It shows 88 nodes atm. But anyways, these statistics are based on the IP of the node, and since China has many issues with internet censure,i
believe that most of the node operators are placing their nodes behind VPN, which ultimatively shows the node to be in different country.

There is no other logical explanation that i can think of in regards to such a low number of nodes there.

cheers
VPS too, and a lot of stuff is blocked in china including this forum. but that does not explain how those 88 nodes are running from chinese ips right now, maybe special internet access for the rich?
227  Economy / Economics / Re: How too get rich on: August 03, 2015, 09:39:46 PM
There are many person who want to get rich in shortest way, yeah marrying rich girl is one of the best way actually, even marrying rich old woman. And its safer way than robbing bank imo. Lazy people will do anything to get wealth in easier way.
but then how will I listen to Rae Sremmund and sing along 'I earn my own money, I spend it how I like'. I don't want to sing 'I don't earn my own money but I do spend it with my old bitch who looks like my grandma but I have to sleep with her everyday  and suffocate myself between those saggy tits'. Um, I gotta invest into some btc. halving must help xD
lol nice song, I should hear you singing it  Cheesy
But, nothing wrong about marrying rich old woman in the way to get rich, which you wont be jailed by police for robbing or scamming. You just take care of her and no more thing you will do.

Haha, yes I would rather spend the rest of my life with an old lady than be robbed. And if I ever get scammed, I think I will kill myself with the frustration, because I don't like being fooled. And if that old lady isn't rich, I guess that will qualify me as a real food Tongue
If you would commit suicide because you got robbed/scammed, you are a fool. Period.

Even intelligent people can get scammed/robbed. It's not always easy to avoid these things. That's no reason to throw away your life.
not eveyone thinks the same way though. plenty of people around the world choose suicide over a life of poverty because it is easier. thats if you got scammed or robbed for everything you have though.
