there is this list of questions they want to ask friedcat:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1M7wigyDWjKjabHKdC7msaEfXvYaNxtMbbmTIRss8EqU/viewform?pli=1

but the most important question is not on the list: Friedcat, what is your favorite color?

(maybe Friedcat is reading this thread, /me crosses his fingers  Cheesy )

(you know, for the shirt design)

Leuke initiatief! 3FM Serious Request.

224  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: June 27, 2013, 12:46:44 AM
thinking of upgrading my PSU. just want to verify that 1000W will be enough to power 4 modules? (assuming that either Avalon will start selling upgrade modules or clones will become available eventually)

Also, I'm looking at getting seasonic 1050XM -- anyone have any real-life experience or opinions of this PSU?

Comfirmed working PSU list
ANTEC EA-650 GREEN
Enermax GX650
Enermax GX750
CORSAIR GS700
CORSAIR GS800
Super-Flower SF-650P14XE(GX)
Enermax 1000W(suit for 4 modules, a little bit long)
OCZ ZX Series 1250W

but no real-life experience.. sorry

Have you tried power on/off Avalon?

powercycle is only way to fix zombie-mode afaik , I hope it works for CryptoCluster

Hi.

I've uploaded a new firmware with the about-to-be-released cgminer 3.3.1 with 2 new features which I hope you'll like:

http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/avalon/20130626/openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr703n-v1-squashfs-factory.bin

--avalon-auto       Adjust avalon overclock frequency dynamically for best hashrate
--avalon-cutoff <arg> Set avalon overheat cut off temperature (default: 60)

this is in addition to the existing options:

--avalon-options <arg> Set avalon options baud:miners:asic:timeout:freq
--avalon-temp <arg> Set avalon target temperature (default: 50)

I flashed my Batch 2 with this and now I cant connect. What's the IP ?

would be the same as before, can you see it at the router? something went wrong during flashing?

+1. Iam going to upgrade 3avalons with a 4th module from my 4th unit..... eill this need more than 850w psu?  what psu Is highly recommended

How are you getting a 4th module?

FYI, I just made an improvement to my charts website for proof-of-stake currencies.  You can now see how many stake blocks are generated over time, the separate work and stake difficulties, and how much currency was minted due to each.

http://cryptometer.org/ppcoin_104_week_charts.html
http://cryptometer.org/ppcoin_90_day_charts.html
http://cryptometer.org/ppcoin_96_hour_charts.html

About 460,000 PPC has been minted in proof-of-stake blocks.  That's about 2.3% of the total supply. (There was a bug in my code.)
About 58,000 PPC has been minted in proof-of-stake blocks.  That's about 0.3% of the total supply.

nice charts
does anyone know what happened to proofofstake.com ?
I liked those charts, until they stopped updating..

what does HW actually mean?

my guess would be HardWare (error)

232  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Clone Assembly Service Europe 14 Avalons + 16 extra modules + enclosures on: June 22, 2013, 12:07:03 AM
Since the information about overclocking the Avalons seems to be out already and it's only a question about time when someone distributes a modified bit-file, I will post mine:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16881231/avalon_clone/firmware/openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr703n-v1-squashfs-factory_20130519b.bin

I have been running it for a month on a batch 1 unit. Happy mining Smiley

Thanks for this too, I am mining right now at 87 GH/s stable at 380 Mhz with a 3 module unit.

so you can just put it on 380 Mhz without any issues? have you tried 395?  I didn't dare to put it above 350
233  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: June 21, 2013, 12:07:58 PM
After a few more minutes it's up to

Code:
(5s):83.39G (avg):82.64Gh/s | A:350  R:0  HW:357  U:21.4/m  WU:1173.2/m

Power usage only went up by 5W going to 325 and 10W going to 350. 375 was unstable. The code is already in git master along with the values in ASIC README

34:375
36:350
39:325

Since mine is a batch 2, it has a 750W PSU and it does not seem to be a power issue at 350, but HW errors go nuts above this.

does the Avalon  temp increase?

have you selected static ip? or unmanaged?

backspace backspace backspace

I wanted to say something about those people that only look at names and judge based on how silly some combination of letters sound, instead of the real content... but I backspaced it because I don't want this to start some kind of flameware ..trying to stay positive  Roll Eyes anyway, it is just a name, we should be glad that ppcoin has much more to offer than a cool name

238  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Avalon Technical Support Thread on: June 06, 2013, 02:30:42 PM
Does anyone know the precise model number of the fans the Avalon units have in them stock or a possibly good replacement for them?

NMB-MAT 7
Model 4715KL-04W-B56
Minebea-Matsushita Motor Corporation

http://www.pccooler.cn/en/index.php/products/pc/fengshan/251-f126w-水晶.html

when the two black fans are running at max speed , the 25 mm one starts running slower, sometimes even stops. I was worried the fan was broken, but it seems to be normal behavior.

239  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: June 05, 2013, 01:40:33 PM
PhillipMa: I'm sure you understand the difference between purchasing a company's products (BFL) and investing in the shares of a company (Asicminer).

yes of course I do which is why I sold my AM-pt shares off yesterday. I feel that I am ahead of the curve of a steep price drop.

To a 1.5BTC a share rather then a 2.5btc a share.   plus if  dividend runs at .02 a share it would take 50 weeks to make up for the drop.  I was also in the position of making  a profit with the sale.

What is the downside  of my selling  BFL ships under 500 units and AM shares do well.  IN this case I suffer less profit.

If I held and BFL ships lots more units at 2.5BTC per 5GH  AM stock will drop and my guaranteed profit of 30 coins which I took today and yesterday could drop to a loss. HEY anyone can be wrong but BFL is really shipping units  1 Jally = 16 usb sticks .  At least 100 jallys are delivered that is at least 1600 usb sticks .

BFL price for 5GH = 2.5 btc

AM price for 5Gh = 32 btc

I will take my sure profit and be happy until AM makes an adjustment.  Hey I rather be made a fool and have AM come up with a brilliant counter move.

you took the most negative numbers, if you calculate with blades, 50 BTC/10 Gh  it is AM price for 5Gh = 25 btc, the usb miner sticks are the most expensive ghash/$  , and with AM shares you buy part of the expanding company, and with mining hardware you have to keep expanding yourself , you know the income from it will decrease
240  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon #2 damaged on: June 05, 2013, 10:39:35 AM
cant you just connect them to some computer with usb, and mine with it using cgminer?

The code for all devices is built into the binaries I have uploaded except for Avalon on windows (but why on earth would anyone want to do that?).
