Bruce, you posted the email addresses publically without any obfuscation.  They now have been scraped and will be spammed to death.

fair game, anytime you email anyone, always expect they will reveal it.

Common decency?

please understand the internet has not line to cross in the area of morality. "decency" is mostly non existent here on the internet.

FYI, anytime i hear "freemason" "illuminati", i simply ignore you. i also didnt bother to read your post, TAKE THAT.

did you take that with your phone?

and the article was a pointless read, all it did was rehash everything a dedicated bitcoiner would already know.

i believe in bitcoin, and i also agree we need to revamp the system. i like how it is for the most part, the only things i would change if i could would be

make gpu mining impossible (in reality, it centralizes bitcoin because a gpu can be easily scaled, id propose a proof of work system that is more serial than it is parallel. because bitcoin is sopose to be a medium of exchange, not a hoarding system or make money from simply using electricity.)
give 1000 coins per 5 minutes, until 500m exist, pruned coins will be added as a reward, so 500m will always exist
keep only 100k blocks, prune blocks, once you reach 100k, for every block that is made, one is destroyed. this also means you must trust somebody inside the network to give you a block to start with.
5 minute targets (some people fail to realize that once your transaction is in a block, rules for accepting coins in "limbo" no longer apply. if you want the same security then wait the 10 minutes and stop complaining, if you want me to write up a full description, just say and ill explain my reasoning)

I like some of your ideas. We need more coins over all. 21,000,000 just isn't "enough" to go around lol

technically, you could have like 2,100,000,000,000,000 "coins", right now i think there is only $56T cash i believe, thats BTC2.1Q, a quadrillion is a 1 and 15 0's

a "real" answer
living is nothing more than chemical reactions and electrical impulses, all working together to create an illusion of live and death.

You may be right. But even with our substantial knowledge of chemicals and electromagnetism we simply don't know how to get the "living state" going, or how it keeps going.
In physics a lot of discussion about unifying large and small scale theory is underway. But what about life? It seems to me that no theory of physics is complete without an explanation of the weirdest phenomena of all.

imagine the entire world as a perfect sphere, now take a nail and scratch it, thats how much we know about organic and biological chemistry. the possibilities are endless as carbon is one of the trickiest elements we know of today.

life as we know it may have been created or seeded by extraterrestrials. so the question is probably best answered by them. at least thats my theory, how they were made up to the "god" to answer.
but we can never be sure until we know of a way to make life, depending on how complex it is, life may be made every day, and just dies off due to bad conditions or it could be so complex it only happens once every billion years or so by small chance.

according to Wikipedia
Life is a characteristic that distinguishes objects that have signaling and self-sustaining processes.
Death is the termination of the biological functions that sustain a living organism.
230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does Quantum Computing mean for Bitcoin? on: September 01, 2011, 06:37:30 PM
The spookiest thing about quantum (Einstien called it spooky) is that we do not know how it works. For all we know research may discover ways of accessing secure data via multidimensional exploits. It's no longer even out of the question to think that cause and effect is just a phenomena created by our feeble ability to perceive what's really going on.

I teach biology, and I often wonder if there is a quantum connection between wave colapse and the state we call "living". Right now I can't explain to my students the difference between a dead bird and a live bird.
You are going to hear a lot more about this in the future.

heres a little something to think about
for all we know or i know, you or i could be "god" and only imagining this thing we call life on earth. we could be like in the matrix for all we know. or you might not exist at all, in theory everything could be everything, and you perception of reality could just be a "wave"

When the new retargetting algorithm goes live at block 20055, will Ixcoin reset the difficulty back to 1 like I0coin did?  Or is it just going to ratchet down organically?

it will probably so the same thing as the client he copied it from.
234  Other / Off-topic / Decentralized chatting on: September 01, 2011, 02:04:18 AM
I believe in the censorship free spread of ideas. I bring this up because recently bitcoin forums administrators have been removing topics not in the interest of the administrators or bitcoin in general. I am a bitcoin "extremist" you could say, but i believe in freedom of expressing your ideas however you wish, as long as you are not harming others directly as in attacking web servers and such that belong to people that have done nothing "wrong".

sure you could use IRC, but they can ban you on a whim. so i propose, for anyone that wants to discuss anything use WASTE again.

its completely decentralized, so this removes power from anyone, and its encrypted, so people cants eavesdrop on your conversions.

main page
latest build

in order to use WASTE you must have somebodies public key, and then connect to that person.

once the network grows over 5 or so people, you do not need to manually add everyone, you only need to exchange keys with 1 person, then you broadcast your key on the network and everyone gets it, assuming they auto accept key broadcasts. then they broadcast their keys for you to get. the use of these keys are to ensure who you are speaking with, is the person you originally exchanged keys with, assuming they have not been compromised.

this is my public key

the location is wasteagain.dyndns-ip.com on port 1337(default)

post your public key and i will add you.

just note, that if the network grows to a considerable size, you could easily have anybody inside the network exchange keys with you.
235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Input Requested for Possible Bitcoin Convention on: August 31, 2011, 07:43:03 PM
I guess I shouldn't have been surprised that everyone has an opinion about where a bitcoin convention should be, especially with all the recent drama, but I was really hoping for some more constructive suggestions.

Once more: Other than location, what / who does the next Bitcoin Convention need?

reasonably priced places to stay for a few days
culture or other attractions (might as well get a twofer)
good location to actually have the event at
airport with in 10-20 miles (20-30km)
public transit
236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paypal, bitcoins and bioshock. on: August 31, 2011, 11:40:22 AM
the way them islands are built is far from cost effective. and in the long run, your better off with modular solutions, or thats what i think.
237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Input Requested for Possible Bitcoin Convention on: August 31, 2011, 11:36:10 AM
If you look at the distribution of current bitcoin nodes, a huge proportion are already in the US.

So I vote for anywhere outside the US as a conference location.

That makes no sense.   I think one more, large event, sponsored by a few sponsors getting together rather than one head behind it all, in the US.    Bitcoin users should think logically and realistically about it's users who are most likely already financially invested in BTC itself, and determine the meeting place based on a location that offers cheap air fares and hotel rates.   Better organization, rooms in bulk deals, I know there has to be a few people with con and expo experience to get behind the next event.

that would be the logical way, but most everything else is not logical, so why not this  Cool
238  Other / Off-topic / Re: your view on homosexuality on: August 31, 2011, 02:30:25 AM
I was very homophobic growing up, and I would be lying if I said I no longer am to some degree. With that said, I have known many gay people and just like strait people there are good and bad ones. I have met some awesome gay people and am a better person for having known them. I have even been accused of being gay myself many times for just being myself, so I'm conscious socially of what it's like to be gay, but obviously I dont know first hand. You are either gay or you're not, it's that simple for me.

Some gay people navigate the world and get back nothing but hatred. They become highly self conscious and always wondering what everyone is thinking about them. They can become social elitists, always studying the human psyche. It's quite easy to fake who you are in a social environment and they can become extremely good at it.

Society has failed gay people. Most are too small minded to look past same sex relations. Sense most people dont think for themselves you can blame the media for this hatred(although i must note that this is changing - gays are looked at in a much better light in the media recently).

Gay people are a small minority in this country, but we should not condemn or judge them for being who they are. Let's give more credence to the content of peoples character and less about their personal preferences, because everyone is different; that's what make things interesting.

i like this and i share a lot of that.

i think there is a good chance that bitcoin may just drop out. mostly due to all the stuff that has been going on lately, like the recent scandal, mybitcoin, mtgox. it simply does not seem as likely as before. intrest in bitcoin is going down, as proof by the price dropping down.
240  Other / Off-topic / Re: Moderated Bitcoin Forums? on: August 31, 2011, 01:00:10 AM
TBH i see removing threads and posts as censorship. and any censorship to me is a direct attack freedom of speech, but if that's how they wish to run this forum, then that's their business. i have pondered just leaving for a while now, and seeing like 3 threads today being removed, sure made me angry.
