2202  Local / العربية (Arabic) / Re: بطاقة فيزا جديدة on: August 28, 2021, 09:12:59 AM
2203  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [General] Bitcoin Wallets - Which, what, why? on: August 28, 2021, 08:19:59 AM
No online "wallets", that makes sense. Not comfortable with a hardware wallet because it might be stolen, lost, etc.

A desktop/mobile software wallet, that is the deal.

There's nothing to be uncomfortable about. A thief won't be able to access the funds without the PIN code and even you lose the device, you can always recover it using the seed phrase, the same thing you would do if you lose access to your desktop or mobile wallet.

2204  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [General] Bitcoin Wallets - Which, what, why? on: August 27, 2021, 06:57:51 PM
In the case of coinbase, they require the user's phone number and I find that bizarre considering the purpose of a crypto wallet. I'll try blockchain it's been around since the beginning.

It has been around since the beginning but that doesn't make it safe to use, online wallets are far from being a good choice. I would just go with a hardware wallet if I were you, you can store all cryptocurrencies, and you don't have to worry about the safety of your funds. If you don't have a budget for that then Electrum for PC and Mycelium for android for BTC. For other cryptos and tokens, you've got MetaMask.
2205  Other / Archival / Re: Binance introduces KYC for all users on: August 27, 2021, 03:51:09 PM
Today I receive an e-mail from Binance informing me that I have to pass "Intermediate Verification", in order to have complete access to all the Binance services.
If I did it in the next 2 weeks, they will credit me a $5 voucher that can be used for paying their trading fees.
So I'm guessing that time has come, at least for my region/ country...

I've already seen that on Twitter. That's just a way to encourage people to give away their identity and verify their accounts, the restrictions are not going to apply until October as already mentioned.

Most of these exchanges are either scammers or plain suck. All but Kucoin.

I've been using Kucoin but binance going down like this made me nervous because every other guy that don't  want to do KYC will come to Kucoin now and sooner or later Kucoin will have to make KYC mandatory like Binance.

Kucoin might be legit but they can be very strict sometimes. I was asked not a long time ago to verify my identity when I forgot my trading password even though I had access to both my email and 2FA code... They didn't lock my account after I made it clear that I don't want to submit my documents but still, I don't think that's the best way to deal with someone forgetting their password.
2206  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: 20 BTC stuck with BASEFEX.COM [POTENTIAL SCAM - WARNING - BEWARE] on: August 27, 2021, 12:02:39 PM
I'm not sure of the reason, but it appears that @BaseFEX is banned: https://bpip.org/Profile?p=BaseFEX

So you shouldn't expect him to P.M you, not from that account anyway so if someone does contact you through the forums, make sure that he's an actual team member before providing any personal details.

Binance on: August 26, 2021, 08:34:13 AM

2209  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance withdrawals limits {0.05 BTC accounts} on: August 23, 2021, 04:07:03 PM
This is the end of non KYC exchanges.  Embarrassed

Still, some exchanges offering NON-KYC services. Among them Nominex offering the highest withdrawal. They are offering up to 3BTC withdrawal without KYC. It's new but looking good at all. I created an account also bought some NMX coins. Nominex exchange becomes a member of the Binance broker program so it's more reliable right now.
-snip-

Okex seems to be a good alternative as well. I can withdraw up to 10 BTC per 24 hours without the need to verify my identity. I also like the fact that lightning network withdrawals are supported which is something I believe no one has done so far.

2211  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is BaseFEX derivatives exchange still active and working for everyone? on: August 23, 2021, 01:05:38 PM
I doubt it is. They haven't made a single blog post since 2020[1]. I looked in Reddit and found this scam accusation[2] as well. I joined the Telegram group mentioned there, but it appears that it's dead, spam is not even being moderated.

My suggestion would be to try and contact some of the team members listed on their Linkedin page[4] and see how it turns out.

Daily withdrawal limits will be adjusted to 0.06 BTC for accounts which have completed only Basic Account Verification. This change is effective immediately for new account registrations and will be made effective for existing users in phases starting from 2021-08-04 00:00 AM (UTC) and completed by 2021-08-23 00:00 AM (UTC).

I also have a withdrawal limit of 2 BTC.

I'm well aware of that date, however, I have received an email on the 14th of the month saying that the restrictions will apply automatically on the 17th but nothing has happened so I doubt they would do it tomorrow.
2213  Other / Archival / Re: Binance introduces KYC for all users on: August 22, 2021, 01:25:43 PM
What happened to the 0.06 BTC limit exactly, is it canceled since KYC will become mandatory on October? They were supposed to apply it to my account on the 17th of the month but I can still withdraw up to 2 BTC per day.

2215  Other / Archival / Re: Binance introduces KYC for all users on: August 20, 2021, 11:51:25 AM
When was this 0.06 limit? I've withdrawn more than that within a day over several accounts created this year in the last month or so. Never noticed it.. huh.

It was announced about a month ago, and it was supposed to take place between the 04th of august and the 23rd (for existing users). Some users also got the limits lowered to 0.05 BTC instead of 0.06 BTC around April or May.
2216  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: OWNR wallet. Buy, exchange and store crypto. Order Visa prepaid card. on: August 20, 2021, 10:24:04 AM
Are virtual cards already available?

Yes they are, as announced a couple of weeks ago: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5145162.msg57601547#msg57601547

AFAIK, they're currently the only service offering virtual cards for almost all countries.

2218  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [List] Gift cards providers on: August 19, 2021, 01:59:07 PM
Keep in mind, to use giftcards on Amazon US you MUST have a VALID US based payment method. So you would have to get a VCC with some $ on it and have it's address match the shipping address where you are sending stuff. Then you can use US giftcards. They do ping the card every now and then to make sure it's still valid. No charge, just an authorization for $1.00 most people don't even see it.

-Dave

Is this a new thing? I used to shop from Amazon U.S all the time and I never had to link a credit card before. I just buy gift cards from other individuals on Paxful, redeem the cards, and then ship the goods to my package forwarding company's address.
2219  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How safe is connecting your wallet to third party portfolio apps? on: August 17, 2021, 09:51:50 AM
Blockfolio is trusted and AFAIK, they don't accept any API key with anything other than READ-ONLY permissions. So you have nothing to fear and if we're speaking in general, there should be no risk as long as you're not giving away the permission to CREATE or UPDATE. You don't want for any third app to gain access to withdrawing, or trading, especially in this case, where these permissions would be of no use.
2220  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Forum moderation policy on: August 16, 2021, 07:49:13 PM
Any updates? can we arrange a poll? A petition or something like that? Persian speaking community needs a sub-topic, how we should proceed?

Your best bet would be to create a topic on the Meta board. If there's enough demand and support from other Persian members, I'm pretty sure theymos would consider creating it.
