I personally think that more exchanges should adopt this as long as users don't get charged when they have nothing on their accounts because it seems like something that would encourage users from keeping their funds in off exchanges.

تماما مثل الخبر الذي شاركتكم اياه حول القبض على معدن في الجزائر، أعتقد أن هذه القضية تعتبر الأولى من نوعها في المغرب أيضا. أدين الفرنسي توماس كلوسي (21 عاما) الخميس في المغرب بتهمة "الاحتيال" والاستخدام غير القانوني للعملة المشفرة، وحكم عليه بالسجن 18 شهرا وبدفع غرامة قدرها نحو 3.4 ملايين يورو، بحسب صحفي في وكالة فرانس برس.
وكلوسي مسجون منذ 23 ديسمبر 2021 وقد مثل أمام الغرفة الجنائية لمحكمة الدار البيضاء المختصة بالقضايا الجنائية وقدم نفسه أمام القاضي على أنه رجل أعمال.
ووجهت إليه تهمة "الاحتيال" و"الدفع بعملة أجنبية على الأراضي المغربية" ولا سيما لاستخدامه عملات بيتكوين لشراء سيارة فاخرة.
وتعتبر الجمارك المغربية أن استخدام عملة مشفرة مرتبط بتحويل غير قانوني للأموال.

If everyone has a unique BTC address, how come that they can avoid broadcasting the transaction? Lots of people trading in all those CEX/DEX, the network should be full of those transactions, no?
When you first make an account, they assign an address to you. Imagine the following table in their database (let's say we already have funds in our accounts): +-----------------+-------------+---------+

So now, whenever you trade your BTC to USDT for example, all they need to do is update your record based on how much you bought or sold without having to touch the bitcoin or ethereum networks. So if you sold 1 BTC for 20K USDT, it would be something like this: UPDATE users_table

WHERE user= 'a298b112'
UPDATE users_table
SET usdt_balance = usdt_balance + 20,000
WHERE user= 'a298b112'
So as I mentioned above, It's only when you request a withdrawal that they broadcast the transaction to the network. |

1. They give one or multiple addresses for each user for the different coins there are and yes, they do keep the private keys.
2. It's just 1's and 0's moving around in their database. You're not broadcasting a bitcoin transaction when you're trading your BTC for another coin.
3. A deposit address is unique and connected to your account (user ID), no two people can have the same deposit address.
4. It's the same concept for all coins. They'll just subtract and add from/to your account's balance from their database.
Also:
- When you deposit to your BTC address, for example, the funds may not stay there (if you check the blockchain) and can be sent elsewhere (sent to the exchange's other hot wallets, or to somewhere else) which means that when you request a withdrawal, the funds will be coming from another address, and not the same you used to deposit.

Was it a Tails Live CD installation? If so and you haven't saved the private keys/seed either, then there's sadly no way to recover the funds.

You're saying Bitcoin wallet ID, so I'm guessing you're referring to a centralized service? maybe Blockchain.com?
If it's just an ordinary address, then you can try to see if it belongs to an exchange (using walletexplorer.com) and If it does, seek help from your local law enforcement.

I don't remember coming across this exchange before, but apparently, their hot wallets have been hacked today and 28 million dollars were lost. This is the CCO's statement: "Hackers have gained access to our wallet server, which enabled them to initiate withdrawals from our hot wallet," Strijers said. "We keep 99% of our assets in cold storage and only 1% in hot wallets. The hacker gained access to these hot wallets."
Strijers also revealed that the entirety of the loss will be covered by Deribit's balance sheet assets, which are separate from the company's $40 million insurance fund.
For those who are using the exchange: Make sure to not send the funds to your previously generated addresses, as they're going to be replaced by new ones. Security incident update
Deribit is working towards opening regular on-chain withdrawals later today.
Once this happens all Deribit deposit addresses for BTC, ETH and USDC will have to be re-generated, in the front end you will see your previous address(es) have been removed.

لقد تواصلت مع فريق الدعم، لكنهم لم يتمكنو من اعطائي الجواب، لقد طلبو مني الانتظار الى أن يقومو باطلاق البطاقة بصفة رسمية و الذي سوف يكون في بداية العام المقبل.

أعتقد أن هذا المشكل سوف يتلاشى مع الوقت: مع دعم البنوك و المؤسسات المالية للبيتكوين. حتى و ان كنا ضد هذه الفكرة بمأن هذه المؤسسات قد لا تعطيك المفاتيح الخاصة بك، أنا متأكد أن هنالك من يستخدمها. يعني في حال موتك، سوف يتم اعطاء البيتكوين الخاص بك لعائلتك ، كما هو الحال بالنسبة لأموالك. الحل الأمثل في الوقت الحالي؟ برمجة Dead man's switch كما سبق لي التكلم عنه في الماضي[1]. بحيث يتم ارسال الأموال لعناوين الورثة بطريقة أتوماتكية عند موتك. في رأيي هذه الطريقة طريقة جيدة لأنه و لكل بساطة: - لن يتوجب عليك اعطاء مفاتيحك الخاصة في حياتك، و بذلك لن يكون هنالك داع للخوف أن شخص من الورثة سوف يقوم بسرقتك قبل موتك. - سوف يكون عندك الوقت الكافي لتعليم الجميع بطريقة عمل العملات المشفرة (شراءها، و بيعها). أقول الجميع لأن هنالك مشكلة 'الطمع' فان قمت بارسال الأموال أو تعليم شخص واحد فقط، ليس هنالك ما يضمن، أن هذا الأخير لن يقوم بسرقة حق الاخريين [1] https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5069728.0 |

أعتقد أن هذه أول حالة أقرأ عنها عن توقيف شخص بسبب تعدين البيتكوين في أحد البلدان العربية. المقال لم يذكر طريقة القبض على الشخص، لكن أفترض أنه قام بشراءها و انزالها معه في حقيبة من بلد اخر؟ لأنني لا أرى كيف يمكن أن يعلموا حول هذا الأمر. المقال لم يذكر أيضا نوع العقوبة، و هو الأمر الذي كنت مهتما بمعرفته خاصة و أن هذه هي المرة الأولى التي نسمع فيها عن القبض على معدن. و للتذكير، كان قد تم حظر البيتكوين و العملات المشفرة في عام 2018 (بيع، شراء، تعدين و امتلاك). |

You said you couldn't sign a message, what's the error showing to you?
If the address is not showing in your addresses list for some reason, and you still have the address copied somewhere, then you can go to Tools > Sign/verify the message, paste the address, write whatever message you want, and click sign.

لقد كشفت دراسة من شركة ChainAnalysis أن منطقة الشرق الأوسط و شمال افريقيا سجلت أكبر نمو في العالم من حيث استخدام العملات المشفرة مقارنة بباقي دول العالم. المثير في الاهتمام هو أن مصر احتلت المرتبة الأولى على الرغم من موقف البنك المركزي منها. نفس الشئ للمغرب التي احتلت المرتبة الرابعة و التي قد تم حظر البيتكوين فيها في عام 2018. كذلك نجد أن لبنان و مع كل المشاكل الاقتصادية في البلد قد احتلت المرتبة الثالثة. ما رأيكم حول هذه الدراسة و هل ترون أن هنالك متسع لنمو أكبر؟ خاصة الان و مع تنظيم دبي للعملات المشفرة و دعم منصات جديدة لدولنا العربية؟. |

لقد قامت منصة BitOasis بالاعلان عن تعاقدها مع MasterCard لتوفير بطاقات ائتمانية لمستخدميها. على حسب المقال، سوف تكون البطاقة متوفرة للمتخدمين المتواجدين في منطقتي الشرق الأوسط و شمال افريقيا: The cards will allow BitOasis customers in the Middle East and North Africa to make purchases at points of sale or online, "thereby adding consumer protection - such as provisions for dispute resolution and refunds - which doesn't exist today when paying with a digital asset," the companies said.
لكن لا أدري ما هي صحة هذا الأمر، و هل فعلا سوف تكون البطاقات متوفرة للمغاربة، الجزائريين، و التونسيين مثلا، أو أن كاتب المقال كان يتكلم بصفة عامة خاصة و أن المنصة تروج نفسها على أنها منصة لمنطقة الشرق الأوسط و شمال افريقيا. على أي حال، أعتقد أن المبادرة طيبة خاصة و أنها الأولى من نوعها في الدول العربية (على حد علمي) و أتمنى أن تقوم المنصات الأخرى مثل كوينمينا و رين باتباع نفس الخطوات. |

The private key is what allows you to spend your funds. If you set a password, you're adding an extra layer of security, passwords are not alternatives to your PK. See this from Electrum's docs: Electrum uses two separate levels of encryption:
- Your seed and private keys are encrypted using AES-256-CBC. The private keys are decrypted only briefly, when you need to sign a transaction; for this you need to enter your password. This is done in order to minimize the amount of time during which sensitive information is unencrypted in your computer’s memory.
- In addition, your wallet file may be encrypted on disk. Note that the wallet information will remain unencrypted in the memory of your computer for the duration of your session. If a wallet is encrypted, then its password will be required in order to open it. Note that the password will not be kept in memory; Electrum does not need it in order to save the wallet on disk, because it uses asymmetric encryption (ECIES).
Wallet file encryption is activated by default since version 2.8. It is intended to protect your privacy, but also to prevent you from requesting bitcoins on a wallet that you do not control.

I can't believe I'm suggesting BitPay, but you may want to look into them for alternative (and cheaper) payment methods. They announced yesterday that they'll soon start supporting stablecoins on the polygon network.
