22281  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2013-12-11] CNN: Can Bitcoin replace PayPal? on: December 14, 2013, 05:16:39 PM
Paypal will integrate bitcoin if they can reduce their operating costs, or if they can make money off of it.

It can reduce the operating costs. But they will lose money out of it as well, due to the reduction of profits.
22282  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do I go about making a paper wallet? on: December 14, 2013, 05:13:29 PM
Well, you'll probably be alright, but not if you want to be super safe, and it's not a good idea if you're already paranoid. You could just write the public and private keys down instead.

That is a good idea. Will give it a try.

omg no.
humans are incapable of doing this task reliably

I'll just make it double sure. No worries.  Grin
22283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin support a country? on: December 14, 2013, 04:31:39 PM
Right now, if some small island nation such as Nauru or Palau adopts it, I think it could be handled without any major issues.
22284  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitstamp on: December 14, 2013, 04:29:40 PM
At least the person who is running the exchange is well known.

Is his real identity known? Can you give me some info on him?

The real identity of the person who ran Litecoinglobal was also known. But in the end everyone lost money in that also.
22285  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Pool or solo mining? on: December 14, 2013, 04:25:54 PM
If you are mining Bitcoins or Litecoins, I would strongly recommend you to use pool mining. However, you can try solo mining with some of the newer altcoins.
22286  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-12-13: European Union threatens bitcoin seizures on: December 14, 2013, 04:23:44 PM
The proper title for this thread is:
"2013-12-13: NY Times Dealbook: European Union Warns on Bitcoin"

Just FYI.

Thanks for pointing it out. The term "seizure" itself is ridiculous. How can they seize the Bitcoins, when they don't have the private key? The only way for them to do so is to physically detain the owners, and then torture them to reveal their private keys.  Grin
22287  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do I go about making a paper wallet? on: December 14, 2013, 04:20:59 PM
I am quite concerned with the security issue. Is it safe enough to print paper wallets in shared printers? I can't afford a printer right now. Please advice me.
22288  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Recovery actions for stolen Bitcoin on: December 14, 2013, 03:44:59 PM
QUESTION FOR THE GROUP

If a paypal account, is used with 100% feedback on localbitcoins.com, then suddenly the paypal account owner claims "hacked" and reverses paypal monies for local BTC, what negligence is their on the part of the silly paypal account person who allows their account to be puppeted for two months??

Absolute BS. How can anyone claim this? Was this guy sleeping for 2 months? Can you give me the details of his Localbitcoins.com account?
22289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Help Us Spread Bitcoin to Mexico on: December 14, 2013, 03:42:29 PM
The Bitcoin scene is quite developed in some of the Latin american nations, such as Argentina and Costa Rica. We can send emissaries from these nations to Mexico.
22290  Other / Off-topic / Re: Let's talk about how hot Asian girls are. on: December 14, 2013, 03:40:33 PM
I prefer european girls. much better and less "male"

Hmm... nowadays some of the European girls (especially the Western European and the Swedish ones) are more masculine than their male counterparts.  Grin
22291  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bitcoin and Islam on: December 14, 2013, 03:37:49 PM
Islam might be the 2nd largest religion in terms of followers, but I don't think that the Muslim bitcoiners represent more than 1% of all active Bitcoiners.
22292  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitstamp on: December 14, 2013, 03:36:12 PM
So what?

This might explain.... perhaps.

If an EU bail out occurs then that means agreeing to tough banking regulation terms.
22293  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitstamp on: December 14, 2013, 03:02:53 PM
So far, from the feedback here for the past 3-4 months, Bitstamp seems to be more reliable as compared to Mt Gox and BTC-E. Just keep it in mind that they are based in Slovenia.
22294  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Rest in peace... on: December 14, 2013, 03:01:26 PM
The French Resistance were heroes , the people in Afghanistan are terrorists.
It doesn't matter what do you do in a war , the winner always picks the heroes Smiley

Yes. The winner gets the chance to rewrite the history books. So we have Serbs the "eternal aggressors" exterminating (sic) the poor, innocent secular Albanians.

Also, we have a group of eternal victims, 6 million of whom perished in WW2.

The list can go on and on...
22295  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bitcoin Nation on: December 14, 2013, 02:58:58 PM
Why can't you guys and gals use Burning Man's organization as a base to build a XBT Nation? They need to keep a place safe and clean for a lot of people in the middle of the desert for a while.

That desert is still located inside the territorial limits of the USA. So I'd veto this move.  Grin
22296  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Switzerland to vote on $2,800 monthly ‘basic income’ for adults on: December 14, 2013, 02:56:23 PM
First you stop the madness and stop the printing out of unlimited quantities.
Second, as the National Bank belongs in part to the cantons, this huge pile of Euros gets distributed to the Cantons to get rid of all this debt they have.

Sadly no one will support you.  Huh

I just watched Atlas Shrugged for the 5th time. This thread and its main contributors are resembling the film and its characters ever more closely.  Grin
22297  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine... Revolution. on: December 14, 2013, 02:53:42 PM
Malthusian BS nonsense. The carrying capacity of the earth is 100s of billions. The problem is technology is held back by governments, cartels, and the resistance of the people who can't upgrade their knowledge fast enough.

If you really think that the world can sustain a population of 300 or 400 billion people, then even god might not be able to help you.  Huh
22298  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-12-12 DailyMail - Will using Bitcoin to buy sex trigger financial evolution on: December 14, 2013, 02:51:41 PM
Oh you mean porn sites legally have to verify someone's age before giving them access? And they do that via taking cc details?

Is it so? Then what about those free streaming sites where no CC is required. No verification is needed for them?
22299  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-12-10 Cyprus Central Bank warns about risks in use of Bitcoin on: December 14, 2013, 02:49:56 PM
That's strange, isn't that were bitstamp is located?

Yes. That's why I was asking. I hope the bankers will not seize the Bitstamp accounts and make a simple 90% haircut.  Grin
22300  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Need to switch to mBTC soon on: December 14, 2013, 02:48:20 PM
Can't wait to have the same discussion about the need to switch to Satoshi soon ! Tongue

Too early for that. You may have to wait a few more decades for that. BTW... what is your age?
