2261  Economy / Goods / Re: *WTS* 1oz American Eagle & Buffalo Gold Coins on: December 24, 2013, 07:21:44 AM
really? no one wants gold?

I'll buy it off of you, once bitcoin stabilizes a bit  Smiley

Gold is a far more stable investment than Bitcoins, however you don't get $500 up and downswings over the course of a day or two with gold. Its hard to let go of your coins when they were 50% higher a week ago.
2262  Other / Meta / Re: petition to rename bitcointalk dogecointalk on: December 24, 2013, 06:55:57 AM
I agree with you, right up until you imply 4chan is where "teens and young adults who aren't nerds" hang out. Lemme tell you: dogecoin is being adopted 100% by weirdos. The weirdo tent has been expanded, and that's good. Unfortunately, we have not yet come close to penetrating the population of 30-somethings wearing wifebeaters, secretly begging God for death between sleep and work. Those are the kinds of normal folk we need to be reaching out to.

The beginning support for dogecoin came from a group of people on /g/ talking about mining the coins early, hyping it up, and then dumping over inflated coins on "memetards".  I'm curious to see if they have already dumped and there was enough buy support to cover it up, or if it hasn't happened yet.

Sadly, I thought it was a stupid idea and didn't get in, due to the nature of how past pump and dump coins have gone. If it gets past that, who knows what will happen.
2263  Economy / Goods / Re: [guaging interest] live tropical fish on: December 24, 2013, 06:48:39 AM

besides using chemicals to stun fish being extremely illegal here if a diver where to attempt this he would be caught very quickly and face jail & huge fines due to the amount of divers and relatively small areas where harvesting is allowed. so its not uncommon for other divers boats coming over to inspect just looking for anything they can report Smiley

Of course dewormer is on hand & other things, but due to the magic of copper i havent had to use dewormer in 2 years. All ask around depends on the type of coral. eels are also for sale.

Magic of copper?

Also, not only am I interested, but I'm trying to cover all of the grounds so the questions that any perspective buyer would be wondering is all answered up front  Smiley

Also, ask about cephalopods, I'm thinking about getting cuttlefish, or maybe anothe octo.
2264  Other / Meta / Re: petition to rename bitcointalk dogecointalk on: December 24, 2013, 05:22:05 AM
I will respect an alt coin when they write their own code period

Sunny King has done a pretty good job of making new coins with unique features.(Peercoin and Primecoin) Solidcoin was interesting as well, but that didn't turn out quite so great.

Rucoin was one of the coolest coins I've had the pleasure of using, but it wasn't open source, had shady devs, and it had some really odd features like having to register for a built in chat thing. That combined with the fact that no one knew what they were doing, and it kind of disappeared. However, it was dual chain, so you could either mine the Scrypt or Sha chain and they worked together concurrently. I have no idea what happened to it, but because it wasn't open source there were no copies  Sad
2265  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Group Buys Safe? on: December 24, 2013, 05:08:38 AM
There have been group buy scams. Before investing in a group buy, please research extensively into the organizer's history, and judge for yourself whether or not they are trustworthy.

In bitcoin land, there are no chargebacks, and no room for error. If you aren't 100% confident in someone, don't give them your money. You wont get it back.
2266  Economy / Goods / Re: [guaging interest] live tropical fish on: December 24, 2013, 04:44:16 AM
mmmm neat. Well the catching method is good. Some people will use chemicals to "stun" fish so they can be grabbed. The problem with that is, it messes them up pretty bad, and its not uncommon for them to die if not then, the next time the get stressed (during shipping).

Ich isn't as much of a problem as parasites and other lovely things that one would want to keep out of their tank. So no dewormers and such are used?

I've ordered from Reefs2go, and they as far as I have been able to tell have a pretty nice setup. I'd be interested in ordering with bitcoins though if everything turned out to my liking. Do you know if your divers have coral harvesting or aquaculturing licensing as well?
2267  Economy / Goods / Re: [guaging interest] live tropical fish on: December 24, 2013, 02:44:19 AM
How long are the fish quarantined if at all? Do you medicate before you ship? And catch methods? Estimated shipping costs?

I may be interested depending on a few factors.
2268  Other / Meta / Re: Moderator application on: December 23, 2013, 10:08:21 PM
I doubt anyone's reported quite as many threads as I have  Cheesy

No, no they haven't. I've also mentioned before that I would recommend you as moderator if we needed any extra staff.  Smiley

Although, I marked one of your reports bad by accident once, and I feel bad about it  Sad the handled/bad report options jump around when you update them.
2269  Other / Meta / Re: This forum's software is horrible on: December 23, 2013, 08:22:16 PM
No
Theymos was waiting for years, but the actual software started being developped only recently

This, and I'm pretty sure Theymos isn't spending $4M on forums software.

Also, I probably shouldn't have said soon, since I have no idea when it will be live, however its in production now.
2270  Other / Off-topic / Re: I know this comment will go unnoticed but... on: December 23, 2013, 08:19:09 PM
I hope this isn't too off-topic, but what's the best remedy for Jock Itch on the groins?  I've tried bleach, vinegar, tinactin, and scolding hot showers..
It feels like a christmas tree is violating me 24/7, while its on fire.
Any tips?

2271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [DOGE GIVEAWAY] XMAS LUCKY DRAW SEEDED WITH 500k DOGE on: December 23, 2013, 08:04:39 PM
I take it the staff here don't care about their members being ripped off..

If it's not a scam then why not do this through staff? Do you expect anyone to send a random member with a few posts, thousands of coins?

We don't judge whether its a scam or not, the fact that people are quizzical about the OP's intent means that people are smart enough to do their own research, and make their own judgement as to whether something is a scam or not.

2272  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Nvidia Shield for $240.00 on: December 23, 2013, 05:45:02 AM
SaltySpitoon is in the process of buying my Nvidia shield - it's not yet finalized.

I won an ebay auction for one that I didn't think I would win, so I am not buying it. I do believe Omegaflare actually has the NVidia Shield, however escrow is never a bad option (pretty sure they are open to it anyway)
2273  Other / Meta / Re: This forum's software is horrible on: December 23, 2013, 05:39:39 AM
New forum software is being built as we speak which will replace the outdated model.
Really really? o.O

Yeah, thats one of the reasons that Avatars haven't been fixed yet, why fix the old system that is going to be replaced soon anyway.

2274  Other / Meta / Re: This forum's software is horrible on: December 23, 2013, 05:32:15 AM
This is the most user un-friendly forum software I have ever seen.  I can't believe people actually post here.  If you aren't waiting the allotted time between searches, you certainly can't post because you haven't met the appropriate "waiting time" for a new user.  Then when you finally get posting privileges, type out your message, and then hit "Post", an error comes back saying you have to wait 360 seconds because it says something to the effect of you are posting too much and have to wait...

WTF?!  Is it the general mentality of the admins that they don't want easy use of their forums?  Because if that is the case, mission accomplished!!

Those of which you speak are the newbie restrictions, those are completely necessary and here to stay.

SMF is on ver 2.x now, maybe they should upgrade..

New forum software is being built as we speak which will replace the outdated model.
2275  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Nvidia Shield for $240.00 on: December 22, 2013, 04:51:24 AM
Thanks, and you are firm on $240?
2276  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Nvidia Shield for $240.00 on: December 22, 2013, 04:34:32 AM
You are firm on $240, even though they can be had new for $250?

Anyway, I'm interested, would you mind taking some pics with your name on a piece of paper or something like that?
2277  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 【ohhhhhhhhh】Molecular coin on: December 21, 2013, 05:03:09 AM

Well, he was away cuz of exams right? That can't still be going on can it?

The beginning of his sporadic absences were during midterms. Final exams at most schools were last week to this week, so he should be done as of today. Just finished mine today too  Smiley
2279  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Reddit’s science forum banned climate deniers. on: December 20, 2013, 08:07:21 PM
How are you going to make a chart about what happened a billion years ago or a million years ago? The earth is 6000 years old so to setup your straw man with imaginary ideas...well that may make you feel smart or justified to live without GOD but you arent changing reality. How about a chart a trillion years ago your imagination is active you can do it.

Fact: the oldest reef on the earth is 4400 years old, the Oldest desert is around 4000 years old which is inline with what GODs word says...The earth is 6000 years old and 4400 years ago there was a global flood when GOD judged the cross eyed human race...like what we are nearing again now that the end of the world is coming again as the world prefers the TV to the Bible.

And to the majority of deceived blind souls Noahs Ark has been discovered- Look up Ron Wyatts discovery verified by the Turkish govt. Sure satans media and false churches have created other false sites to confuse the matter but the truth is out there.

Global warming doesnt exist except in the minds of oppressed and deluded human minds

Not to take this off topic, but you are kidding right? I'm not entirely well versed in religious ideaologies, but is anyone really under the belief that the world is only 6000 years old? I thought 6,000 years ago was just the start of human history when we developed writing via sanskrit or cuneiform, and people started settling around in the great river civilizations? I'm also not sure where you are getting your facts about reefs and deserts, but I'm pretty sure the Great Barrier reef's LIVING coral is older than that, with its base being something like 750,000 years old. Did dinosaurs die off within the last 6000 years?

Anyway, I agree with not intentionally polluting the world, excess green house gasses should be avoided, don't take a flamethrower to the polar icecaps, etc. But I don't think that in 50 years 98% of the earth will be covered in water, and we will have to become dolphin people to survive, or whatever the current theory is is no where near accurate. Should we protect the environment, sure. But I think there is a lot of hidden agenda in what is being fear mongered at the people.
2280  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTS] 0.1 BTC for $50 PayPal └(°ᴥ°)┘ on: December 20, 2013, 06:06:20 AM
I sent him $50 - please pay by the AM or get a bad rep & hopefully my paypal money back - I'm on a low income

Don't worry about it, even if he doesn't give you the coins, you can chargeback, even as a gift. Thats why doing Paypal to BTC trades are stupid.

I've bought Bitcoins from people before for Paypal, and whenever I do, I mark it as payment for website design, or coding work, and I leave in the comments that I was completely satisfied with their work, or something like that. What people don't realize is that all paypal payments are reversable, gift or not, and if Paypal finds out you were doing a crypto trade, they get mad.

All that said, if he does give you the coins, be a good guy and don't chargeback  Smiley
