2301  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [100 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + UserDiff; ASIC tested on: November 05, 2013, 01:11:18 PM
Can someone please tell how can i ajust miner's difficulty ?

He recently went to vardiff I believe, so the pool adjusts it dynamically for you. There used to be a difficulty box you could edit on the worker screen.

The fact that you merely ask how to connect, and need help with config shows the hashrate you speak of, you do not own. Sorry... Game over. Get on a pool man.. I showed you the way.

You mean the fact there's no solo instructions in the OP and I was curious to know if it was any different than normal, because I made a typo in my password line preventing me from connecting, and most other coins include a daemon and this one didn't? That's what you're pointing at? My sincere apologies for overlooking that while I was vpn'ing through an iffy wireless connection across city while at work.

You showed me the way? I'm already on 2 TAG pools. I think you're missing the point of just kicking around with solo mining. TAG isn't my only coin, I don't need to be in a bunch of pools for it.

And yeah I guess I don't own the hashrate I speak of. The extra 40 amp subpanel I just added is just bling. I use it mostly for LED strings to light my pool while I cpu mine and play tiddlywinks with my phone.

Gawsh, thanks. I know the way now.

It's been roughly 6 hours. I put 4mh of power to solo mining tag to see how it goes. According to Cgminer I have a bunch of accepts, some rejects. I don't think I found any blocks. In the past, an accept usually meant a found block, but the number of accepts I'm showing would make me rich.

Thoughts?

 You seriously want thoughts? Ok.....

4mh aint shit. Real miners hitting this hard in pools. I am by no means big.. but I throw 9.7 at a pool, and im barely in the top 5 - 10. The way the difficulty works with TAG, you are literally rolling dice in Vegas.

There ya go! Get on a pool man.

 Here's a prop to one of the best pool's with the fastest and most accurate stats I have ever seen. Torzsy, you rock man! (lower my fees man! LOL) http://tag.cryptominer.net

I meant thoughts on the acceptance and if they're likely orphan. Yes, 4mh isn't much to solo, I just wanted to see how the server head would react with it. I could throw 40 more amps of my total hash power at it, but then I'd be taking away from my other pools. I guess I'm not a real miner.

I'm in 2 TAG pools right now, and I'm finding the most blocks in all of them. Just wanted to kick the coin with solo and see how it compared. I found a little over 2,000 blocks solo, but likely all were orphan.

But thank you for your input Smiley
2305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TagCoin - The World's First Rewards Coin - Released on: November 05, 2013, 12:48:08 AM
Failover is set, but it never switched pools.

They could be orphaned.  If you really did find a block, regardless of whether it was orphaned or not, it will show in the transactions tab.

If you get tired of solo-mining, you could always point that hashing power towards my pool.  We could use a little help Smiley

I'm thinking orphaned most likely. I might try your pool at some point, give me the link again? I'm kindof loyal to 2 others right now, but I'll at least check yours out for a few.

Failover is set, but it never switched pools.

When you're not watching it does.  Check the pool and you will see the accepted shares corresponding to what you see in your miner.
This happens to me.

-tb-

The reason I say it didn't is, it would cycle through 16 other pools. They would all have to fail to get back to the one it was connected on. The odds of that... Plus I keep an eye on the output/pool connections when they switch.

2308  Economy / Services / Re: Butter Bot!: New Bitstamp, BTC-E, and MtGox EMA Trading Platform on: November 04, 2013, 08:52:59 PM
I began trading crypto earlier this year and found it difficult to track the movements and trends (especially overnight), so I've downloaded the Butter Bot demo and am intrigued by the moving averages, tweaking settings, etc.

I'm currently running the 30 minute trade frequency setting, but I'm wondering what would happen if there is to be another crash in the BTC market similar to April (which I suspect is coming soon). I was sitting in front of my computer when it happened in April, and as I recall, the market went from 260 USD down to 50 USD or so in the matter of 15-30 minutes. If my trade frequency is set to 30 minutes, isn't it possible that the bot could entirely miss the start and finish of the crash and I'd end up selling at 50, if this were to happen again?

An ideal quality of a bot certainly is to remove the element of human emotions, as a poker might put it, "going on tilt" and making bad calls, but in the event of a crash such as the one described above, would it be best to take manual control, or should Butter Bot on a 30 minute trade setting be able to cover something like this? I'm not afraid to take control if I have to (and have the opportunity), but I'm just wondering if one could depend on a bot to ride through something like that?

Thanks in advance for any feedback, and I have been enjoying the trial so far  Smiley

Test your settings with the 15 and 5 minute trade frequencies to see how backtesting might go. I'd say look back in each time frame: 1 week, 1 month, 3 month, etc, all the way back to the crash. It may help.

Obviously if it folds within 10-15 minutes and you're on a 30 minute trade cycle, you'll miss the sell, but the bot will buy BTC at rock bottom pricing.

In all honesty a lot of situations can occur: Even if you have 15 minute trading, what happens if something occurs outside of that window?

Don't forget, there is the tick offset feature. This may help, as a lot of automated traders simply work at the top of the hour. You might want to do 30 minute trading with a 5 or 10 minute tick offset. Try playing with it in backtesting, just like above.

I predict we'll be at $300/btc soon, and bubble will pop at $400. But it will rise again Wink I look forward to the next bubble pop. I will be on a buying frenzy.
2309  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Comprehensive ASICMiner Blade Setup on: November 04, 2013, 08:15:09 PM
I only have gen1 blades, so no personal experience with the new ones.

If it were me, regardless of spacing, I would definitely have fans blowing top->down on the blades. This ensures cooling. Most definitely fans if they're not spaced. Spacing is always a good thing, to keep the hot air buildup to a minimum.

Why did I get 77 times smaller reward for block #267753?

0 for these...

It looks like your hash rate is really low based on the number of your shares and the length of time on those blocks.  You should probably switch to another pool that uses a pay per share method of compensation.  To fight against pool hoppers slush uses a scoring method that gives more points the newer the share is.  You can work out the math, but my general understanding is that any share older than ten minutes after the pool solves a block is pretty much worthless.  As an example...if you had 300000 shares in the first thirty minutes of a block and then turned your miners off, if the block got solved an hour later your reward would be 0.

Chad

Some of us have experienced the issue of not being paid (or, losing pay) for shares which met the score criteria. At least for me, that was my concern. I have been slush-loyal for months, and suddenly my confirmed payout started dropping, along with unconfirmed payout, and for a couple of days with just 60gh/+ pointed at slush, I wasn't getting anything--despite new blocks being found.

Something is up. Could be something innocent/simple, as recently changes have been made to his end.

I switched most of my power to another pool and haven't had an issue. Not knocking slush, but something just seems off.
2311  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: New Mystery about Satoshi on: November 04, 2013, 06:49:42 PM
Speaking of Occam's, I would suggest that when you have the figure of Satoshi:

* Leans toward privacy
* Masterminded a lot of what we know today
* Spent significant time on it
* Continues to be mysterious

It would  negate theories such as:

* Lost access to a computer lab
* Uses public computers
* A third of the machines broke and he was like 'lol' and kept trucking
* Needed supercomputers

Though those aren't bad suggestions, they just don't seem likely. Someone bright like him wouldn't plan something this important and leave the likelihood of lost access to the wind, or ignored broken machine input. It's not as if he had a clear deadline, at least that's my thought.

As to the hardware, it's highly likely he simply had some high-end equipment, which didn't take much to achieve 7mh in 2009. Also, individuals like him often do put easter eggs into things, so a message or a simple tag of some sort, is not outside normalcy. The mystery part makes me wonder if there's a reason for it, aside from just because.

Just random thoughts off the top of my head.
2312  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Bitcoin POS (point of sale) Register - Anyone made one, working on it, etc? on: November 04, 2013, 06:34:28 PM
Any companies making one?

Better yet, has anyone here made a simple dedicated one out of a tablet/PC/laptop/etc?

I'm looking to make one for my small business uses. Just looking for ideas. Post 'em up if you have links or photos of ideas.

Next question: When I solo with BTC daemon, I have to specify a payout address. For TAG, since it's using the qt gui, will it simply know to use the address I have defined in TAG?

Any blocks found and confirmed will be credited to the tagcoin-qt address.

That's what I was thinking. Just wanted extra reassurance, thanks.

2.  Yes and works with external IPs as well.  Just need to add them to the rpcallowip.

I had 8MH solo for 14 hours and then gave up after no block found.  Good luck.

-tb-

Awesome.. thanks. Best of luck to you. Figured I'd give it a shot. I've got more power than that, but with only 4-6 I've been finding blocks on my own via pools. Figured it was worth a shot to see what happens.

I'll post my results after 6 hours.
2314  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TagCoin - The World's First Rewards Coin - Released on: November 04, 2013, 05:34:38 PM
Stupid typo.. it was a mistyped password.

Next 2 questions:

1. For payout, do I need to specify an address in the config file, or will TAG use the one in the QT/GUI file?

2. Is it possible for me to point multiple machines at the single instance of TAG-QT for mining?

i fire up QT with -server, and the GUI loads. Port 10500 can be telnetted into and it's looking for json/rpc connect stuff. cgminer can't connect to it though.

Although it's not the problem, if you set the .conf file with server=1, you don't need to add the -server switch when starting tagcoin-qt.

Also, set rpcallowip=127.0.0.1.  I'm not sure if it works with outside IPs, but it always works for me with 127.0.0.1.  Of course, if you have a mining farm, you'll be setting multiple IPs.

Yeah the server flag is redundant, I kept it there just for posterity.
2315  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TagCoin - The World's First Rewards Coin - Released on: November 04, 2013, 05:18:32 PM
So still no info on solo mining? All i want to do is point a bunch of my mining farm to a single system, and mine the coin lol.

Same as any other coin. Hope you've got some power if you're going solo.

I've tried it the same as other coins.. doesn't seem to like me much. Historically I've used the demon executables, but this coin only provides the qt gui executable. I made a config file and fired it up with the server param, but can't get any systems to connect. I can telnet so the rpcport is open, but the systems can't connect otherwise.

Vesper- make sure your tagcoin.conf file is configured correctly.  If you want, post it here to verify that it is set up correctly.  If it is, you just need to make sure your client is up to date, and you should be able to solo-mine.

As per previous posts on the topic:

listen=1
daemon=1
server=1
rpcuser=myuser
rpcpassword=mypass
rpcallowip=*
rpcport=10500
port=8623

i fire up QT with -server, and the GUI loads. Port 10500 can be telnetted into and it's looking for json/rpc connect stuff. cgminer can't connect to it though.

Cgminer stuff, I'm using BAMT, so like my other solo mining stuff I have it defined as a pool connection:

"url":"ip:10500",
"user":"myuser",
"pass":"mypass"

The rest is pretty much automated.

Update - Just realized I had a typo in my password! DOH! Haha.. wow, it's always something simple.

Next question: When I solo with BTC daemon, I have to specify a payout address. For TAG, since it's using the qt gui, will it simply know to use the address I have defined in TAG?

Hey Pablo,

yes that makes sense..I wonder why i didnīt think about that   Embarrassed
I already startet to get funds to btce over OKpay, i took me 1 month to get verified there...fuckin sucks when you want to do profit  Angry

Thanks alot!

Have you tried Coinbase? It's an online wallet, but will allow you to integrate credit cards/banks/etc. You can buy/sell BTC fairly quickly, and verification is super quick also. You can also use it as an online wallet just like blockchain. I use it to cash out cheaply/safely/quickly. You can sell your BTC today and it wires to your bank within 3 business days, and the fees are really cheap!

Check it out, and if you want to use it, use my referral link in my sig below. It'll give you $5USD in BTC.

I have the same issue too... I setup everything and started it up... and waiting for some "ACTION"... but nothing happens... Sad

I was hoping the bot to trade 10+ times daily.... to see some action... I currently have the DEMO...

and it is not a demo if it is not TRADING right? Tongue

anyway... it seems like the default/given setup for EMA/threshold is for the SAFEST way possible...

The default settings will work, and are safe. Right now you won't see much trading, but you might see some buying if you fund your account with USD. This is because the past few days it's been going up slowly. Once it drops beyond your sell threshold, you will see a sale.

Use the backtesting feature to test your settings. I don't want to suggest particular settings to make trading happen quicker/more often, but you can try it out yourself in backtesting. We can all provide setting suggestions if you ask, but everyone has their own preferences.

I've made money with it, but it took a few weeks and it's best with more than just a few $ worth of btc. Use my referral link if you want to buy Wink
2317  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Comprehensive ASICMiner Blade Setup on: November 04, 2013, 04:54:54 PM
vesperwillow,

Foil will work but it might also hold in heat because it's a continuous membrane (whereas screen isn't a continuous membrane).  It should work fine in regards to RF shielding so long as the foil is connected to the PSU ground *BUT* you might notice heat build and as a  result, hashing efficiency drop-off.

H@shKraker

I thought of that. I figured it won't be too much of an issue considering the test will only be for about a minute, and I'm going to wrap it around the rack (not right around the blade) which allows for a couple minutes before the thermal issue will be a problem.

High CFM fans with 30*F ambient air keep the blades plenty frozen lol.
2318  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official ASICMINER Hardware Information on: November 04, 2013, 04:18:11 PM
The real money is in getting the hardware on first preorders, and then reselling it at a markup.

People were buying blades at $700ish and selling them for $1000 or more on ebay.

Grab a cube for 2btc, sell for 3btc, or whatever floats your boat. Done deal.

I've had several phones within a meter of my blades, including one or 2 hosting wifi, and there was never a noticeable issue. Perhaps on a case by case basis, or orientation?

I have some shielding sitting around (aluminum foil), I might actually try this for giggles and report back the data.
