Regarding their NPS, I guess I understand now why they didn't sell anything.
It was them who increased the diff, so they would have "protected" us from them and not from their competitors as stated in the NPS.
Maybe it was meant from the beginning to be this way?: if there's competition shipping en mass KnC would need additional money to build additional hw for themselves and it would be paid with the margin from sales

I still call BS. They said if competition ships noticeable amounts during Dec-Feb, they would compensate Batch 1/2 folks by offering more up for grabs. They didn't define 'competition' or 'noticeable' amounts explicitly, but most consumer protection situations would work under the guise of the context of what was established at the time of writing as potential competition / hashrate.

Competition and hashrate has been shipping, available for next-day shipment (not preorder), since December, and continues to ship. I bet it will inrease now that folks realize KNC is BFL'ing their customers somewhat. Hell, it could be said that they caused difficulties for their customers by abusing hashpower. They've clearly mined with more than 5% of their shipped hashpower.

As such, they outright failed to uphold their end of the bargain. This isn't the first time either. They failed to produce upgrade modules as well, which they were supposed to do.

Fail. Fail. Fail.

I'm surprised someone hasn't been P/O'd enough to look into some sort of suit.

In fact, looking at the path they've forged, I'd almost speculate it was planned from the beginning. No wonder they and BFL_Josh seem to get along so well at the conventions.

What i don't understand is why make a big datacenter now with Jupiters when you can set things up and do it with Neptunes with lower power consumption than Jupiters unless they plan to sell them after they have Neptunes in hands.

Because they don't have Neptunes now, they have Jupiters. One of the most important factors, beyond efficiency, is mining now vs later. Which is why the folks using antminers and the other chinese equipment over the past 45 days, will make more than someone getting a Neptune 3 months from now.

STR.CRIPTOE.COM - Reliable, staff who is constantly on top of their duties, excellent pool. I made plenty by mining here and trading. Check it out.

Just caught the newsletter. So basically, what Avenger and I have been saying for quite awhile, has come to truth. They absolutely ignored their NPS for their Batch 1/2 customers, and have been hoarding 28nm. Unless I'm taking that newsletter entirely wrong.

Don't you like how they talked about the NPS as if it related to the Neptune customers, when it didn't? Am I one of the few in this thread to notice that?

And how they're talking about things "as the end of the NPS phase" comes. Fancy wording. Basically they're like "lol, we held out and nobody held our feet to the fire". Competition has been shipping for almost 2 months now, throughout the entire NPS phase.

Anyone seeing this as good, stop being optimistic and be a little more analytical: they're basically putting on a parachute because they're not 100% sure of their internal milestones anylonger. This way their ass doesn't skid on your face as hard as a pure crash.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but they're going to be using on-hand 28nm systems to provide the 3TH per Neptune customer (the first 1,200) if they're late. They supposedly only ever kept 5% of their total deployed hashrate. Is 5% of their original deployed hashrate equal to or less than 1,200 3TH machines? ..... Something to think about.

They've clearly jumped ship from the community, from supporting you folks who propped them up with your free capital loans.

Glad I didn't bank on KNC this time.

I agree with the above.. I had downloaded the 'updated' version shortly after it was announced, but found out the link hadn't been updated right away (apparently). Had to re-download it later on.

wow this thread is actually like a broken record.

I understan why people cry in BFL, BA & AcM threads but why everyone cries here so much i have no idea

+1 and it's not a theory.. you all can verify by going to https://www.kncminer.com/pages/faq

"Why are you selling the Miners and don’t mine yourself (will you use the miners for mining yourself)? ?
We are mining ourselves, but we believe in the bitcoin project and a diversified market is the best for all parties. We will continue to mine but we do not believe in a monopoly of miners. We will not mine with more than 5% of the hash rate we sell, and we will never mine with customer hardware."

Here's a theory:  KnC has their own mine.  They cannot control what other manufacturers are shipping and are at their mercy regardless.  What they can control is their own product.  By not adding module or Jupiter (or whatever) sales, they are stemming the tides to protect their own interests.  Perhaps they're trying to recover their own ROI (BTC -> BTC) before undercutting themselves by selling more KnC gear to consumers.

Their "ROI" was already taken care of. They've been operating in the black since batch 2 most likely.

R9 270 & 270X are among the most efficient KW/KH ratio. 5 = 2.4mh @ 950w.

Suggested brands: PowerColor, Visiontek, Gigabyte, MSI

I can't fathom why anyone would think KNC gives a damn about where the bitcoin or fiat is coming from, so long as they get it.

Roll Eyes
1311  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TagCoin - The World's First Rewards Coin - Mandatory update to v 1.3 on: February 03, 2014, 04:03:20 PM
I say just switch over within a day or so of creating the fix. Hell, 3/4 of the pools are still not fixed. If a pool OP doesn't stay on top of things, or designate someone to be their arbiter for that purpose, then they're just going to up a creek. Miners will hop to the right pools at that point. Let the system fix itself basically. Why delay further???

As to the wallet, I downloaded the 'new' one a day or 2 after you put the link up, but it still shows 1.02 ?? The filename was correct and everything, but the version shows wrong. I'll redownload it later.

I'm sitting here watching the 'blocks remaining' count increase constantly.
1312  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TagCoin - The World's First Rewards Coin - Mandatory update to v 1.3 on: February 03, 2014, 01:02:20 PM
As of 0801 EST it appears there's 2 chains still, reflecting what was posted above.

Also having wallet sync issues myself. Shutdown the wallet Saturday night, now it's showing active connections but nothing is happening.

Around 0900 EST the wallet sync appeared to start working, blocks were going down.. but now as of 0933, the block count is bouncing up and down. It goes up 50-100, then it goes down, then it goes up, then it goes down ...
1313  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TagCoin - The World's First Rewards Coin - Mandatory update to v 1.3 on: February 03, 2014, 04:26:56 AM
Maybe this isn't easy to do or technically feasible, but, what if the PoW blocks were odd, and the PoS even? Or something like that. Then they couldn't collide.
1314  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TagCoin - The World's First Rewards Coin - Mandatory update to v 1.3 on: February 03, 2014, 12:05:48 AM
For me the question is why do you think 1.5% POS doubled the value anyhow?
1315  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TagCoin - The World's First Rewards Coin - Mandatory update to v 1.3 on: February 02, 2014, 08:01:29 PM
That sounds reasonable.
1316  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TagCoin - The World's First Rewards Coin - Mandatory update to v 1.3 on: February 02, 2014, 07:44:48 PM
While you might not think orphan resolution of a year being a bad thing, it would be terrible. Most hash power would stop mining the coin, like they did recently.

PoS has always been an issue with coins. I would kill it if there would be no negative effects.

Also, define long target time.
1317  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TagCoin - The World's First Rewards Coin - Mandatory update to v 1.3 on: February 02, 2014, 01:11:29 PM
I am glad I sold all my TAG.

Might not have been good to sell so early..

Anyone on hashfaster... The pool is on the wrong fork.  EVERYTHING you are mining is being orphaned and has been for the last 8 1/2 hours. Move to a pool on the correct new fork if you actually want to earn some coin.  I'm not sure which pools are on the correct fork but I know that tagmining.com has not had a single orphan since the fix came in so I guess it's safe to assume they are on the correct chain.
I'm actually not sure about tagmining.com either, because though I've seen no orphans in my last 8 hours of mining, I've also had no confirmations either. Sooo.. ? lol

I'm seeing confirmations, we've moved along quite well.
1318  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: February 02, 2014, 05:38:25 AM
At what point did KNC's "Q1/Q2" ship date become, either implicitly or explicitly, a Q2 shipdate.

He said 'KNC said', i haven't seen them say anything on their website nor via email in quite a while now

When Orama explicitly said they were still in the design phase for the chip, and it was later state 'early design phase'. This removes Q1 as a possibility simply due to the reality of design->test->verification->foundry->packaging->KNC

This was discussed several pages back.

I'm going with tagmining.com, it's always averaged out better. C'mon over, the water in the pool is just right. Let's do it guys!

Can anyone tell me if there is something going on with hashfaster's pool i've been mining on it for over 24 hours and only got 3 TAG?HuhHuhHuhHuhHuh?

Some folks were saying it seemed like they were on the wrong chain entirely
