I understand that the first batch of Jupiters had to make over 70 coins to break even in BTC and that was going to be tough...  but how can you look at a Neptune and say that it will produce less than 10 coins.    My two jupiters today still create 1 coin a day (combined).      The risk is very different than it was with purchasing Jupiters when BTC was at $100.

unless you've got 2 November Jupiters pushing 700GH/s each I find it had to believe you can mine 1 BTC a day.

please explain how you're doing this if it's true.
or is it a mistake and you're calculations are incorrect.

I have less than 200gh pointed to slush right now, and I'm making .25btc/day. I have no doubt he's making 1btc/day.
2042  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: December 04, 2013, 04:43:43 PM
Catching up on the last few pages.. lots of folks talking about why they didn't release something a smidge smaller than the Neptune so folks could still 'get into the game' or simply not spend as much for a Neptune. I understand that angle, and I'm one of the folks perturbed by it.

Keep in mind, however, what I mentioned many pages back. KNC at the outset wanted to 'eventually' get into the industrial market. This is their first major step toward that. The industrial market is, afterall, where BTC mining is going to go, as it will be required based on the difficulty.

Few home-based owners will be able to mine in a worthwhile fashion beyond, say, 2014, as a guess. TH is already the new GH, and after 2014, PH will likely be the new TH. Simple math and understanding of 20nm technology/current-requirements will show that the home-based user will simply not be able to do anything, unless they spend $$$$$ to install multi-phase and many panels. IE, Industrial.

That's likely why they're shifting their flagship systems this way. It would be nice for them to offer something less, but there are other companies who are doing just that. Black Arrow is one.

I have no doubt each Neptune will produce more than 10BTC which is what I paid.

The price seems high when you compare it to other companies that took preorders but think about how much those customers paid in BTC.   30-40 BTC?  Definitely not 10 for over 3TH!   I would have loved to see Neptune priced at $6k but that is almost a joke when pricing it at 6BTC.

If you are in tune with the difficulty, the amount of estimated network hash to be delivered over the next 6 months, and the many other factors.. you could calculate and see why 3th might only make 10-15btc in 45 days, or 20 over its lifetime.

Likely you will panic sell when BTC takes the next dive.  Good luck!  I'll keep mining.

I have never--and will never--panic sell. But way to take a wild guess.

Panic selling is silly, especially with house money. I have nothing to lose, so my scripts and manual trading methods will continue to bank on the tried-and-true buy-high-sell-low. Yes, I have losses, but my net has been 300..400% since August. In BTC.

just for curiosity and for benchmarking purposes :
How many BTC are you doing per day with a Jupiter?
- 0.4 Per day at Slush for the past 7 days -

I make .24btc/day with less than 200gh on the same pool. What are you doing wrong?

Did you find a solution  yet, or are you just letting the board sit idle?
2045  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: December 03, 2013, 02:54:41 PM
Oh and would anyone else care to share why not only has the price of the Neptune gone up but the SHIPPING has too? Christ mate. Talk about gouging both new and existing.

What's the alternative?

Buy the same amount in BTC, and hold it, and/or trade with it. I made 30% BTC inrease over the past few days via trading.

Example...If you spend 18btc on a neptune, and let's say in a perfect world it turns out a total of 25, you've made 39%. And that's 3-6 months after my recent 30% increase. Likely, I will make more increases over time.

So yeah, the alternative is to do what I did, and be making profit.. today. I have no doubt the Neptune will be stupid powerful.. like connect it to a 3 phase outlet and it'll chug along at 6TH or something.. but with a sharp eye, you could take the same investment and do similar--if not better. The Neptune is just a lot easier.. plug it in and let it chug.

Or, you could end up like my brother in law who went from 18 BTC to 3 BTC by day trading. There are winners and losers in day trading, and a great deal of luck is involved.

People always seem to talk about their day trading gains but often fail to mention their losses.

Same with mining, you could end up with die issues, or a lightning strike, or stupid difficulty (which will be most likely).

And it's not just day trading, it's long term trading. My scripts waited a week before anything was triggered. There were some small losses, and then cha-chink-cha-chink. 50% gain, 10% gain, 30% gain. Back to sit and wait. Play with the house money, that's what I'm doing, and skim off some of the profit.

Not a HFT here, more of a hawk.

I mine, I B&H, I trade. Do what I can like everyone else. There's no single guaranteed method for anyone. Just pointing out there /are/ alternatives to simply tossing coin at something and hoping for the best.

I'll log in later and look at which settings it was using at the time.

Part of the issue is, you can't backtest simply based on a custom time period (bitcoinwisdom will kindof let you do this). So you may not be able to view the profitability for a week just by plugging them in. I told Pablo a month ago he needs to implement this ability, so you can examine swings without having to wait a week to use the 'last week' backtest.

One of the reasons they don't use a custom timeframe is that this bot is a long-term bot--but it would be helpful to specify custom timeframes anyhow, to learn from swings.

I use bitcoinwisdom and some of my own excel spreadsheets to figure out settings I like.

I do remember they were pretty sharp settings though, I believe I had one of the triggers set to 3.8 or even higher, to catch actual dives and ignore the HFT noise.

But yeah lmk. I could put it to good use.
2049  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TagCoin - The World's First Rewards Coin - MANDATORY UPDATE REQUIRED on: December 02, 2013, 02:34:43 AM
We have just moved tag.cryptopools.com to its own server.  The slow response of the website is resolved.  Pool is back online.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

Happy mining.

-tb-

I shoved some machines over there and got nothing but rejects and 'share above difficulty' errors. Only tag pool to give me that since switching back. Any idea what's going on there? It's like it couldn't compensate for the speed.

I'm mining there now without issues.  Did you change your miner to connect to tag.cryptopools.com:3334 instead of cryptopools.com:3334?  Need the http:// also

-tb-

Ah, no I didn't have the tdp on there. Will correct that.
2050  Economy / Services / Re: Butter Bot!: New Bitstamp, BTC-E, and MtGox EMA Trading Platform on: December 02, 2013, 02:32:14 AM
Haven't caught up on all of this thread, but I logged into my trading server to see how things went during the pop today. On BTCE I made 50% profit, and on GOX I made 10% profit.

Color me happy lol. It offset some of the small losses on Friday.

Figures are in BTC, not fiat, fwiw.
2051  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [FS]LiteCoin Mining Rig or trade on: December 01, 2013, 07:08:53 AM
90 days of scrypt mining, those gpu's aren't going to last forever. I'd say $60, maybe $70/card. Interested?
2052  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS LiteCoin Rigs And Litecoin SUPER COMPUTER*!*!* on: December 01, 2013, 07:04:10 AM
I'd be interested in just the cards, specifically the 79xx's. LMK price.
2053  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: December 01, 2013, 06:30:51 AM
Who the hell got free boards or special treatment from KNC? And how and why did they get that treatment, freebies?

Also, some people are just passive and like to turn around and take it up the ass...that's just the way some people are, human, right?

[...]

Haters will be haters... Jealousy is retarded since someone getting freebies does not change *your* situation and Pheonix is in full disclosure so a big plus for that.

It's not just a haters situation when many people were plagued by the same issue, and only one of them got resolution. I believe that's the point some folks were making.

and the fact remains, you are not the only person with issues.

my rig is STILL underperforming and you have already mined more than me, by spending less than others and selling your rigs at more than anyone else could possibly do, due to free boards.

I AM NOT implying you were not due them.

do not dispute this.

I AM implying that you have received better treatment than most and therefore have a much better opinion of them.

NOT due to better equipment, or less lies, or less 'confusion'

SOLELY due to free hashing power and greater resale value - a HUGE advantage over ANYONE with underperforming equipment that is 'not eligible' for an RMA as it still exceeds its original spec.

i DO NOT dislike you, we havent even met.

what i cant stand is your failing/inability to consider their are less glorious stories than yours.

and they do not deserve your adulation & neverending support when they fail to even explain basic matters.

you seem like a good guy, as does btc orama - but you both too willing to call the unfortunate, trolls & whatnot.

how the eff would you feel with shitty rigs and reading how some other guy got free shit and made bank and sold out and made bank again and again and then prepubescent chumps like asic-k start calling you a douche or asking for security to throw you out??

i guarantee you wouldnt be so chirpy!

or am i mistaken - too much under-bridge dwelling?

has anyone seen this?
http://ecointalk.net/topic/270-estimated-production-capability/
and what do think? possible?

That's not a lot really. Less than a thousand a day. Cointerra has multiple automated assembly lines, whenever they come online they could do 25k a day.

and you believed that tripe?

anyway, if all these places were pumping out miners at these capacities it would be wiser to buy shares in electric companies than btc

Just pointing out 20000 a month isn't a lot. Nor is 25k a day on an assembly line. Perspective.

Oh god not the technical discussions on ship date bulcrap again... didnt we go through this already.

Lol I think the same thing, but knc is doing it to themselves. They could've prepped for on hand and fast delivery, but they focused on future preorder.
2060  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: December 01, 2013, 12:50:30 AM
I'm upset they promised modules to Mercury and Saturn owners, and then claimed they couldn't figure out how to manage that on their store front end. Which is total bs.  Then they basically gave the modules to Jupiter owners. That's probably my main gripe regarding promises.
