2321  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Miner Starts, PC Reboots on: September 05, 2013, 10:19:34 AM
2GB is a bit slim, especially if you're going to mine scrypt coins (which is all 5870s are good for now).
2322  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin wallet QT any better for mac? on: September 04, 2013, 06:09:34 PM
I think your machine is broken.  I've NEVER had Bitcoin-Qt do that, across several machines.
2323  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My 3x60Gh\s BFL SC arrived and don't working. on: September 04, 2013, 02:45:58 PM
Surely BFL have a tech support line?  I mean, they charged enough for the miners, surely someone there can help you with the drivers?
2324  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: **UPDATED** Current P2Pool Server List on: September 04, 2013, 02:33:47 PM
847Pool is back online.  Rewiring and stuff completed.   Grin

Fee is at 0.5% now.

Still the greenest P2Pool Node?  May be...
2325  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Block Erupter Blade (New Model)]Low Price, Limited Quantity on: September 04, 2013, 08:10:22 AM
These new Blades - they support LP/work restart? So they can work with p2pool?

The old ones work with p2pool, so why wouldn't the new ones?  Huh
2326  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Discussion]To ASIC, or Not To ASIC? on: September 04, 2013, 08:09:19 AM
Terrible.  You didn't even proof read it, did you?  I spotted at least two obvious typos.

Do everyone a favor and take that down.
2327  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Teamviewer Issue on: September 04, 2013, 07:22:24 AM
Don't use Teamviewer.  I use Logmein or VNC.  Logmein is brilliant, and free.  Works in any browser, and does a great job of resizing the screen (my home PC runs at 1080p and I can control it no problems on a 1300x768 laptop screen).
2328  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Can Erupter Blade be used with p2pool? on: September 04, 2013, 07:19:08 AM
Like I said I don't use P2pool,  but I would double check to make sure the ports you are listening too with your Proxy are "getwork" protocol ports IE (8332 default setting).  Is p2pool stratum compatible?  I don't know.

p2pool does getwork and stratum on the normal ports by default.  The ports are listed in the p2pool console when it initially starts.
2329  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: USB Block erupter on: September 04, 2013, 07:15:57 AM
Install VCP drivers, run bfgminer with the -S eruper:all -G parameters, that'll mine with the Erupters and not the GPU.  Remove the -G to mine with GPU as well.  Simple.

Or you could use cgminer to do the GPU mining, and bfg for the Erupters.

Personally I find bfg to be far better for the Erupters - I still use cg for GPU mining (basically because it's working and I couldn't be bothered changing it).

Any updates on the blades, yxt?  Difficulty isn't getting any lower (up to 86mil). Sad
2331  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Labor Day ? Blades on Strike ? on: September 03, 2013, 08:40:18 PM
Sounds like a dead/dying PSU to me too.

It's not working now.  Sad

I think it's knackered.
2333  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [UK GROUP BUY] ASICMiner USB Block Erupters and Blades #6 on: September 03, 2013, 07:33:34 PM
You need BFGMiner 3.2.0 for the getwork server, so I think you'll probably have to .git and compile.  I'm a serious linux n00b too, so don't ask me how. Smiley
2334  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: eligius.st down? on: September 03, 2013, 07:19:40 PM
Looks like the database server has had a coronary.  The site was up earlier with database errors.  Mining is still working, as are payouts, it's just the stats/front page that's broken.
2335  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [220'000 GH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees, Stratum, MergedMining, Private Servers on: September 03, 2013, 05:39:46 PM
Fair enough, stratum_proxy.exe it is then. Smiley
2336  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [220'000 GH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees, Stratum, MergedMining, Private Servers on: September 03, 2013, 04:42:11 PM
Yep, I knew about the Linux version of BFG.  I think that might be the option, run it in a VM on my mining host machine.

Maybe you should keep the Getwork server going, it's an easy option for Blade users (especially as they're getting more popular thanks to the greatly reduced price)?
2337  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: When KnCMiner pool switches on 240+ TH/sec will these other pools fold up? on: September 03, 2013, 04:39:53 PM
Never thought in a million years I'd see Ruston-Bucyrus mentioned on a Bitcoin forum.  Shocked
2338  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Block Erupter Blade (New Model)]Low Price, Limited Quantity on: September 03, 2013, 02:54:35 PM
should it be any different now?  Spare me your sanctimonious crap, it's still highway robbery.

Come on dude, it's not like you are forced to buy these.  If you don't like the deal, you just don't buy.  Nobody robs you.

Everyone says they need to inform the clueless about BFL's practices.  I am only doing the same about these.  If you shout down the logic you are condoning the practice of ripping people off for profit.  If people have been warned and still buy, then there is nothing I can do but say "I warned you".

Guess what?  No-one in this thread is interested in your opinion.  Get down off your soap box, and go take it somewhere else.
2339  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mining LTC with 7790 on: September 03, 2013, 02:44:28 PM
But therefore takes twice as long to do anything, which is a bit of a problem because difficulty goes up.  You need as fast as you can the soonest you can to make the same amount of coins.

Double the speed, double the price, double the power will make it's ROI back quicker than the slower card.  Plus the 7950 will have a better resale value when you're done with it - heck I sold my 6970 cards for more than I paid for them, after using them for a year hashing.
2340  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [UK GROUP BUY] ASICMiner USB Block Erupters and Blades #6 on: September 03, 2013, 01:32:07 PM
There's still some pools that work with getwork - Eligius and BTCGuild both still have getwork servers.  The stratum proxy is simple to run however.

I'm planning on running my Blade mining towards the stratum proxy running on my home server (it's on 24/7 so no big fuss there), and the backup pool on the Blade will be going towards either Eligius or BTCGuild's getwork server.

As for PSU, I'm currently running an old 30A 12V bench supply (the type used by HAM radio and CB Radio folks).  It's not very efficient (big old transformer), but it was free.  I'm currently running the fans and USB hub for the Block Erupters off it, and it's running at a little over 2A load.   The fan in it is on a thermostat, so it's starting and stopping every few minutes, which means I might end up going the ATX PSU route.

If you run Linux, you can also point the Blade to the getwork server built in to the latest version of BFGMiner - one program could run your USB sticks, Blade, GPUs, etc.
