Basically what I'm saying is: give me your best price & we will see :-). I've no idea what they're worth at the moment...

I'll toss a 5BTC offer out there, I'll pay shipping.

They're far less efficient than similar units (Jupiter for example).

Pretty much take these types of offers, or keep it and mine.

^-- Good thought.

BFG wouldn't be able to bind the port if bitcoin or another client had the port open, and would throw an error. That's why it's important to make sure you see the http-listening line when BFG fires up.

I'm loving Butter. I'm really on edge looking for when it can do altcoins and other exchanges (cryptsy for example).

I was one of the folks who had some losses on the trial period, but once I kept trying the bot out and getting a better feel for it, I realized how it worked, and bought a copy. My past several trades have been profit, the bot has already paid for itself.
2365  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Open letter to Russell Brand, asking him to join the bitcoin revolution on: October 29, 2013, 12:51:08 PM
More people would use altcoins if it was as simple as any other transaction these days, like swiping a card. It's not quite that simple for a lot of the non-techs out there. Some folks to this day avoid paypal even, and that's among the easiest systems out there.

If you could make a front end system for the 'general masses' which was super-dumbified-down, then you'd have a rush of people getting into at least using it for transactions.

bfgminer -o mining.bitcoin.cz -u shefflad.worker1 -p 1234 --http-port 8332

if i type the ip address into browser so 192.168.147.130:8332 it acknowledges something wants to connect to bfg miner but when blades connected it just keeps requesting update for work

For simplicity I would make sure the blade and proxy are on the same subnet, as was mentioned above. If that's too much to do, put a computer on the same subnet as the blades and use it to test the proxy connection to see if you can actually reach the proxy from that subnet.

Hi Pablo, has there been any talk about making a trade log ala backtesting format for real performance review? My bitstamp transaction history is a mess and I'd have to break out a calculator and an afternoon just to make sense of it all.

IMO a method of tracking profits & losses is sorely needed. I recently had to give up on using MY-BTC.info to track mine because the manual entry of all the little buy/sell orders every time the bot triggered was just too much to bear. And now I have no tracking method at all, which is very unfortunate.

I just wanted to chime in & mention that I would like to see the developers spend time on this.

I've suggested this a short while ago and he put it on the list. I'm looking forward to it myself.

Ever considered simply copying/pasting the columns of trade history into excel??
2368  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Comprehensive ASICMiner Blade Setup on: October 28, 2013, 05:36:36 PM
Yep, the problem is, with all "xxxxxxxxxxxx", the board never goes under load, so I'm not sure how I can meter in this state.

I'd set the clock to low, and then would choose a VRM (I usually start left), see what its reading is, and adjust down to 1.05. Continue right and do that to all of them, then go back and check each one to make sure they're ~1.05x. I'd reboot the blade and see what happens, while monitoring the left most VRM. If they haven't come online, I would up the VRM another 0.05 and see if it comes online. If not, reboot, and try again.

I'd repeat this process up to 1.20. If they don't come online at all on low clock between 1.05-1.20 I'd say something is definitely toast.

What's the process for getting a replacement board?

I  believe you contact friedcat.

I have two of the old style blades. one has been chugging along nicely at 10 Gh/s with the low clock. today i started the second one. They are both sharing a 490 watt supply. the second one came up with a bunch of Xs. powering on and off got it down to 4 Xs it was running at about 4Gh/s and after the last restart is running at 1Gh/s. is this a power supply issue? do i need to give each it's own Power supply? Both are using the same Slush proxy with unique workers. Huh

Make sure the blade is properly connected to power. You'll want 16gauge wiring at least, and make sure you have 2 grounds and 2 positive going to each connector, using each port on the green connector. Once you verify your wiring is proper and the connections are not loose, verify your 12V rail can support 110watts for each blade you have. I'm sure it does.

I use a 330watt AC to DC convertor (not a computer PSU) and it works perfectly for me, running each blade at 14GH. Cooling and proper power connection is critical for these tempermental things.

now i get the following error

Failure: stratum.custom_exceptions.TransportException Failure:

Is slush's proxy x64 compatible?

hi i have a good power supply all wiring as to the pictures 4 black 2 yellow on a splitter. the blade powers up for about 2 min 15 sec and then restarts.
i have installed virtual machine with win 7 32bit and ran in mining proxy then directed the blades to my pc in virutal machine but still no luck. i use the mining proxy download from bitcoin.cz and use bat file with my details, i have bitminter, slush pool and btcguild tried all different setting but still same.
can any one setup a proxy for me (via instructions or remote)and i will give 0.2 btc as a reward

Here's something to try:

For my example I'll pretend i'm connecting to Slush's pool, my worker is named 'myloginname.blade', and the password is 'testpassword', my computer is a Win7 32bit system with an IP of '192.168.5.5'.

Download BFGMiner - the best Blade Proxy

First step is to download the Windows7 BFGminer: http://luke.dashjr.org/programs/bitcoin/files/bfgminer/3.2.3/bfgminer-3.2.3-win32.zip

(revision: use this link to grab the latest copy for your windows build: http://luke.dashjr.org/programs/bitcoin/files/bfgminer/latest/ )

Setup the blade

Next, go to the blade's setup menu, make sure your gateway and both dns entries are correct (they usually point to your router). For my example they would point to 192.168.5.1 (yours will be different)

Third step is to point the blade to your BFGMiner proxy. I would set '8332,8332' for the ports (or 8339 if you have wallet software on the proxy computer). For the Server addresses I point to the windows machine, '192.168.5.5,192.168.5.5'. Finally I make up a username and password on the blade, something like 'myblade:mypass, myblade:mypass' (it shouldnt match what you use for your pool connection, nor should it match any other blade).

Press the 'update/restart' button on the blade.

Prepare the computer

Now to setup the BFGMiner software, it's easy to give a test run. First thing to do is make sure your Windows machine isn't  blocking port 8332 (or whichever port you are using). Easiest way to do this is to disable all firewalls (if only to test, you want to make sure to properly set the firewall up later). Once you're sure it won't block the port (or you tell it to unblock if it asks you), then move to the proxy itself:

Starting the proxy

Slush's pool url is 'mining.bitcoin.cz', and my pool worker info is 'myloginname.blade' / 'testpassword'. Knowing this, and knowing I told the blade to connect to port 8332 of the proxy, here would be my command line:

bfgminer -o mining.bitcoin.cz -u myloginname.blade -p testpassword --http-port 8332

Debugging Issues

If BFG starts up and it connects to slush's pool, then you know the software proxy is working. You'll see a line which says 'HTTP server listening in port 8332', this lets you know the proxy is running. This means BFG is good to go. If it doesn't connect or doesn't run, then debug that first.

You should shortly after see a worker connect (usually shows up as PXY) and it'll start hashing. BFG will show connected to slush's pool with your worker settings. Wait 3 minutes if needed.

If you don't see anything connect, log into the blade and make sure it's pointing to your computer's IP on the proper port, and then hit 'update/restart'. This will force the blade to try again.

Let us know how it goes.

That's one of the ones I've been watching.. best of luck. LMK if he doesn't pay. BTC in the long run will be worth it, wouldn't mind a mercury for the right price. Right now mining just sucks so hard. I could actually feel the strain of my miners with the difficulty hop this weekend.

My scrypt farm pays for itself and still turns coin profits, which I love. No heating bill this year for me lol. With only 75% of my farm online and with no windows open the house temperature reminds me of Djibouti lol. With windows open and fans directing 40F* at the racks, the house average is about 78F*. Very comfy!

I've been thinking of contracting out the scrypt mining to see if anyone wants to rent some hash power. I wonder if there'd be any interest.

So far I'm going to so no to butterbot

Started it on Friday with default settings for gox

Started with 7.9 @ 195ish

First sale 188$ the lowest point this weekend.

First buy 205$ very close to the high for the weekend.

I went from 7.9 to 7.2 in two days.

At this rate I will be broke in a month.

I'm a recent investor in the bot, let me share my situation which is similar to yours. I tried it out a few times and was like, what the hell I'm losing BTC, but I had to remind myself it's EMA, it's long term--it's not simply "buy low sell high" (even though that's the general premise).

Basically, short term typically won't result in profits, so trying it out for a few days you won't see a profit (unless you happen to start the bot when the price is high and suddenly drops, which is rare). If you could try it out for, say 2 or 3 weeks, you would see the benefit. The tryout period is more to show how it works and that it would eventually work if you hit one of those magical trade points.

I have had about 3 weeks of trades (a few trades, not many) where most were losses by a single percentage, however, recently when there was a landslide drop in price the bot grabbed some more BTC. I knew the price would then go up and eventually sell high, it was a matter of waiting out and let the bot do its job. I funded my trade accounts with an extra BTC just to make sure to maximize my profit.

Sure enough eventually it grew and again dropped like 20-30$, and the bot sold.

The bot was holding some btc at $115 and some at $120, the peak value was $224/205 (mtgox/btce), and with my settings it sold at $208/190. Instantly made some USD which went back into those trade accounts.

About a day or 2 later the bot picked up on the next EMA rise in price and bought BTC for $190/178, and the price is slowly ticking upward again.

So I made BTC. Not a lot, but it's already paid for itself, so from here on out unless there's an epic failure of BTC, I'm going to be gaining BTC.

You have to wait it out, it's not a magical coin fountain, and you need to find what settings work for you. Mine are not the default settings, but even the default settings work well.

Here's a link to a read which might be helpful, the OP was exploring some settings similar to what I was. Mine aren't exactly what he has but they're close enough, and I find the settings work well for my "tastes": https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=290961.0

Some folks don't like waiting things out and get too edgy, so it may not be a game for them to play; what I tell people is to simply setup the bot and forget about it. Check on it every  now and then to make sure it hasn't crashed, but don't worry yourself with if it's going to work. The defaults alone will work.

As to funding, I would recommend having at least half a BTC (or cash equivalent) per trade account to really see the system work. I started out with .2BTC but it was only profiting by fractions. So to visually realize the gains, .5 is a minimum, I would really say 1BTC to get the feel for it.

Good luck to us all, cheers.

Anyone who wants more taxes, and believes it'll fix anything, lacks immensely in the knowledge of history and basic math.

Higher taxes are credited with helping California climb out of its financial quagmire.

Going back to the basic math and history tenants of my post--the reason behind their bankruptcy, and why they'll be bankrupt again. And again. And again.

Not to mention no civilization in known history has ever permanently solved its financial woes by raising taxes. If you're having financial woes, it's likely because you're bleeding out due to unwise spending, counting the chickens before the eggs have hatched.

Typically in civilizations, continually increasing the financial burden of the people leads to one of two conclusions: The eventual complete dissolving of the civilization, or civil war/emigration.

Sorry but avalon asic are now being sold mini (60ghs) at 4btc and avalon 4 module at 8btc , free shipping.
But that depend are you willing of doing biz with yifu and energy hungry asic.

Lol.. hey, some people need a room heater which pays for itself. (for awhile)

ha its all good.  Your probably about right.      I think someone may pay a little more if they have other devices and can add on.

But this surely better than the people still waiting for their devices.

If my ebay auction buyer does not pay - when auction closes I will probably just end up doing an auction here and seeing what I can get.

Link to your ebay auction?

Yeah I see it now, thanks for checking into it. I'm pointing some more hashing power this way right now and will let it do its thing Smiley

BTW the 'exchange value' stat, am I correct in that ut shows what your current account balance could potentially be exchanged for?

Is megacoin working right or am I just having horrible luck? Been mining for hours, getting 0 earnings.

Also, I don't mean to clutter your announcement thread, so lmk if you have a support thread elsewhere.
