1) Scrypt mining is just as fair for distribution as other algorithms. Anyone can go over to betarigs.com and rent rigs with over 100MHs for X/11, SHA-3 Keccak, Scrypt-Jane and Scrypt-N.

2) The price people are willing to pay to buy SilkCoin is directly proportional to the total supply of SilkCoin. To put this into perspective let's take 2 scenarios and say that SilkCoin has a constant market cap of 3000 BTC in both scenarios. In scenario one we have 30 Million SC, since there are fewer coins people are willing to pay more for them and would pay 10K satoshis for 1 SilkCoin. In scenario two we have 60 Million SC in existence, since there are more coins people are going to pay less for 1 SilkCoin, this time around they pay 5K satoshis for 1 SC.

Now lets say in scenario 1 you invested 5 BTC into SilkCoin at 10K satoshis per/SC that equates to 500 000 SC (out of 30 Million Coins) which is 0.016% of the total supple of SilkCoin

Now lets say in scenario 2 you invested 5 BTC into SilkCoin at 5K satoshis per/SC that equates to 1 000 000 SC  (out of 60 Million Coins) which is 0.016% of the total supple of SilkCoin

I dont know where you got your figures from, but i thought there is a maximum of only 100 million silk coins in existence?
So wouldnt 30 million be 30% of 100 million?

I am starting to have alot more faith in this coin than blackcoin, is anyone else with me on this?

This voting isn't represantive at all...

You've chosen just some coins but not all existing coins, so you lead all users to a certain selection.

Ive tried to weed out all the crapcoins, i tried to add some of the most popular coins, even alot that i have no interest in.
TBH im quite surprised how many votes blackcoin got, it is a good coin, but not that good, i think silkcoin will be far better.

Ive been trying to buy some XSI and cant see any available on Bittrex
Whats going on?

Hi nzminer,

The XSI market has not opened yet. We will update Twitter and this thread right after launch.

Damn, so should i have bought XSS before the deadline?
I was unsure what to do!

There will be plenty of XSI available after launch..you can mine them or buy them.

OK, thats cool, i just hope the price doesnt jump extremely high after the transition.
How long will it be before XSI is available?
I never mined this coin because the original developer abandoned it and i couldnt find the wallets etc.
It looks like this coin will be heading somewhere, so im going to add it to my portfolio Smiley

The thing is that over a quarter of all the DRK has probably been bought by people wanting to setup masternodes.
I expect there could easily be over 1000 people buying 1K of DRK to get a master node running, hence why the price has been driven up.
Eventually people will sell their coins off if the price gets high enough or if they find they are not getting much income from their master node.
So things will level out, i dont see there being that many master nodes, or else the price of DRK would be over inflated, due to its limited supply.

Just one question i have regarding this currency is in regards to the "reward curve"

Now that this has switched to POS, what makes this currency unique?
Since its main feature is now gone, i want to know what the new developers plans are.

Are there any other features that im unaware of?

Help, DRK dropped alot more than i expected last night?
What price did it fall to?
Pity i was asleep, as i would have bought alot more.

Why don't you start another poll? You could invite people to vote on what decade you will die of bitterness perhaps?

Strange how someone so 'knowledgeable' can't pull up a graph Huh

I'm locking down this poll tomorrow. We will see how good the predication are soon enough. The <$1 votes are mainly competitors, haters and trolls  Grin

Maybe the next poll should be trading strategy between now and end of June? Hmm, not sure.

i say it will level somewhere around $9 - $10 and then creep up from that, we just have to wait for all the buy/sell to become stable.
2372  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it over for blackcoin? on: May 18, 2014, 11:57:25 PM
yes its over.

come on over to SHIBE and get ready for the moon ride  Cool

I actually sold all my doge for NXT and am glad i did! Grin
2373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it over for blackcoin? on: May 18, 2014, 11:55:44 PM
to keep mining it yes.. but maybe you can save some coins in case something happen
Its in the POS phase, so can only be "mined" on a multipool.
I held around 200k, but never seemed to earn any interest on them, i dont know how long you are required to keep your wallet running for.
2374  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is it over for blackcoin? on: May 18, 2014, 11:45:25 PM
I see its crashed bigtime.
From what ive been reading there appears to be alot of arguments in the community.

It is worth holding a couple of K just incase?
Im glad i never wasted my time with this coin anyway.

It took litecoin the best part of 3 years to get to $20

Just keep in mind that when litecoin hit $20 (or $50 a while later), it had something like 23mn coins in circulation.

Dark only has 4.3mn.

There is a reason why "42" costs 23 BTC per coin and doge a few satoshis.

Any meaningful comparison should be monetary-base-adjusted.

The 4$ that Litecoin was, before its own boom, was actually something like 21-22$ per coin if you adjust its monetary base to DRK's 4.3mn coins.

yes quite true, when you look at that though, it appears litecoin actually had quite a high marketcap.
I doubt it will get back to $50.

Anyway im off to bed, its late over this side of the earth!

JGCMiner is obviously a troll.

Also, +1 on listing this is the first post.  Newbies should know the names of the blatant FUD'ers.

Sorry if i come across as a troll, I do hold DRK.
What annoys me is reading here all the posts about it getting to $300 or even $1000 like some are saying, I think it has the potential to reach $100 possibly, but i have a realistic approach.
Im not trying to spread FUD, but i feel its wrong to give newbies false hopes and have people dig deep into their pockets into such a risky investment, which goes for all cryptos, and DRK is still dropping, which i was expecting, so what if it goes back to $2? It still has the potential to get up to $100 if it is indeed a solid coin.

I intend to invest in more DRK, as well as NXT, MEC and other coins, its wise to not keep all your eggs in one basket and anyone with their head screwed on should agree.
But im not going to panic buy DRK like what is happening at the moment.

And yes, the "instamine" is a concern to me and it would be appreciated if i can get an explanation why the windows QT wallet was not released on launch. Again i still think this coin is a strong contender in the market for the short to mid term and it will easily topple litecoin sometime this year, but people like me need solid faith in this coin. Its silly to invest in something just because its going up in value.
Ive read this person's activities here; i think yall should reconsider him(nzminer) from the troll list. from an outsiders point of view, he only brings up legitimate concerns. from my community's experience, giving these outrageous(maybe one day they won't be) price that it COULD be is an easy way to get burned later(its what we went through at BC) this is not a speculating coin, this is a USEFUL and valuable coin. let the coins utility speak the price for you. talk not of how much it will be towards the moon, but rather keep the good news coming, and innovations and developments streaming.

Does anybody really use those "expected" prices as investment advice tho?  I don't think nzminer is a troll, but that seems like an odd thing to take issue with.  Price "predictions" happen in every coin's thread.  Every coin's, including bitcoin's, value could drop to zero if enough random events come together -- I am not sure if hounding on that point is useful discussion.

My view is that when there is a mass buyup of any coin, it will get dumped by alot for a quick profit, my realistic posts are valid that there will be a drop and what i predicted has happened, and its starting to get to a more stable price for the time being.
Ive been called a troll because of this, but whats the difference between this and the other end of the scale saying its going to top 1K?
Im not trying to rubbish DRK at all, i DO like it, but its not a get rich quick scheme like i can tell some people view it.

Correct, it is a get rich slow scheme Wink
