Another question regarding delegated harvesting, do you have to stop and restart delegated harvesting every time you change the remote server?
I havnt harvested any blocks yet and am unsure if im doing everything right.
I activated deligated harvesting on launch day and was running as a local node at the time as i didnt know much about how it worked.

No, it is not necessary to stop and start but probably is a good idea. No need to deactivate delegated harvesting. You can use it locally too if you want to.

If you change servers  it will say delegated harvesting is stopped. But it may still be running on the other server. There is no advantage to harvesting in more than one place. If you change servers you may not see the list of blocks harvested. But the amount harvested is in your account.

Why not run your own? It is free and easy. I will be posting a new tutorial for a free windows VPS soon.
https://forum.ournem.com/vps-nodes/how-to-create-an-amazon-ec2-vps/

https://forum.ournem.com/vps-nodes/list-of-dedicated-vps-nodes-to-conect-nem/

I will look at running one soon when i get a raspberry PI and dont need to leave my main computer running in my bedroom 24/7.

Anyway, how do i tell if delegated harvesting is working?
I have no idea if it is or not.

Im also getting this error now for whatever reason, was working fine earlier today.

Oops!

ERROR 305

The NEM Infrastructure Server (NIS) is not available. Try to restart the NEM software. If you are using a remote NIS, check your configured host for typing errors or use another remote NIS.

Is it possible to harvesting while computer is turned off??

Yes! :-)
After you have activated delegated harvesting, you need to go under settings and replace localhost with one public node address.

Tutorial how to set delegated harvesting:
http://blog.nem.io/how-to-use-delegated-harvesting/

List of nodes with public access:
https://forum.ournem.com/vps-nodes/list-of-dedicated-vps-nodes-to-conect-nem/

I hope this info was helpful...
If you have additional questions, I recommend visiting/joining official forum: https://forum.ournem.com/

OK, so i guess this explains why i have not harvested a single block since i activated delegated harvesting?

One other question, does the selected node address get stored in the blockchain? As im trying to work out how this all works once i turn off my computer? Does the node store this info?

An ideal situation: sell now, finish the redemption, send XEM value down to 50sat., rebuy, double my holdings and then announce the good news yet...

Problem: we dont live in ideal world, someone placed buy walls so the prediction is one big  Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh The price is still moving between walls, the area between 90 - 115 is a free area of trading now surrounded by huge walls.

The price should be the least important thing right now. Just look at what we are doing/working and check the price in a couple of months once we've revealed the NEM surprise.

Is there supposed to be an announcement this week?

Im excited.

Those who dumped on launch will be sad they did, good time to buy back though, you wont be sorry.

And also.  I believe this is a good question.

What is everyone's interest in not only Silk but in Cryptocurrency in general?

Of course we had this beautiful time of freedom fighting and the potential escape from financial clutches.. then of course there was the anon movement following the brief and consistently forked gui movement..

If anyone in cryptos has learned anything.  Bitcoin, if not alts in particular.. may not be the payment system for the basic necessities of life. It is a grand idea indeed, if not a utopian dream... but what is the realistic view of the destiny of altcoins?

There are leagues of brilliant developers who's coins are worth next to nothing on the global market cap scale.. Traders trade the coins, based on triggers, trends.. accumulations.. and daily profit..  Regulations require on a global basis full disclosure of your identity.. birth certificate.. home address.. sin number... in which case youre entire friends and family database is doxxed preparing the legion of trolls to destroy you if you hit a market cap that could threaten current regulations..

What is the point for all of you?  Why are you still staking SilkCoin?  For me... I got into this because i got fed up with snaky developers fucking people... The silkcoin crash was brutal... There were volunteers everywhere.. some trying to save their investment.. some trying to create new investment opportunities.. and some doing it for the goodness of their heart and the opportunity to hit the crypto stage..

I have been with this code, this plan, this community ever since because it has become a consistent part of my daily life... answering tech problems in the middle of the night.. spending the last of my money to pay developers that ghost and leave me hanging.. dreaming nightly and researching constantly the things that havent been achieved but are possible..

Just asking.  What's each of your crutches?  Why you here.  And what you want to see? In Silk.  And in Cryptos?

I believe the general idea is changing as scammers are slowly being faded out..
And technology and freedom will be making its slow and reasonably quiet entrance as it should be..

Alot of people have been in crypto for all the wrong reasons, pump and dump, get rich quick, its not the way it works, although there are some who have done well, mostly whales who are manipulating the markets with wads of $$$ at hand.

I think that the bubble has burst for most crypto, only the fittest will survive and we will see another rise soon, but all crypto has to move forward in progress, we have seen BTC take a dive and i feel it is being left behind but there is so much competition its hard to know what coin to choose at times.

Most of the weeds have been pulled out, alot of coins will be dead in another 12 months, but we wont be one of them.
We have to be in it for the long run and hang in there, wont be long before we can purchase goods in the shop with such currencies, should be no need to exchange to fiat like what most people aim to do.

1513  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread -100% Original Codebase - Over 70 Team Members on: April 05, 2015, 09:25:47 AM
NEM is trading like most shitcoins, big pump then the long painful drop. The new NODE.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5atPYaxX0lM

No need to be a genius to see that more and more people are getting their stake and sell half of it to secure part of their investment, but we're getting close to the point where there's no point to sell anymore (near nxt ae average price), so it will settle eventually. Then probably rebound a bit.

well, probably not so soon as new redemption phase is coming and probably more dumps. Traders are not dumb. Hopefully if these people didn't redeem before, they're in for long term and don't intend to dump. Well, most of them at least.

There has been a small dump as expected on launch, but there is still tons of accounts with the total of 2250000 or more, so lots of people are stil hodl. Things will settle down soon and then volume will increase as we get added to more exchanges.

Ive only harvested one block since the 1st of April and that block was on that very day!

Anyway, im wondering if local harvesting may work better? IDK, im pretty sure that block was harvested before deligated harvesting kicked in.
What does it mean with the "due by" option of one hour when you start deligated harvesting?
Should i have increased the number of hours?

The first day was great for harvesting because of lots of txs (transactions) made to Poloniex. It was my best day too in harvesting so far...
I believe it's the same if you run it locally or delegated...

The due by has nothing to do with your importance score and it does not affect your harvesting ability in any kind.

It has to do with executing that transaction:
It is fine whatever value you set there, the client will try to execute everythin immediately, but if something goes wrong (bad internet connection etc.) after the value set - the order will be canceled... It is like an interval during which the transaction will be tried to be executed.

Glad to have you in our movement!

No worries, hopefully when Bittrex and other exchanges add us there will be more trading volume etc.
Launch day was a frenzy!

1516  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Altcoin to invest in for 2015 and WHY on: April 04, 2015, 09:40:12 AM
NEM will probably be the best investment for 2015, but for long term success we will wait and see, the landscape has changed alot since 2013 and most coins were in a bubble, only the toughest will survive...

How is everyone getting on with harvesting?
Im on delegated harvesting, but havnt harvested any NEM since i started on the 1st of april.
Only one block was harvested and no NEM was in it.

Has anyone else had the same results? i have 2.25 million XEM

With the full 2.5mill XEM I've harvested one block with no reward.

I have ~ 2.5million vested and have harvested 2 blocks with 0 fees since launch

BTW is there a block difficulty chart?

im not sure, someone must know

Yes, I have harvested 5 blocks with 2.2+M of XEM. Local harvesting, not delighted harvesting. Laptop was on all day/night.

I just created a Raspberry Pi 2 NEM node. To me it seems fine so far. It just started, so will see how it goes for day or two or the rest of the week.

My Raspberry Pi is running NEM and NXT node together at the same time.

EDIT: RasPi htop screenshot

Ive been delegated harvesting, so my computer has been off most of the time, i dont know whats more reliable.
I also dont understand what the "due by hours" option means when starting harvesting.
