2381  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Chili – 30+GH/s BFL based Bitcoin Miner Assembly on: December 17, 2017, 07:55:20 PM
i still have a bunch of these and arctic accelero ii coolers if someone want.
I wonder if they would be profitable at current mining rates.... Monarchs are, which is beyond insane as are Neptunes. Maybe an underclocked chili could do it. Maybe I should dig mine out and stick a water block on it to see what happens......
2382  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S7 hash board versions on: December 17, 2017, 06:21:35 PM
Funny you should mention this, I have a pair of boards with a 1.71 version (45 chips) that do not seem to play well with a 45 chip 1.31 version board. Weirdest part is the "V" numbers on the boards:

1.31--works ok in the box "V3"
1.81--does not work "V2"
1.81--does not work "V4"

All read 45/700, so they are 45 chip units. I wonder if they can't work together, however the odd part is that the controller firmware is the S7-F1 4.73 code.....

Interesting.
2383  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9 one hashboard stop appearing in STATUS on: December 17, 2017, 02:22:53 PM
That's interesting. Any chance one of you who did this and has it working can go back to the old supply and check the voltages at the PCIe plugs on each board? I'm wondering if there is a sag somewhere, maybe the problem is one of the Bitmain supply rails is going bad and it shows up as a dead card..... (assuming their PS has three rails this could happen)
2384  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: My antminer S9 hashboards keep appearing and dissapearing -HELP on: December 17, 2017, 02:15:59 PM
Well that's interesting. Question: If you switch off antminer to your pool, fail, then switch back to antminer without resetting the board, does it still work?

I see all pools are antminer ones, so that's not it. Maybe Ant wants you to make them rich....

Is this consistent (ie: you can do it multiple times and get the same results)? What if you put the non-solo antminer pool first (still with ant's creds). Try changing one thing at a time till it breaks....

Indeed. What do you buy when you have no needs?

Can it break 20k? Come on little train, do it.....
2386  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: My antminer S9 hashboards keep appearing and dissapearing -HELP on: December 17, 2017, 05:39:22 AM
Check the voltages at the miner, I wonder if the power supplies are sagging and causing boards to drop out. These things take a lot of power....
2387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: December 17, 2017, 05:13:48 AM
I was able to get the board working again, however I noticed the 2nd batch of Neptune's are garbage. The 4 run without any issues but when the get hot the dies stop working. With my original cubes I don't have this problem and wonder if its a couple of things. 1. the fan isn't working well since someone mentioned the 2nd batch of Titan fans were garbage and weren't the same KNC fans that came with the first batch, and 2. I should go the same route Titan owners have by replacing the part that attaches the heat sink with smaller part so I can put heat sinks on all the VRMs? (this is more of a question).

Not sure what I need to check on the cube that won't work, would be nice to know if there is any thing I can check, I have a meter, maybe I need to bake the board a bit? IDK.

Then again cubes are cheap. I could buy one from Ebay but I don't or won't know if its a a batch 1 or something else.

Thanks

Check to make sure the heat sink is snugged down enough. It should not move if you try to rotate it on the chip, if it does it's too loose. For that go to the hardware store, get very small washers and put one washer under each screw for the sink. Also take the board off the frame and move one of the rubber things between the front two screws to better provide support under the board. Then put the screws on, heat sink on, and make sure it's snugged down tight with the washers, just till the sink will not rotate.

i have infinite patience, but....
Funny part is that makes no difference as to how much bitcoin you get. Ah well, mine on....

Maybe we should think about building pyramids for our tombs. Myself, I want a 4 dimensional tesseract over my grave....

order it delivered to Mars
Screw it: I'm building a rocket to go to Mars orbit, grab the Tesla, and bring it back to Earth. Just so I can drive by Amazon HQ and go BEEP BEEP!!!!

I suppose if they are series(as logic ICs should NEVER be) and they are shorting to ground you're going to get a lot of burnt connectors and I am seeing a lot of those here and on eBay. But slowly going out one by one that has to be completely unrelated to power delivery, unless it's the power supply is sending noisy power then there is no causal relationship between the first going out and any others, they are just all the symptom of the one continuous PWS malfunction. One other option , and that one is causal , when the first chip goes out it doesn't truly die it just goes insane, sending spurious signals throughout the whole power bus killing the others one by one (haha, I should call this the zombie theory ). Since you think I should do some more research maybe you could point me to the data sheets or maybe the schematics, lol thats funny.

Um.......

Think about it: The string of chips is powered by a buck/boost power supply on the board......

You can download the Datasheets for pretty much all the parts on the board other than the hashing engines, and due to a screaming lack of creativity newer chips are surprisingly similar to older ones which do have documentation online. As for schematics, there's really a limited number of ways these things can go together and you can go a long way by fuzzing the logic boards. Just takes time and patience.

I live in the United States, but I've been doing repairs all over the world. It's pretty easy to ship stuff over here, I recommend in-country Postal service or DHL as they usually do a good job. UPS is blah, bordering on dingbats. I always ship stuff Priority Mail myself.

If I can't fix it of course I return it; it's yours. I just request shipping charges back, and there's no charge if I can't fix something. Payment is due after I fix and test it, and if you're really not satisfied I'd do a refund.

I'll PM you shipping information and such. I really should build a website one of these days. Powered by Edlin....

Pet Shop Boys - Opportunities (Let's Make Lots of Money)

Cheesy, yes, but fitting for the occasion.

Looks different 30 years on. The image of blood being poured into an army helmet is.... interesting.

And here I thought we were stuck at 184. In the time it took me to eat breakfast it's up to 18650.

Is this how rich people think? "In the time I ate breakfast I made more money than the average person in a year..."HuhHuh?

Explains a few things.

Dang.  You're the second person I am forced to envy today before I've finished eating breakfast.
This thread is like a walk down Avenue Montaigne!

Hah, ain't there by a longshot. But still it's pretty nutty when you start thinking about it. Is this how rich people think?

That said, Bitcoin hasn't broken 19k yet. Those words are insane.

True, however:

1) It's not Bitmain
2) It's a pretty fair system
3) Far more distributed than your normal pool (although I really haven't heard of a pool stealing work lately)

YMMV as always.
2398  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9 dead hash board repair needed on: December 16, 2017, 01:54:09 PM
Likewise I have been doing a fair bit of work with S7's and now have my rig set up for S9's. If you want to send a board in for review, either post here or pm me for details.

Quick thoughts:
1) If it shorts out/shuts down a power supply I can probably fix it.
2) Make sure the board is warm and not cold before trying to start
3) If the power plugs are burned I can fix that as well.
