I dont think Volta will change anything seeing Titan V performance almost similar to 1080 ti give it a really good Boost the next Ti in my opnion will be at most around 15 percent more hashrate and 20 percent less energy consumption but 30-40 percent more expensive. Anyways Buying a 1080ti now will ROI it till when the Volta series hit consumers and are readily available Also the name 1080 resembling 1080p will Forever remain Cool
Agree, for now i'm still buying the 1080ti's. Hopefully their consumer cards aren't too much more expensive than the current TI.

What would be the preferred budget for having a miner. And what is the possible income?
You will really have to research this yourself. You need to decide what you want to mine, the really decide on cards. And then how many cards and if more then one rig. Just like possible income it's hard to say knowing 0 on machine specs we havent even talked about electricity price. And even if we knew there is a reason this forum is speculation we try to get good and educated guesses but no one can tell you exact ROI or how much ROI. You really need to have the budget before jumping into it. Only you know what you have in mind for this. I don't think Bitcoin would be the best to mine, I want to focus more on the new ICO that allows mining. Is it a good decision to do so?, knowing that it might fall at the end. I think there is a risk to a lot of new coins. Some pay off really well, some dont at all. Suppose if's how much you want to take the risk.

Also, depending on price, Hybrid cards are best, if too much more in your area than normal, go for as many fans as possible on the card.

Build a 1070 or 1070ti rig. If you have the cash, go for the 1080ti. Building the frame is fun too

Jump on whattomine, pick an altcoin there. Look it up on here, and the coins post should tell you how to mine it.

i am going to have enough 8 pins for the gpu's, i will be using 1200w for 3 gpus plus risers and the motherboard and one 1000w for the rest 3 gpus. im just going to used the satas that came with the riser to power them up
Some people recommend to not use the Satas. I’ve been using them though without any issues. You have been lucky - the SATA power connector ITSELF is only rated for 54 watts max draw on the 12VDC pins - the PCI-E BUS is specified to have up to 75 watts drawn from it (and some cards in review testing have been shown to pull more than THAT at least some of the time on peaks). If you are running the card in a "low power draw high efficient" setting, it might work OK for a long time - but why take the risk when MOLEX powered risers are no more expensive and DO power the riser safely (156 watt power rating on a MOLEX connector, just watch the WIRING for those). Server PSU arrived, so i'm now using 6 pins only

I am still mining Zcoin getting 5$ + solid return with auto convert to BTC on Mining Pool Hub Around 18 -21 $ a day with 3 1080 tis and the best part is they consume a lot less electric power then other algos This is really good if you have expensive Electricty 0.2$kWh+ Anyways what is this About bulwark Earning 20$+ per card , whats the algo and Is it price stable ? Or anyother algo that might give me more profit per card ?
Nist5 man, CRUSHING it for the last weeks now,(pretty much since nicehash died) volatile profits and diff, but always doing atleast 50%+ most anything else zcoin is so nice on power levels, its gonna be a sad day for miners when they switch to MTP haha idk, its cold as shit up here, i need the heat so im not mining zcoin right now myself ;p Sir are u using auto convert to btc on hashrefinery or similar , I am thinking of switching too its too cold here to and lyra2z just isnt cutting it anymore gpus mostly at 45-55Degrees celcius Had to set fan curve manual so that it doesn't start and stop again and again Auto convert on Ahashpool is nice.

Neoscrypt is nice these days.

Anybody know where to find stock of this in Aus?
If you want NVIDIA, go with the 1070, more fans the better. Quickest ROI these days is the AMD Vega56/64.
If you get some Ryzens, they are good for CPU mining
A 1080ti pc will do some good mining.
Yes, they make a profit. Not so much as an ASICs, but still ok. In general, now I recommend to buy ASIC instead of GPU
Vega probably the best right now in terms of profit/cost. 1080ti is fun to use and you don't need many for some big hashes.

Hi, I'm obviously new to mining.
I'm wondering if it decreases the life or damages equipment assuming I'm using a prebuilt pc with something along the lines of a gtx 1060 or 1070 video card.
Is it possible to use the computer for other tasks while mining? I assume not since all the energy would be going right towards the mining.
Also, how does mining work using one or more graphics cards in a rig but without a whole computer? Is it possible to mine using a rig with GPUS that's not attached to a computer some how? Again sorry if these are all dumb questions, I'm just new in need of assistance.
Unless you put too much power through it, or let it run too hot, you should be fine. With my 1080ti, I can do simple things like watch a movie, or browse the internet. The cards need to be attached, use 1x - 16x risers. Then in the .bat file you can specify which cards you want to mine on and which you don't.

you can use the multi-algo ports so that MPH can choose the most profitable coins for you - this was you dont have to check whattomine all the time. From there you can also select what coin you want to be paid with - using MPH auto-exchange feature.
I wish MPH had a better page where I could monitor my rigs if I'm mining different coins unless I'm just not seeing it. Been using MPH for a while, don't think this exists.

Last night after removing drivers, updating to the latest version, not having a screen boot with any cards, reinstalling windows, installing drivers again, turning on cards one by one, it appears the mobo now only wants to run with 5 cards and not 6. Was happily running 6 before the issue, and now appears the PCI-E 8x just wont identify the card as a GPU (shows an unknown vga device in device manager). Happens with any card I plug in that works in a different slot. Any ideas what could be causing this? Board is a gigabyte ga z87x d3h
