242  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] HUGE LOT OF COINS on: January 31, 2017, 07:54:43 PM
There is a secret reserve.

May a suggest to publish the sha256 sum of your secret reserve? In this way can everybody check after the auction is over that the reserved has not changed, thus making the auction more transparent. Remember to add a salt or keep the text format a secret:

example 1 (secret format):
2017.01.31 Killyouall acution...... the secret reserve is 100 BTC

hash: ac5a16ebca0e12650e65e68a657d158ad06913f06d924326c4b419c3785e5ac7

example 2 (adding a salt):
100 BTC e5672fa7291cd001

hash: 4d9e5c7fd42853c197a3dc654fa7ccfdec698d52dc3ffa7f3549312c0a196a51

All you have to do is calculate the sum of your string and publish it, at the end of the auction then all you have to do is to publish your string with the reserve price. If using the salt method then just include a reasonable long and random number to the string.
243  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] DECRED Limited Edition Collectible coins only 100 Minted "Gold Plat Coin" on: January 30, 2017, 01:24:13 PM
I have edited whit Coin Specification ... I think now all is clear ... sorry.

Didn't see any editing that you made.  Huh
You are misleading people when you say -
"Pure gold Decred coin plated in antique gold finish."
It's not pure gold coin in the first place, the coin is made of BRONZE & you just plated it with gold.
So what thickness of plating do you plan to put on top of that bronze, so at least we can calculate how much gold you are putting into that coin?

I have re-edited for plus clear thread and spec 24k gold are 2g of plating... I think now is clear and not misleading people.

Good reservation and thanks :-)

I am no expert in coin manufacturing, so please excuse me if I seam ignorant; 2 grams of gold, this seams like a large amount of gold for plating a coin. Standard silver coins with gold plating have gold content in the magnitude of mg. Is this coins made with some kind of very thick plating or is the 2 grams more like a guess for the gold content?
244  Economy / Collectibles / Re: CASASIUS SERIES 2 loaded with 1btc for sale on: January 26, 2017, 11:47:28 AM
To the OP, can you update the thread title to spell Casascius correctly?

Your thread is confusing because "Casasius" actually implies this may be the 2011 Series 1 error coin, however you've indicated that it is not the error coin because it is a Series 2.

Please read about it before posting question with the sole purpose to increase your post count.

It is on page 85 in Elias books. In another spam post do you refer to this book, so either are you too lazy to read the book and find the information your self, or you already know and just want to increase your post count to earn 1 cent. Looking at your history, time after time are you asking question you obviously either know the answer to or have no real interest in.

No, this is the first time of seen this coin Casascius. Is it designed in Greece, the name sound Greek to me

Oh man, you gotta look these up. They were made in the USA.

Forum member Elianite has put together the best collection of information on Casascius coins, you can find it here: https://coinfirm.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Casascius-eBook-Plus-2.pdf

You can also find them being auctioned in the Marketplace Collectibles board.
245  Economy / Collectibles / Re: How many Casascius owners out there? on: January 26, 2017, 11:35:56 AM
The question speaks for itself. I'd love to know how many people on the forum own a Casascius coin.

Feel free to talk specifics if you like.

Cheers and thanks!

Can you please take your signature spam somewhere else?
I doubt you have genuine interest in this.
Even if you had real interest, the data collected from this poll and "discussion" would be incomplete and very unreliable.

We would really appropriate if the collectible section remain serious and free from useless discussions with the sole purpose of increasing post count.
246  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] 1BTC Casascius Silver Round /w Gold B - GOLD HEART ERROR COIN - VERY RARE! on: January 23, 2017, 10:50:33 AM
Bitmarket.io, a few questions for you on this beautiful coin:
  • Are you the original owner? If not, who had the coin before you?
  • Is this coin featured in Elias' Encyclopedia of Physical Bitcoins?

Thanks!!

this isn't in the book - I believe cassascius denied all knowledge of the error..

OP - do you have the PGP chain for this ?

For what ever it is worth, I remember that Charlie contacted Mike about the gilt spill, here is the thread:

251  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Interest check] Would you be interested in XMR coins made by BTCC? on: January 14, 2017, 11:06:39 AM
The main issue with physical XMR, as I understand it, is that there is actually no way to verify that the coin is loaded without, or course, peeling and spending. More trusted sources selling these (I consider BTCC to be "trusted") the better. I'd already have Smoothie's 3 XMR coin set if I could afford the XMR to load them!

Also, one of BTCC's gimmicks is loading the bitcoins directly from a block reward to put "uncirculated" addresses. I imagine you can do the same with XMR. Would be pretty neat. I'd buy.

Strictly speaking, then is there no way to know if a physical BTC coin is really funded before the hologram is removed and the private key is known. The current physical coin system is based on trust.

Sure there is. There is a public address on the front of the coin that you can check the blockchain to see if it's there, and know when it's been spent. The XMR address on the coin isn't verifiable on the blockchain - you can't check the address to know if there are funds and can't know if it's been spent or not.

If you're suggesting that you don't know for certain if there really is a corresponding private key to the public key on the front of bitcoin coins, that may be true, but all it would take is one person trying to spend their coin and realizing they don't match, or that there is no private key, to realize that the creators are scammers.

The public address on the front of the coin is is no guarantee. There could have been a mistake in when pairing public and private key (this has been seen before), this is more likely for the printed public keys, the window based coins is more safe. One could also think of a scenario where only a fraction of the coins in the population are empty either due to scam or mistake (this has been seen before). The point is that you can never know with 100% certainty without having access to the private key. The system is based on trust, you have to trust the creator that the coin is truly funded. Yes, if the creator is trusted and have a long record of making perfectly loaded coins and many people have tried to redeem them long time after they where sold (like Casascius), then will the public key give a reasonable reliable information about the funding status ...but can never be 100% sure with the public key alone. Remember I said "strictly speaking".
252  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Raffleception] Win tickets to "The Raffle of All Raffles"! on: January 13, 2017, 07:56:58 PM
[So I came up with the idea of doing a raffle within a raffle - Raffleception!

Love the Inception reference  Grin

Totally agree. Cool concept Hhampuz Cheesy
Love it Smiley

Here is a few Raffleception statistical information's for transparency and lulz:
If you play one ticket in the Raffleception you will have 1/8 chance of winning a ticket to the big raffle.
If you play one ticket in the big raffle, you will have a 1/256 chance for winning the 1st prize.
This means that one ticket in the Raffleception gives you a 1/2048 chance of winning 1st prize in the big raffle.

However the big raffles feature prizes for the best losers so the overall odds of a gain is slightly higher.
There is 7 prizes, these are uncorrelated as the raffle master has stated that you can win multiple prizes,
This gives you a 7/2048 chance of winning one of the 7 prizes with a Raffleception ticket Cheesy

259  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Serious] How long does the paper in a casascius stay legible? on: January 07, 2017, 01:50:32 PM
I did not see anyone here mention receipt paper, because I have had several receipts' ink fade away to nothing in less than 2 years. I dunno what ink is used, but the paper is pretty thin.

How many coins do you have with receipt paper that was used in them?

thanks!

Yeah..... Huh

Pretty sure it was mentioned above, but receipt paper and the paper that is used by printers like the Piper Paper Wallet printer are different.

Yes, most retail receipts will fade quickly... more so, they really do not think you will keep them.
I always make a photocopy and save with original... not perfect but at least a copy for proof if needed more than 2-3 yrs down the road.

Most retail receipt are printed on thermal paper, the printer is an array of small heat emitters which the paper pass through, when thermal paper is subjected to heat then will it turn black. It is a commonly known that the print will not last much more than a year. Perfect for retail as it is cheap and reliable, and any warranty proff would be more or less gone after a year. Totally nogo for private keys.
260  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Serious] How long does the paper in a casascius stay legible? on: January 06, 2017, 08:51:42 PM
I have a couple of redeemed Casascius coins, complete with peeled holo + paper with private key.
I have inspected the private keys with a magnifier, no signs of deterioration or any other damage at this point.
