241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Up or Down, People Hodl on: April 18, 2020, 03:27:30 PM
By analyzing the Celsius smart contract, it is possible to see hodlers in action. Regardless of which direction the price moves, deposits have exceeded withdrawals.

Holding is not bad but at least you hold for long term with a proper strategy, not just holding and waiting for moon. For example, 30% of BTC in my portfolio is for long term holding while I trade the rest. I can't just be watching coins on my portfolio go up and down without making profit, since I'm a real time trader. However, I'm not castigating those who just hold for holding sake, we all must not have similar motives. If there are more holders, it's good for the overral market anyway.
242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MetaMask for Ethereum Crosses 1,000,000 User Milestone on: April 17, 2020, 09:43:46 PM
MataMast is one of the widely used extensions in the history of Apps. Reaching such a milestone is an achievement, but I do not think the team is seeing that as being a big deal. If they truly are, then I think three would have been more to it. Also, a lot of users I believe are not active, but that notwithstanding, they are widely used among Etereum lovers.

The security sense of MetaMast is another uniqueness I see about it and there has never been any issue about it.

Talking about the "security sense" as you mentioned, the major reason why I've been using metamask over time is principally because of this. Connecting to decentralized exchanges without actually using your private keys or keystore directly gives metamask users an edge. However, there are fake metamask extensions and a newbie might not be able to differentiate the fakes from the real one. A friend of mine lost 2 ETH after installing and using a fake metamask app on playstore, it was a sad omen but a lesson. I encourage crypto enthusiasts to use metamask especially for some third party transactions which require access to personal wallets or signing in to DEX. Crossing 1M user milestone sounds interesting, but like you wrote, not all users are active.
243  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does Libra still pose a threat to Bitcoin? on: April 17, 2020, 03:18:40 PM
Did Libra ever pose a threat to Bitcoin? In my opinion it never did. I've been following up on libra and the updates declined with time, the last update I saw was about numerous hindrances delaying libra's launch. To me, libra should expose more people to crypto and also fast track adoption, looking at the user base in view. However, since it's a stable coin, it doesn't pose any threat to the king (BTC). Looking at the present limitations, the real question now should be ; "will libra ever launch"?
244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will coronavirus encourage people to use crypto more thoroughly? on: April 16, 2020, 07:13:56 PM
Do you think that the recent situation will encourage people to use (or rely) on crypto more thoroughly? What are your thoughts? Huh

I used to think the Corona virus pandemic will help foster crypto adoption, but unfortunately the overral market cap for crypto saw a notable decline when this COVID19 pandemic led to lockdown in various nations. In the real sense, if bank notes are used less often (and in some places people do not accept bank notes due to the risk of Corona virus), more funds should be channeled to crypto market. Many still prefer online bank transfers in their daily life as an alternative to bank notes, and not crypto. If we crypto enthusiasts keep educating the populace about the benefits of using crypto for daily transactions, it will go a long way.
245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Trying to keep life savings more secured on: April 16, 2020, 01:16:39 PM
Basically I keep all my BTC and ETH on blockchain wallet, however I use trust wallet and atomic wallet for multi coins except there is a recommended wallet for a specific coin (usually for staking purpose). I don't know about the claims for coinomi vulnerability issues, it's been a while I used that but I had no issues with it. What I run far away from is new wallets claiming to give reward for storing coins in them. The big question is, how safe are the wallets we think are safe? We just have to be careful always.
246  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Why is Telegram associated with fraudsters on: April 15, 2020, 10:57:29 PM
Telegram is populated with so many scammers ofcourse, especially those private chatting you to invest in scam crypto projects (mostly HYIP) or fake groups pretending to be real projects especially during token sale. A friend of mine fell into the trap of scammers early this year, he was persuaded to invest in private sale of a scam project. Let's be guided, if it's too good to be true, then it's actually scam.
247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Browser extensions can steal bitcoin on: April 15, 2020, 10:35:25 PM
Browser extensions generally are not bad, but there are so many fakes. For instance, metamask extension has done more good than harm, but obviously when you install the right extension. However, for safety reasons it's good to be extremely sure before installing any browser extension. Added to this, third party keyboards are also a big issue, those developed to steal your crypto will steal your private keys or menomic phrase after copying to clipboard and send to the developer. It's old news to emphasize how essential security is important in crypto space.

249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: More Damages to Crypto Market on: March 12, 2020, 06:04:28 PM
If this Coronavirus of a thing continues like this then do not expect anything good from Bitcoin halving in May or after May because it seems Bitcoin will keep going down from now on, damn no one saw this coming either way, I never expected a new virus to change the fate of Bitcoin and crypto market this year, the very year I've been waiting for, so sad  Undecided
Well it's not only the Bitcoin market per say. The stock market is crashing and even more, economies are affected, many things not going right and there is financial crisis. Nobody expected this blow, many people got liquidated on leverage trading, so sad. This dump is epic and will be recorded in history I presume. However, I think before halving all these will subside, I just hope so because if not we might not see any bull run.
250  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What to do when price is dump?? on: March 12, 2020, 05:08:21 PM
The basic solution in times as this for traders is to Hold their/your capital in fiat or stable coin then wait patiently, then you get into the trade after there has been few more rekts or tokens has reached the bottom.

What do you think? Is it a smart move at this time?
Very nice suggestion here, and that is what I did today. I converted everything to USDT at around 7500$ because from the chart, the dump was imminent. I'll buy back when I think it's right, for now I'm still in USDT. I might decide to ride the leveraged tokens for max profit, but not with all my capital, just 10%. Knowing the right time to enter the market after converting to stable coin is important.
251  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto giveaway scams and how to spot them on: March 11, 2020, 07:41:39 PM
Most times greedy people fall for these cheap scams, also ignorance can contribute to this. For instance, before opening any link whatsoever, I ensure it's the legitl url and not just clicking random giveaway links. In the case of the coinbase giveaway scam shown by OP, it won't be so easy for someone new to crypto to easily spot, We just have to be careful. Sometimes I see scam giveaway replies to tweets by popular crypto influencers, and gullible people keep falling for it, example send 0.1ETH to get 1ETH. If it's so good to be true, then obviously it's scam.

252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Ethereum going back to under 200$? on: March 11, 2020, 04:01:33 PM
The price of Ethereum presently is swinging below and at $200 ,price was very high but presently the crypto market is down coupled with the effect of the Corona virus that as well affected the price of most altcoin. Well we hope to see price spike for Ethereum and other coins before the bitcoin halving
To a few people, the crypto market dump is an opportunity to get their favorite coins cheap, in this instance ETH and to many its an avenue to panic dump. Well, I already bought some ETH at 207$ and will buy more when it goes to say 175$. I know some will be saying the drift to POS coming soon is behind ETH dump but it's far from it, the whole market is obviously affected. Let's say a some days before halving, those who accumulated their favorite coins at dips should smile everything being equal.
253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is this Right Time to buy Some ALT coins? on: March 11, 2020, 03:06:08 PM
Nowadays is the worst time for the crypto and stock market but it is definitely the right time to buy more shares because of the dip. Everyone should enjoy the moment and buy depending on what can you afford. If only I have funds I'll probably dig in too!
Crypto and stock markets are down but some altcoins are making very awesome moves against all odds. Two of my positions being LEND and BAND gave me profound joy today, well the massive move for LEND was FA based (Partnership with Tether). Not withstanding, 70% of my funds are still in BTC, risk management is very important especially with this kind of market.

255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do not FOMO on newly listed altcoins on Binance on: February 21, 2020, 08:45:59 PM
This should not tbe attributed to Binance alone, newly listed coins have their moon time frame and dump there after. Mbl has been mooning for two days now, its normal if the price dips the token cannot moon forever there's room for correction.

If you actually took time to read through my brief write up, you should notice I mentioned "and other exchanges". Binance was used at the topic as a case study because that's where I principally trade, hence noticed the fast PnD for newly listed coins.
256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do not FOMO on newly listed altcoins on Binance on: February 21, 2020, 08:38:43 PM
Maybe this is one of the reasons prices dropped "All users that voted for MBL will receive an airdrop of 1,117.44329 MBL to their Binance accounts for each vote they cast. For example, if you had cast 10 votes for MBL, you will receive 11,174.4329 MBL in rewards." https://www.binance.com/en/support/articles/360039659832
They take advantage of the right opportunities will profit, and true what you say, for those who feel fomo will surely suffer losses.

The airdrop is partly the reason but not the major reason. I think holders take the listing news as an opportunity to dump. Worst part is that team members may use that avenue to quickly dump tokens at top price.
257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Do not FOMO on newly listed altcoins on Binance on: February 21, 2020, 05:55:02 PM
Recently there have been a craze and buy rush for any coin new listed on Binance but usually turns to a nightmare for those who FOMO too early. $MBL which was listed today because they won vote for community coin dumped from 59 sats to 30 sats within some minutes. This was the case with LTO too. My little advise to traders, (especially newbie traders) is to analyze properly before diving into buying a newly listed coin on Binance especially and other exchanges with such hype. Even if you must do, use tight SL and moreover there is no point chasing a moving train.
258  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: No good projects from a long time on: December 10, 2019, 09:45:20 PM
Though crypto space is full of so many fake project but that is not to say that we don't have good project at all. We have so many good project that we can choose from.
There are a few good projects but not "so many" like you mentioned  to be sincere. Most of these projects have already been abandoned by team members in the real sense after achieving their aim fund-wise, and that's why we don't see development progress for most projects after a while. Well, the good thing is that some projects are really giving hope to crypto enthusiasts, and we expect more genuine projects with dedicated team members to sprout with time, even with more improved blockchain architectures ameliorating the drawbacks of existing projects.
259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sources of income? on: December 10, 2019, 06:15:35 PM
You almost included all of those sources. Yet, I think you missed the part in which many in here is finding as good as it is in the forum. There are many people that are gambling. If you can see, many people are gambling to somewhat give additional to their income. Although some are pertaining it as entertainment it is still counted as income.

Actually, gambling was the first thing attracted me to join crypto, because I love betting in the crypto world especially NBA, but now, the website that I used to bet was no longer active, I made a lot of money during that time. Anyway, still on the other part wherein finding other ways to earn, trading is very difficult to me so I am just posting as well as investing and holding for long term.

I thought I was a pro in gambling until I lost about 3700$, then I learnt the hard way. Gambling to me shouldn't be among a major source of income, if one must gamble, it should be with proper risk management strategy (do not gamble with much funds even when you think you always win, there is always a doom day in gambling). I think OP already mentioned the major sources of earning in crypto ; mining, trading, holding, bounties and some airdrops. Initially faucets paid but not now, things have changed. Nowadays staking too looks profitable, but not to a great extent and it also depends on the quantity of coins used in staking.
260  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Good advice or bad advice? on: December 10, 2019, 01:35:19 PM
Let me be candid here, If you needed money for very important reasons and your crypto holdings are your last resort, it's not bad selling off. For instance you need money for a major operation or treatment of a life threatening health issue, and it means selling your crypto holdings to remedy the situation, it's human to sell unless you are deceiving yourself. If it's a minor issue that doesn't warrant you to sell off your holdings, then there is no point selling off everything. Holding is good yes, but wisely.
