241  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Powercolor AX6870X2 @ Newegg for $450 on: August 19, 2011, 11:16:00 PM
Found a the same card for 25 bucks cheaper at ncixus (http://www.ncixus.com/products/?sku=62694&vpn=AX6870X2%202GBD5-2DHG&manufacture=PowerColor&promoid=1365)

Not a great card but if your going for megahash per server this is almost in par with 6990's and 5970's and it beats them in megahash/$

not to put a damper on this party.. I'm just wondering why yall want to rent his farm for what pretty much amounts to the same predicted btc profit value?

the only thing I can see where you would come out ahead is on another difficulty drop and then you get what 4% on your investment?(and yeah  DavinciJ15 i know your on namecoin.. which just confuses me more Tongue)

If you are counting on rally then why not just buy the coins? You could have the coins today at todays price.

not trying to bust up your business adventure yochdog, I'm just trying to get into the heads of the buyers.

Shut up let them fight to the death! I want to see blood and then when one is down yochdog needs to give the thumbs down and let them be executed. Tongue
243  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Estimating heat output - 5850 on: August 19, 2011, 10:47:56 PM
A 5850 only uses about 150w.
Overclocked 5850's generate more than this Wink My rig is set up for 920/325 and its 5 cards. According to my kw reader its about 1kw so closer to 170w per card.
244  Economy / Gambling / Re: Xtreme HD5830 Sapphire raffle on: August 19, 2011, 06:15:39 PM
can multiple tickets be purchased by one person....really need another 5830 Smiley
If you buy the remaining 19 tickets, you're almost a lock to win!
But way over spending Tongue

I'm not interested but why is it that big of a deal to point the miners to the buyers choosing?
246  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Maximum gpus supported by windows? on: August 19, 2011, 04:14:09 PM
7 MSI GD70's, just going to run 5 on each, psu limited beyond that. I understand it's 8 gpu cores limited.
It's a good board I own two. Yea after you reach 5-6 cards your reaching the top end of psu's. If you add any more your going to need dual psu's.
247  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining at night only ? on: August 19, 2011, 03:33:51 PM
Depends on where you live and what your plan is. It can be cheaper but you will get a significantly lower amount of bitcoins. If you pay less then 10 cents a kwh no matter what time of day it is your better off mining 24/7. If you pay upwards of 20 cents a kwh it might be wise to only use it on the off peak hours.

In short it honestly depends on your situation.

I'm at work but I have a rig on win7 32 bit with 5 5850's. It gets around 1950 megahash.

That sounds right on the money, thank you for confirming. Guy with 3x6990's numbers had me questioning this. Now time to order up some risers got 7 pcie's waiting to be tapped Smiley
Just a heads up. Some motherboards have 6+ pcie slots but don't allow you to use them all. What board do you have? Also I'm pretty sure the limit is 8 gpu's not 8 physical graphics cards so you couldn't run 7 6990's on one mobo as they have dual gpu's.
249  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 5830 being raffled of by me on: August 19, 2011, 01:57:56 PM
bumping because I bought a ticket and want to actually have a chance to win this Tongue

I bought a ticket. I trust CanaryInTheMine and don't think he'd try to screw us.

I'm assuming its a typo 2600 makes a bit more sense then 1600. That's 433 per core.

254  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Possibly some more 5830's about to come out at newegg on: August 18, 2011, 10:47:31 PM
I think its been a month since I've seen a new 5830 at a store. They honestly might be gone.
255  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: HD 5830 BTC on: August 18, 2011, 07:00:51 PM
I was working on the basis of $130 new => take 30% off for used price => divide by 10 => 9 BTC.
So if you're saying the max you'd pay for a used one is $110 then I guess I wasn't far off.

Only problem is I'm in the UK and everything is slightly more expensive here. That said I found a new HD 5830 for 85GBP, so working on the same principle (30% off), a used unit would be around 60GBP.
Thats true normally but it's been over a month since I've seen a store sell a 5830 so they are becoming increasingly rare. I still think 130 is reasonable for a used one but being frugal I tend to wait for good deals. It's just all a matter of how long your willing to wait.
256  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Question about HD6870 price on: August 18, 2011, 06:58:00 PM
I saw offer 159.90EUR for ASUS HD6870 DIRECTCU PCI-E 1GB GDDR5. Is it reasonable to upgrade my 5770 (207 mhash) to this 6870? (Im using single card system so crossfires isnt any options in future with my current mobo)
I'd personally say it isn't worth it. What I would do is try to buy a used 5830 which will give you about the same hash power and ask if they are willing to ship internationally. If you can pick up a used 5830 for 110 usd (76.8 euros) it will most definitely cost less maybe even by a wide margin.

As a side question for you are all Europeans forced to pay like 20% then Americans? Is 20% even the expected price hike?
257  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: HD 5830 BTC on: August 18, 2011, 06:51:57 PM
I'd personally say if your paying more then 130 your getting ripped off. The highest I'd probably buy one used would be 110.
258  Economy / Services / Re: Anyone interested in 7 GH/s? on: August 18, 2011, 04:06:13 PM
No what I mean is people who rent it make a great deal of course I agree with that, but I don't understand why the seller don't use it instead of renting it.

It all comes down to guaranteed money or speculative money. Businesses do this all the time. Why do you think they give you a discount for a year of their service and the most expensive one is monthly? It's because since they are guaranteed to get that amount of money they are willing to throw in incentives (lower prices). When a user buys only one month the risk is that they will stop after the first month and the company will no longer get paid.

This applies to renting bitcoin servers because if for some reason bitcoins hits the fan they still have guaranteed money. While its not as profitable its much safer and a better way to guarantee long term profits.

@mike678,
