241  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: July 10, 2015, 05:13:46 PM
This is on the brink of becoming a farce of sorts. Over a week & a bit into July, whence we were promised details of pricing, and nothing but a deafening silence. In the meantime (coincidentally in the same first week & a bit of July), bitmain has upped the price of its flagship cash-cow twice to an eye-watering $399.

If ever there was a time for the SF100 to hit the shelves (is it actually real ..?) , it has to be now. Unless ofcourse it can not be priced competitively (in which case, just tell us!).

There's a bit of a filip in BTC price on, so ya'all looking to get some of these better be quick before bitmain put the price up!

I would be highly surprised if they raise it again.   There is just a point people will not buy, or kills sales.

I think they have reached their "happy place" on price with current BTC price and expect to see it sit around current.  Again all my guess could be wrong.

It was surprising when it rose from $320 to $340, then even more surprising when it rose from $340 to $360. But who'd have thought they'd raise it again from $360 to $378?
And don't forget, bitmain have no shame at all in changing (raising) the price several times in a matter of hours .... let alone any bigger timespan. So take to your confort zone of believing they are in the so called happy place on your own (and at your peril!).

I'm going to guess they don't.  Again I could be wrong.

We should get a good sense soon though.  We hit a decent percent up on BTC value.  And China will be working time in not long so I would guess we know early hour's of China time.

Don't want to gloat over this, but I told you so! Price is now $399

He's right, the S5 price very roughly tracks the exchange rate so it could be adjusted at any time.

Not that I needed to be affirmed by a fraudster, but yeah, re-stating what I said ..... not sure what threshholds bitmain use, but I shall not be surprised at all if price went up today (should the BTC rate continue to appreciate).

It has to be noted here that the latter two price rises were parallel to rises in BTC value of similar magnitude to the one being currently experienced.

246  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3500 TH] Kano CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: July 09, 2015, 11:57:19 AM
I've put an updated AntS3 update archive in my binaries git hub of latest 4.9.2 cgminer.
For details and installing: https://github.com/kanoi/cgminer-binaries/tree/master/AntS3

It's an update to the previous AntS3 release I did:

Code:
2015-Jul-7 Update cgminer-ants3-4.9.2-94e04f6-2.tgz
---------------------------------------------------
Update the cgminer init.d script to run ntpd a few times trying to set the date

Add more frequencies to the Web Advanced Settings tab
Warning, the higher frequencies marked with a warning can risk damage

Tested and running on my pool of course Smiley

Just had the opportunity to update to the latest release .... with regard to the API, it seems more tweaking has been done under the hood from the initial one ..... much better behaved! I'll also do a power reboot when I get physical access to the test rig over the weekend to confirm the uptime bug is fixed too. Looking good ....
You prob also need to update the thread title (again!) to 3.9TH ..... smelling roses all round I suppose.
247  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1800 TH] Kano CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: July 08, 2015, 11:08:02 PM
The one best reason for mining on PPLNS pools is its archille's for those that stay firm when the going gets tough, but generally, the less hash (for the duration of after the 500% nth of the hopper), the better and more earnings for those who stay, with the correct minimum amount of luck (which we are assured levels out in the medium to long term anyway!).
So I concur with the jomba who says earnings increase ...... my 2 natoshis!

You'll probably have to swap the PWM and tachometer terminals on the fan if it is not showing speeds on the second fan.

@ kano - is your relaynetworkclient working OK? Just want to make sure it's not just me  Tongue

Do tell .... experienced any issue that might be of interest to the wider community?
250  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1800 TH] Kano CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: July 06, 2015, 01:53:13 PM
Power reboot on the latest cgminer for S3 corrupts uptime reported, thus AVG too.
Hmm - if it's getting the time wrong send it a quit so it restarts at the current time.
I'll look into why - yeah I had one of mine do that but I was also testing changes and stuff so I didn't think too much about it.
I guess it's to do with ntp ... I probably need to add a few more seconds delay to it starting the first time.
Just in case it may help you track down the issue, my test rig sems to consistently return an uptime of 13 days +++ when power rebooted.
251  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: July 06, 2015, 12:51:51 PM
I was just getting ready to buy 50 S5's.  Thanks for raising your price AGAIN BitMain.

I don't think you are the only game in town.  Your new pricing is prompting me to look around.

I'll give you a tip my friend .... if you were looking to make your purchase using BTC and have bitcoins stashed away, sell them and make your purchase from bitmain using USD (assuming there is no surcharge for buying in USD).

50 units @ 1.438 = BTC 71.9
50 units @ USD 378 = 18,900

BTC 71.9 @ USD 274.16 = 19,712.10
So you get to keep over $800 (of course, you'll have the shipping et al to add; also depends on the actual rate you can get for your BTC)
252  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: July 06, 2015, 12:35:33 PM

Where? ..

bitmain went up because BTC went up but they did put a little warning on there site that will happen .

Fair enough, if BTC goes up, we are used to the raising prices, but why keep their BTC rate at the lower rate thus making the item even more expensive in BTC (than the nominal USD 18 price rise)?
At their retained lower rate,
Old price was: $360 / 262.8 = BTC 1.377
New price is: $378 / 262.8 = BTC 1.438

At current rate (google)
New price should be: $378 / 274.16 = BTC 1.378

Which, at least in BTC, brings it back up to the old price. Hedging against the movements in the dollar is all well and good, perfectly understandable too. Blatantly price gouging buyers using BTC is despicable.

He is right ! They always raise the price when the value of bitcoin goes up but when it drops they never lower it !!!!!!!!!!!

You got a point there, but you missed the elephant in the room if you intended to buy with bitcoin. They have held the rate of USD to BTC at an older (lower 1 BTC = USD 262.Cool rate despite the additional $18 increase; google currently states a price of 1BTC = 273 BTC . Truth be told, either way its a ripoff, but they are the ONLY game in town, so we'll have to grin and bear it.
255  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: July 05, 2015, 07:21:54 PM
The price for the 40 chips is un-canily similar to the one leaked here for the unit ...... so now the resale chip price is known ($29.98/chip for 40 chips), how accurate were the SF100 price estimates from our "experts" of industry?
256  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: July 05, 2015, 06:07:28 PM
Received new firmware from Bitmain- thank you. But to test it you need to put your miner into jeopardy and I'm not willing to burn up one of my miners right now. If Bitmain wants to ship me a beat up, old, dusty, used miner to test with I'd be more then happy to test it out completely in a home situation.
You raise a very interesting scenario...

Bitmain, if you are selling "brand new" units for $360, can you cut us a deal on your "old used" units for cheaper, provided they function to spec ? The dustier, the cheaper !

For testing purposes... of course...

Funny you mention "old used" units .... now they seem to have frozen the BTC to USD rate at $262.8 on their site (despite the fillip in the rate). What next, price rise from $360 for the "brand new" units ?
257  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S3 batch 6 overclocking on: July 05, 2015, 03:01:17 PM
All still OC'd - I have a few on freq 262 @ 0750 and another lot on freq 281.25 @ 0755 (those seem to be the sweet spots for my rigs).
What is the freq_value setting you're using for 281.25? Also, how did you find these values in the first place? This thread is the only place I managed to find the freq_values for these frequencies over 250.

Someone probably clever (or clever at copying) put them out somewhere, and I put a link to them in the OP somewhere.
Freq 281.25 has a timeout of 14 and  freq_value of 1606 (you can play with the voltage to suit your rig ....)

slush don't live here anymore ..... try the facebook page, they respond to comments there.
He sent an email a few days ago promising some good news soon .... still waiting on that.
259  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: July 04, 2015, 11:47:27 PM
Is Slush's pool safe from the problems that affected P2Pool and Antpool last night (where they were not validating incoming blocks correctly and forked onto an incorrect chain for 6 blocks)?

I assume that slush is more competent than these other pool operators, and that his team keeps on top of required updates.

But currently slush is not listed on the "safe" pool list, so I have to ask.
Slush is as safe as houses! They forked to v3 on and in time ..... you can confirm that by checking any of the blocks the pool has won lately (you do not need to be logged in to do that).

When was the last block? Any today? I don't see anything...
20 odd hrs ago ......

New S3 cgminer is a good to go .....
@Kano - yes some miner monitors only worked well with the bitmain forked API ..... but by any measure, its the only one that's been around for bitmain gear for forever, so not unexpected.
