Won't it depend what the S7 does and price . id like to see this at 450 to 600 to me even that price ( $650 - $800) is to high sense the Avalon4.1 still sells https://ehash.com/product/avalon4-module-1t/ for 1.95 btc + shipping.

i only want one or two of these . mostly for the Script part .

The S5 is kind of at EOL any way this is the last S5 Batch being sold now unless they decide to make a s5 + there wont be anymore S5 made after this batch sells out .and to move stack once the S5 + if there is one or S6 or S7 depends if they still like home miners which i hope they do the now S5 left in stock will be priced to move.

at this point we wait and see time will tell .

I very much hope and believe it will be the bottom end of my range (creeping to the middle with shipping).
Yep the S5 is literally EOL, but that they are still manufacturing them (and have a stack in their datacenters) gives it ample time to exist. I can not see the S7 being the same form-factor as the S5 with the S5 still on sale, and if the SF100 forces onto market (even heralds) the S7, then bitmain may have a dilema on their hands.
Ofcourse, bear in mind that home mining is a very small market for them, but that is where they'd be looking to offload their S5's to else literally give them away to a bulk buyer (aka wage a price war with sfards).

Could you find out what your network settings are? Most likely nothing to do with it ... still could be something there.

The Network is set to a free fixed IP but even dhcp is possible. Im 100% sure it has nothing to do with the network adress, because if I power up the miner without the "Better Ground-Contact" he is simply not booting

On a normal day, I'd never have even let the thought cross my mind, however, your scenario is so peculiar I can not rule that out. Unless ofcourse there is a delamination of grounding contacts on your S3 control board somewhere (that may explain the serial grounding it).
On that note, I have to say if you have not tried with the network set to DHCP, then since you have a means of reviving it, I'd try that too just to be sure. (but that's all I can offer I am afraid)
283  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: June 25, 2015, 05:44:51 PM
Since its a well established fact that home miners make a very minute market for most equipment manufacturers, the case being made for sfards pricing the SF100 for the home miner in relation bitmaintech's pricing is a non starter. That not only because sfards are a different kind of beast to bitmain (what with the dev kits, offering the chips etc), but more pertinent that if the SF100 is solid enough, even bitmain's much vaunted upcoming S7 won't affect the SF100's uptake, and that because it would require bitmain to undercut themselves on the S5 to the point of giving them away, even EOL'ing it.

I think this will be priced between $650 - $800

Yea you might have a bricked board. Check this out see if it works for you. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=889206.msg9902302#msg9902302

Not sure that is right ... looks like some kind of electrical issue. On the face of it, simply attaching to the serial port, to my mind, should not have an effect, but it clearly does here. So a stab in the dark would be that the serail connection establishes some kind of connection (electrical or otherwise) that spurts the rig to mining life.

I was about to ask what network settings you had, but I do not think that should matter in your instance. For completeness though, if you can access the S3 via the webUI, could you find out what the network settings are?
286  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: June 24, 2015, 08:41:25 PM

no it is not.  because growing network hash rate is pointless without price rising.

If I have 20 ph in s-5's = 10.4 megawatts

if I have 21ph in s-7's = say 7 megawatts.   I save 3.4 megawatts in power cost. network looks the same in diff. tiny limit to growth

The flaw in that argument is that the replaced gear is scrapped and not sold on (else it'd re-appear in network hash). In your example, why would bitmain toss away perfectly re-saleable S5's (they actually recently upped the price!)?
287  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: June 24, 2015, 10:43:23 AM
Got an e-mail from Sfards to go ahead with a group buy. However, I'd like Philipma to make a review - his reviews show a lot of the potential of the gear he's testing.

Btw: Funny typo in the Sfards-email: SP100 :-)

Great news .....! I've only been crossing my fingers for a few minutes, so I'll extrapolate that good omen on the pricing too.
288  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: June 24, 2015, 10:13:40 AM
Whether there will be reviews written or not, dependent on pricing (and bearing in mind the much vaunted S7 is on the horizon too), I'm still in for an EU group buy should one go ahead.

sfards "should be" a different kind of beast to bitmain, so though I do not expect to get the rig free, I have high hopes that they'll not price exhorbitantly, but I also know that being a dual mode miner, they are in a position (and rightly so) to charge a bit of a premium for that. Here's to crossing my fingers ....
289  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: June 24, 2015, 04:42:06 AM

I find it interesting that as soon as I mention reviewing this gear newbies turn up to attack me.

Why?

dogie alt accounts attacking you, simple! You should have learnt by now that if you try and do anything dogie does better than him on this forum, then you get that type of treatment. (just my 2 cents).

By the way, I am not sure sfards are looking to get review units out, whether there is a case for having them or not, seeing the do not intend to sell to small time miners to start with, aka word will get out in good time.
290  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: June 23, 2015, 11:35:04 PM
All depends on price. I could organize group for Europe people, let say 50 units for me, the rest for others.
But only in case of resonable price. I dont have good experience with previous Gridseed price policy (as G. blade for 3000USD, then soon 1500USD and no compensation etc....)

Looks like we could have some not in-considerable traction on an EU group buy then .... I'll keep my eyes peeled on their pricing (I intimated to them earlier today that I'd be interested in a bulk order but they have not got pricing set yet, was their response). Still a few unkbown unknowns though .... aka we don't even know what permutations of powering the SF100 (assuming it does not have a PSU) are possible, the weight (thus postage) etc thus the effect it'd have on the SF100's roi. But yeah, count me tentatively in too.
291  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: June 23, 2015, 06:18:56 PM
Group buy in EU would be good but I don't think it's gonna happen.Shipping and custom fees from America to Finland are much too high.

I am also in the EU but do not want to say a group buy to the EU is never going to happen, it just depends on whether there is interest from EU based home-miners in the gear and whether we can get an impecable and reputable individual to run the group buy. Saying that, it does (on the face of it) look like a long shot .... but why not!? Short of it, there is always the resale market .... fleabay and all.
292  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: June 23, 2015, 05:32:40 PM
They tell first batches are for bulk orders only.I'm afraid of that when it really is available for ordinary little miners,it is too late to buy any miner unless it's practically free. And it won't be that cheap. So after all the hype:disappointment.

For any serious home miner, initial bulk orders should not be an issue, at least not while subscribed to this forum as the simple answer to that (as has already been said) is group buys. Just that critical outstanding issue of pricing to see if even a group buy would be worthwhile then ....
293  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: June 23, 2015, 08:55:57 AM
breath of fresh air! Can't wait for the week to roll by and July to start.... email sent (fingers crossed on pricing)

295  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAMMER] Quickseller/ ACCTseller sold me a hacked account on: June 21, 2015, 08:27:47 PM
The most benign use of a sold account is getting into a signature campaign you're not qualified for. This defrauds the advertisers, since they end up with an unknowledgable scammer making as much posts as possible, rather than the knowledgeable veteran member they are paying for.

It's not defrauding anyone. They're paying for an advert in a signature and that's what they get.

Think about that again ..... They are paying for an advert in the signature of a person who's gained a good reputation on the forum, suposedly by possitively contributing to the forum.

In your opinion, which just so happens to suit your argument. They're paying for a Hero member account and that's what they're getting. If they wanted to make sure that the account was originally and always owned by that person they should ask for a signed message from a very old address first, but they probably don't care and the only person that seems to care about it is you.

And your opinion does not suit your argument? For cying out out, that is what opinions are! But that you supposedly set the rules on what amounts to be an OK trade (in accounts on the forum) makes you right is no-where near the right thing, and that is NOT just my opinion.

An account that has been bought will surely not be able to carry on in that vein, thus the advertiser has been shortchanged. Scam though and through!

..... Nothing has been stolen or swindled. ......

Apart from the advertiser's and the gullible user's trust.

.... but the irony is you're a scammer (tagged as such) hiding behind an account that has no other purpose than to troll now. I wonder how many times your account has changed hands or what other nefarious activities it has been involved in? Who knows?

Me tagged as a scammer, hiding behind an account?  Did I miss something here? Whatever you are smoking, ive up on it.
But like I mentioned before, you have no reason to attack my personality, not even on the back of my comments in this thread. But I know scammers in this forum stick together ..... so there.

And that is quite aside from whatever nefarious acts and / or omissions the account can be used for, and the most prevalent use of such being standing up for fellow scumbags when they get exposed. Honestly, it may be a known evil that scams do (and will continue to) happen, but for a member of staff (tagged as such) to come out and say buying a hero account for the purpose of joining a signature advertising campaign does not amout to a scam is pathetic.

  • Do you have any evidence that Quicksilver and ACCTseller are the same person?

These scam artists linger on this forum, tend to back each other up and always apply diversionary tactics!  The scam accusation clearly states Quickseller NO Quicksilver ...... Who'd have thought, dogie's number one wingman quite aside from trading in forum accounts (which is a scam of its own right), also scams his customers! You couldn't make it up if you tried.
298  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: June 09, 2015, 08:57:18 PM
yup seems a mass exodus from the pool. Odd

Block times are getting nailed everytime the PH drops a few. Crazy. About to pull out myself. Just cant handle less than 5-6 blocks a day or else i am burning more power than I am gaining in BTC.

I think this yoyoing is affecting our luck ...... but if we get some stability then our luck will return. 10Ph or abouts is not exactly small, though admitedly it's just over half our peak in the last month.
But at this rate, it makes even kano.is an attractive option seeing theyve been popping approx a block every 28hrs in the last week!
299  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: OFFICIAL CGMINER mining software thread for linux/win/osx/mips/arm/r-pi 4.9.1 on: June 04, 2015, 02:25:02 PM
W:127.0.0.1,192.168.1.60,192.168.1/24

The W: doesn't pass on to the others so they others are effectively R:

You need a W: on the front each one you want full access

e.g.

W:127.0.0.1,W:192.168.1.60,192.168.1/24

will also give 192.168.1.60 full access

Ahh! The detail of prepending the W on each IP / range evaded me ..... and that for ages! I had resorted to the insecure S5 default of W:0/0
Thanks for clarifying .....

EDIT: I've been palying with this today and had reverted to 4.9.1a to check .... and it seems to be working OK (even for non priv polling), so I'll have to strike out my earlier comment about 4.9.1a breaking the API (and blame it on the gremlins).
300  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: OFFICIAL CGMINER mining software thread for linux/win/osx/mips/arm/r-pi 4.9.1 on: June 04, 2015, 12:18:22 PM
Using priv commands is to do with the W/R options
To enable remote access priv commands you can allow the local subnet IP/24
e.g. W:192.168.0/24 (if your local subnet is 192.168.0.*)
Or give specific remote IPs access with W:RemoteIP

So for normal access it would look something like:
W:127.0.0.1,W:192.168.0/24,W:A.B.C.D

and thus priv access is given to the local cgminer-api on the miner, any computer in the 192.168.0.* subnet and the remote computer A.B.C.D

You should always have W:127.0.0.1
The others can be R: for read access instead of W: for write/priv access

And of course you can do a lot more than that Smiley
https://github.com/ckolivas/cgminer/blob/master/API-README

Just to clarify, the documentation referenced above sems to contain notation for latter filesystem layouts. For the S1, the config file "seems" to be /etc/config/cgminer, which (at least on my S1's) is not in JSON format.
Here's mine, though I still can not access the priv command remotely (note that I've tried with the specific IP, with just the network and both as below). Also, is it necessary to restart cgminer after editing the file?

Code:
root@antMinerS1:~# vi /etc/config/cgminer

config cgminer 'default'
        option chip_frequency '282'
        option miner_count '24'
        option api-listen 'true'
        option api_allow 'W:127.0.0.1,192.168.1.60,192.168.1/24'
        option more_options '--quiet --api-network'
        option target '60'
        option overheat '70'
        option pool2pw 'x'
        option pool1user 'my.worker3'
        option pool1pw 'x'
        option pool2user '1WQgqP7A2KuQ4WT4273JXZPUf29BAbxf6'
