241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is it risky to turn all my money to bitcoins? on: January 18, 2018, 02:42:54 PM
is it risky to turn all my money to bitcoins? anyhow this money sits in the bank and do nothing for!

Investing all mones in just one asset is always a risky thing.
There is always the chance that your expectations are not fulfilled and your money is gone.
My strategy is to spread the investment as good as possible. That will not bring you the most profit, but it ensures against totall loss.
And to avaoid losing money that is the most important thing at investments.
242  Economy / Economics / Re: Weak Hands lose money, strong hands makes profits in this game! on: January 18, 2018, 02:38:29 PM
I know this gets repeated over and over, but that's probably because new waves of newbies have to learn the same lesson. Still, Bitcoin as an investment is extremely volatile, and they likely have never experienced such swings before. It's quite hard to blame them, especially the ones who have never really invested in any market.

You're also not the only one who thought about buying the dip, because pretty much everything recovered from their funks, and Bitcoin is back at $11,000. I don't take this as an indication that the slide is over, though, and I still think there will be tough times ahead both in value and transaction fees. I plan to keep HODLing on though.

Those newbies really have to learn it the expensive way. LOL. We have been preaching over and over again not to dump during dips, actually its the perfect opportunity to make profits long term. However, when panic sets it, their decision is clouded and the only thing they would do is push that sell button. Just wait and you will see a lot of them shouting that they have made the wrong decision of dumping it during the crash. Bitcoin is back above $11,000 now and looks like the rally is picking up. Better keep on Hodling and see your investments grow overtime.

I suppose that many newbies who lost big are not even a member on bitcointalk.
It's imaginable many of them just bought because they got a tip from a distant friend who said bitcoin is a safe bet.
And at the point when realized the magnitude of the downtrend, they went out. Exactly at the lowest point.
Maybe some of the new guys here had better luck. Hopefully at least some read and followed the advices the experienced members gave.
243  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Can We Make Sure Bitcoin Never Ends? on: January 18, 2018, 02:27:48 PM
What every product on the market needs is publicity.
So what really everybody can do is talk about bitcoin. There is this old saying that even bad publicity is better than no publicity.
Bitcoin needs that people hear its story, so that more and more people participate.
And I think everybody of us has a story about bitcoin that can be told.
244  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should I buy BTC? on: January 18, 2018, 01:58:24 PM
Bitcoin can be ought with nearly any amount. Nobody needs to sell a hous or a car to get bitcoins.
Of course you need to keep in mind that there are fees, so an investment of only five dollars makest not very much sense in my eyes.
But I think it is a smart move to have a certain percentage of your whole investment assets stored in bitcoin.
Diversification is the key to a good investment strategy.
245  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is it too late, to invest? on: January 18, 2018, 01:50:04 PM
Some analysts say bitcoin will rise to 100K, other predict that it will become worthless soon.
It is up to us what groupe of analysts we believe more.
Me, I do not have the imagination that bitcoin will turn worthless.
There are so many people convinced of bitcoin, it will keep on the evolving track.
Of course that does not count for many others, especially the small currencies.
246  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto is an Asset or Currency? on: January 18, 2018, 01:45:14 PM
I think that there are crypto currencies that can be seen as an asset, and others that have the qualities of a currency.
Bitcoin with its high transaction fees, the longer confirmation times, the fact that it is limited and the massive increase in price, it has for me the characteristics of an asset.
Ether has low transaction fees and lower confirmation times. Although it gaind very much in price as well, to me it is more a currency.
247  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hold or Sell on: January 18, 2018, 01:39:33 PM
Selling is an option when you are in need of the money. Then the price u get for your coins often does not really matter.
If you decide to hold, you do not have to worry each time if it's a smart move to sell. That saves you a lot of trouble.
Selling and rebuying has the advantage that you can take every rise in price with you, but there is a big danger that you reach the exact opposite.
I'm a hodler, I have made my decision.
248  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm gonna sell my house on: January 18, 2018, 09:54:50 AM
What good will bitcoin do if you have no roof over your head?
I think the wise decision is always not to invest more than you can afford to lose.
Most people can not afford to lose a house.
249  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is going to $100,000 in 2018, says analyst on: January 18, 2018, 09:52:09 AM
There are so many predictions on bitcoin, half of the 'experts' say it will crash, the other half has draws some very high numbers.
I think it would not be so bad if we could stay for a while where we are right now.
Let the dust settle and take the route to a slow and steady growth where the whole community can participate, not only the traders.
250  Economy / Economics / Re: Bankers are killing the cryptocurrency market on: January 18, 2018, 08:26:31 AM
The market goes down because it was too hot before.
All those actually worthless new coins where many people put money in are now losing their artificially blown up value.
Bankers have nothing to do with that.
You can see that very good at the market capitalization.
Although bitcoin was increasing in price its percentage of market capitalization was declining.
251  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin bounce, the revenge of the vengeance. 5 digits again on: January 17, 2018, 05:32:35 PM
Calling this a found bottom is a little early in my eyes.
It takes a longer period of time than just two hours to determine whether we were at a low or not.
Looking at poloniex, I see bitcoin was sold under 10K again just a few seconds ago.
252  Economy / Economics / Re: why is it so hard to buy bitcoin on: January 17, 2018, 05:27:27 PM
I think in future it will become even harder to buy and sell bitcoin.
The governments want to participate at the earnings and get their share of taxes. Somehow I can understand that.
Besides, crypto currencies were used for some unhonest business models in the past. Verifications can help to reduce those sam attempts.
The more popular bitcoin becomes ther more regulated it will be.
253  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin holder's dilemma on: January 17, 2018, 05:23:18 PM
I think it all depends on the personal situation.
When the amount of money you can earn with selling all your bitcoins is enought to give you a decent rest of your life, there is nothing wrong about that.
That amount is depending on many factors, like your personla life style or the country you are living in.
But when the amount you get only brings you half the road, I would think twice about it.

254  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hold or sell it all ? on: January 17, 2018, 04:26:14 PM
I sold my 7 Bitcoins for $11400 a few hours ago.
I will buy back when Bitcoin reaches $8000.

Then I will have more Bitcoin than before.
This is the best solution.
I really hope that you sold your seven Bitcoins for 11400$ each!

Selling high and buying low, that is something many people have already had in mind. Some were successful, others bought back even higher and sold again much lower.
What sounds so easy in theory sometimes is not so easy to achieve in reality.
A hodler does not have that problem.
255  Economy / Economics / Re: Communist Chinese government popped the Cryptocurrency bubble in East Asia. on: January 17, 2018, 03:56:36 PM
I think op is referring to the rumor that China wants to close the mining farms.
To me, that would not be such a bad move at all.
I think bitcoin should be decentralized in every way. Mining farms should not be concentrated in one country or one continent.
The wider bitcoin is spread around the globe, the more untouchable it becomes.
256  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin ever be Mainstream? on: January 17, 2018, 03:51:35 PM
Maybe bitcoin has already crossed that line.
Every media I open online has already articles about bitcoin or crypto currencies.
And the good old tv news mention it more and more often as well.
I beliebve that a big part of the people in older generations, they have a negative attitude towads crypto currencies, no matter what.
But from the younger generations many of them are informed about bitcoin, some already have bitcoins.
In my opinion the step towards mainstream has alredy happened as good as it's possible.
257  Economy / Speculation / Re: Screw that, I'm hodling on: January 17, 2018, 03:42:56 PM
At this point, I do not think that forks, halvings or technical developements have to do something with price building.
It's pure psychology, mostly fear. And that is something that has to cool down. Otherwise your decisions are clouded and often lead to an unfortunate outcome.
Me, I'm a holder.
When I  know in advance that I do not sell, that saves me the decision making process and with it many troubles.
258  Economy / Economics / Re: France declares war on the cryptocurrencies on: January 17, 2018, 03:16:18 PM
I think there is a big difference between regulations and war.
I have always been a friend of some regulative measures because they make it more difficult for scammers to use bitcoin for their purposes.
And I think as well that regulations make crypto currencies more accepted in the public opinion.

Regulative measures can make the trust in crypto currencies stronger, and maybe even decline the big swings of the price.
259  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoint to $1,800 USD by end of 2018 on: January 17, 2018, 03:07:49 PM
I really do not think there is a way to tell at the moment in what direction we are heading.
One year ago, bitcoin was at about 1000$. Who would have thought that bitcoin would take the developement we have seen?
Unfortunatelly developements can go in two directions.
What keeps me optimistic is the fact that there are many hodlers out there. People who do not sell, no matter how far it goes down.
I suppose they provide one factor that keeps the price way above the number mentioned in the title.
260  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who is currently losing money on bitcoin? on: January 17, 2018, 02:44:37 PM
On the paper, right now most people who are dealing with crypto currencies are losing money in some way.
Personally I am a big fan of the hodl strategy.
There were so many ups and downs, after a while I got used to them. Even to big ones like we see them at the moment.
At my early days, I tried to get ahead of the wave by selling and rebuying. That brought me nothing but stress and it never worked out the way I expected it to do.
Now I'm a hodler, and I sleep well. Never underestimate how important a good sleep at night is!
