why do you even care about forks? Bitcoin have been forked since day 1. The only difference is that those people that are forking now, invest a huge amount of money in PR, and let you people think they are doing something good. Ignore the forks. It's just a piece of bull....

bitcoin should not be compared to gold. You can mine more gold every day. We probably haven't found 1% of all gold on earth, so gold is doomed to be a failure. Bitcoin, well, there are only 21 million coins ever... this meens the price will explode (up)

yes it can, and it will. The days of banks are numbered. However, what is more important is that the governments grasp on the peoples wealth is also going to dissapear, this is where the real war starts. since the medivel times, governments have always collected tax, and once they are unable to do so, we will see problems arise.

Price will go up of course. Supply and demand is what drives this just like anything else in this world. Make no mistake and think there is something backing it because there isn't!!

There is only one way to store bitcoin. That is cold storage. If you fail to do so you will be robbed eventually. I'm serious. There is just no way it can be safe online.
See my fix. They were online and got stolen. I urge you to get cold storage if you have more than 3 btc

They can try. But it will be centralised. So what is the point. The idea behind bitcoin is decentralisation. China making their own will just be RMB on blockchain. It has no store of value as they can make more.
So forget that idea. It will never be good.

Someone with a lot of money can do it. But why waste several trillion on that. In my mind it's not going to happen because of the uncertainty it brings and countries needs a lot more money for welfare. Populations will be mad if any leader uses money on that. Except perhaps North Korea haha
No no of course not sir. Price will still climb. Buy in now to gain a good steep climb. It will pay off in the end. Also look at alts they are low priced now imo.
I am all in at this moment.

dont mind it. It's a phase. jihan wu is trying to force bitchcoin cash onto the peoiple, but we know better. we know that bitcoin is the only real bitcoin, and he can take his forked altcoin, and stuff it.
also know that he has a lot of money, which is why his attack might seem successfull, but in the end he will loose.
just hype... nothing more, nothing less. The owners of the coin are hyping to make people buy it. LOts of naive chinese are buying in now. It's the stupidest thing ever.... they will loose money when jihan wu switches back to bitcoin again
nobody is against bitcoin, and in the end bitcoin will win this war, because the real people wants bitcoin, not some stupid fork. But the forkers have loads of money, so they can do these attacks. In the end they will crawl back to bitcoin though.
No. They have nothing to do with each other. Bitcoin is just the first "altcoin" there was. Also note that all coins can co-exist without each other.

To the OP. Care to explain how you got your account unlocked. I'm in the same situation. Been without my account for almost a week now.

Let it regulate by itself. Pretty much the best thing you can do in these times. Imagine in 200 years when we have colonized half the milky way, the places with scarce food will automatically be regulated. The same goes for now.

When should Gold investors start using their gold???
Bitcoin is the same thing, it's not meant for spending on items. It's a store of value.
I didn't lose any money because I haven't sold any coins. I invested in promising alt coins, and I plan to hold for many years.
DeepOnion is my suggestion. The price right now is ridicilous low. It's currently around 60-70 cents, fair value is 10-20 USD...
THe governments that wants to regulate bitcoin will loose in the long run. They are merely products of incompetent politicians, that can't see past their own nose tip. They really dont know how the world is spinning, which is why they think they can regulate all.
Japan has allready accepted bitcoin, which is why japan will be in the top 5 richest worlds in 20 years.

I have only been into crypto currencies for a few weeks so forgive me if my question is daft... If bitcoin is at such an early stage in terms of taking over even a small percentage of the world monetary system, and yet it is having to fork to resolve technical issues, is there not a more efficient crypto currency out there that wouldn't have these problems? For example, if vertcoin had to handle the same volume of transactions would it perform better? With over 1200 crypto currencies out there I don't understand why bitcoin still dominates. Surely there are technically far superior solutions out there. I know it was the first one but does this alone warrant it being the most popular?
Because the consensus is that bitcoin is the standard. Also bitcoin has proven that it's not a scam. It has the history on its side. And the people that invested in bitcoin (miners for instance) refuse to sell low, so the price will be high. Sure there are many coins out there with more potential, and better tech, but we have to agree on a common backend, and that is bitcoin.

The short answer is nobody. The long answer is someone with loads of money. This might also be the biggest risk in bitcoin. If the US government finds out it wants to destroy bitcoin, it can do it. It might cost them xxxx trillion dollars, but it's possible. The problem is that the population would perhaps rather have wellfare for those trillions instead of a destroyed bitcoin. So in reality nobodyu will destroy it
