2424  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Risk management , how ? on: February 01, 2020, 02:46:11 PM
As you can see OP from all answers above, risk management is a hard thing to explain and to be honest with you, all these answers are good and could be seen as a risk management for different, let's call it "earning strategies" - trading, investing in ICO, gold, etc.

Risk management - (in my opinion) word to describe actions taken against losses.

As you said OP,

successful trading is about managing risk... i have read that with correct risk management ... trading and be profitable...

you have read about it and now wonder, what that is and how to apply it to your trading to be profitable?

Already one member answered, that you shouldn't be doing this, which is: "read to much BS on the internet".

...The internet is full of paid media articles. Stop reading them and the reddit channels on crypto...Use your own research to develop your own charts and use them...observe how you progress...

This is really great advice because you can't apply risk management strategies from an article (written by a billion-dollar hedge fund manager) to your trading, this is something totally different, but as you can see, it has the same name.

The first and third answer, both good for every day trader (especially the third one),

1. Never be greedy
2. Set a specific goal/profit on a certain trade.
3. Dont chase losses
4. Set stop loss
5. Dont get fomo'ed or shilled out.
6. Dont be emotional.

OP, you can apply this to your trading to minimize risk and this would be good risk management, I hope this starts to slowly be clear?

If not, I will share what I personally do lately, to manage my risks in trading. I started to use, these new Binance pairs BULL, BEAR, ETHBULL & ETHBEAR when I try my luck with day trades or even swing trading. I try to hedge against (not so much) the risk itself, but the market volatility, especially, when on BTC and there could be FOMO in play (big news or event).

If you don't know what BULL, BEAR, ETHBULL & ETHBEAR is, here a short read: https://www.binance.com/en/support/articles/360038933471

As I already mentioned, when I am day trading and there is a big chance for the price of BTC to go up or down fast, I like to bet 15% on BULL or BEAR to hedge against the risks and market volatility, when I am gambling with more money than usual.

As you can see, everybody has to develop his own risk management strategy, which will be perfectly suited to what one is actually doing. I needed also a lot of time to understand it and be able to implement it to my trading and now I concentrate on how to maximize profits because everything is in our minds and if you will keep thinking about risk and losses, it could end up that way, despite best risk management strategy  Wink.
2425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] GOLD - First 100% Liquid Stablecoin Backed by Gold on: January 31, 2020, 05:32:57 PM
I think this is great news for the Digital Gold project that Tether wants to start with exactly the same concept which is tokenized gold.
Of course, it will be a really strong concurrent for the GOLD token, but taking into consideration the advertisement which Tether will make for tokenized gold, it can be useful also for the DIgital Gold project and the entire market niche.

For so many months we have been fighting to raise awareness about the Digital Gold project, and such an advertisement from Tether can be really helpful.
Remember, the most important thing is to spread the word about this opportunity because almost nobody knows about it and Tether can help to achieve this.

I see people say, that Tether will overtake this market completely from digital Gold because they are trusted, but I don't believe it.
There will be always a place for few players on the tokenized gold market, additionally, Tether has a very bad reputation and many court cases ongoing about fraudulent actions and BTC price manipulations, so I will refrain from such statements that Tether is trusted  Wink.

2426  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Many Bitcoin Forks Are There? You will be surprised!!! on: January 31, 2020, 04:33:06 PM
...BSV...

OK, enough is enough!!!

I haven't said anything until now, but this has to stop because this thread is not created to shill BSV altcoin.

Additionally, I have already explained:

...I haven't mentioned BSV in my article and I did it on purpose ... BSV is a hard fork of BCH, not BTC!!!...

...people think that BCH and BSV are the most known BTC hard forks - this is not true and BSV is a hard fork of BCH.

This is the only explanation that is needed about BSV in this thread and I hope that this debate will stop.

From now, I will report all (shilling) posts about BSV to moderators (as off-topic), so please stop hijacking my thread.
2427  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][INV] iBitt - CRYPTO EXCHANGE, ATMs & MONEY Transfer 🌎...! on: January 31, 2020, 11:33:33 AM
...The reason i think why inv has no buyers is the lack of promotion...

Nobody knows for sure why there is no liquidity for the INV token on exchanges.

In my opinion, this is because INV token has not much use cases, as for now I know only about the rebate program on Ibitt exchange were trader can get 10% back if trader more as 1000$ in volume.

If the INV token will be finally integrated into all Investa products, this should make the situation a lot better and maybe start an organical demand.

...telegram is now free advertising group they allow other people to promote a project that it should be for inv only...

This is not true, nobody promotes anything besides Investa in the main Telegram group and even if sometimes scammers post about different projects, they are banned and posts are removed by mods.

Of course, sometimes it takes an hour or a day, but I haven't seen any advertisements lately, as you are implying.

Please, show an example as proof of your words?

This sounds very interesting...I'll take a closer look at the whitepaper and drop a more detailed write-up on my thoughts...

I happy you like it, I will wait to discuss with you further the Invista project. It is really worth to take a closer look.

My advice, read this thread fully (is not so long  Wink) and you will have full insights into what was happening until now.
2428  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Many Bitcoin Forks Are There? You will be surprised!!! on: January 31, 2020, 09:35:47 AM
snip

Thank you very much for your suggestion and provided information, but I will let the opening post as it actually is because this is not so important for the thread, how much of them are still listed or will be in the future on Coinmarketcap. That changes constantly and can't be relevant for too long. Additionally, the main goals are achieved to share the info and raise awareness about all these copycats.

...these coins should be referred to as bitcoin copies instead of bitcoin forks...term fork should only be used when the same project is being upgraded with a new rule or has a rule removed.
so for example bcash is not a bitcoin fork, it is a bitcoin copy.

Of course, I agree with you and that is why I have never mentioned any details about these copycats.

The purpose of this thread was to show: How Many Bitcoin Forks Are There? of course hard and soft once.

Again, I updated the opening post and added your comment as an additional explanation.

...although the explanation is technically correct but it is a terrible one because it is misleading...

In my opinion, is not misleading, as I explained above, of course, you are free to judge by yourself.
2429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Let's talk about backed (and not) Stablecoins - GOLD token 100% backed by gold. on: January 31, 2020, 12:04:25 AM
I love the concept of Digital Gold...they said they have equivalent Gold in the vault in relation to the amount of token issued... I just hope this stands true for all time.
This question was already answered multiple times in this thread, so it is enough to read and we have only two pages as for now  Wink.

Anyways, I will quote my answer one more time, to make it easier for you.

...Digital Gold use https://www.bullionstar.com vaults to store the physical gold which is pegged to the GOLD token.

Quote
Each GOLD token is 100% backed by physical gold stored in a secure vault. Amounts of physical gold stored can be verified at any time. The Digital Gold Marketplace guarantees GOLD token's liquidity. An unlimited amount of GOLD can be purchased/redeemed on the Digital Gold Marketplace website instantly 24/7...

Remember to read threads before commenting (especially short once) because normally I put on IGNORE such members who comment like this.

I hope you understand, such comments are annoying for the thread author and show that you haven't read the thread at all because this question was also answered in the opening post.

There is such a good unspoken rule, we read the whole short threads and long once (depending on the length) at least a few first and last pages always.

To be able to take an important part in the discussion, and not to duplicate previously asked and answered questions. I hope you will take this advice seriously.

...Clams is there right?...

Indeed, I couldn't delete it and that is why I haven't mentioned Clams, only the other two linked altcoins in my previous answer.

Additionally, I wasn't able to find a reliable source of information with all BTC forks until today, so we can assume these numbers still as an estimate.

To be honest, these websites provide the best information on this subject and the main goal was to show: how many BTC forks are there?.

So, if this is 100 or 110 is not so important anymore in my opinion because these numbers are changing constantly and different sources provide different amounts.

I have a lot of experience and always new about a few BTC (hard and soft) forks, which ended with new altcoins, but when I find out that there are so many, I was just overwhelmed and thought it is worth to share.
2431  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Many Bitcoin Forks Are There? You will be surprised!!! on: January 30, 2020, 09:30:51 PM
...impressive but it's not really accurate, clicked a few of them and found out this:
https://forkdrop.io/xenon This is not a bitcoin and it's not a fork...
https://forkdrop.io/semux Those are not forks, just silly airdrops, just Clam clones, nothing more...

I agree with you and that is why you will not find them in my opening post, so I don't understand why you mentioned them?

They are not on the screen (or maybe I am blind  Cool), additionally underneath the screen, I have added a full list with known BTC forks.

...1. BitcoinX (BCX), 2. ABitcoin (ABTC), 3. Bitcoin Hot (BTH), 4. Super Bitcoin (SBTC), 5. Bitcoin Platinum (BTP), 6. Bitcoin Oil (OBTC), 7. Bitcoin World (BTW), 8. Bitcoin Stake (BTCS), 9. Bitcoin Faith (BTF), 10 Lightning Bitcoin (LBTC, 11 Bitcoin Cash Plus (BCP), 12 Bitcoin Silver (BTCS), 13. Bitcoin Uranium (BUM), 14. Bitcoin Top (BTT), 15. Bitcoin Pizza (BPA), 16. Why is Segwit in the first picture? It didn't create a chain split, it was a protocol upgrade for Bitcoin.
Yeah, I had the same feeling. Not really a coin, it didn't produce a second chain.

If you will read the thread, then you will notice, that this was already mentioned and answered a couple of times, to be correct, I have changed the opening post already.

Why is Segwit in the first picture? It didn't create a chain split, it was a protocol upgrade for Bitcoin...
That was already mentioned and as you can see we are talking about Bitcoin Forks (hard and soft) to not confuse people too much.

Not from every fork, there was a new altcoin born and that is why I am talking about forks, which means both possibilities.

I already edited my opening post accordingly.

OP, this is an awesome summary and I sure as hell wasn't aware that there were this many forks...

Thanks for kind words, I am happy you liked  Cheesy.

I wasn't aware either that there were/are so many forks and thought that it would be great info to share because if I wasn't aware of this, then for sure majority of people don't know about this.

You are the best confirmation of this theory  Wink.
2432  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Many Bitcoin Forks Are There? You will be surprised!!! on: January 30, 2020, 06:33:01 PM
...I made a review about Bitcion SV and Bitcoin Cash and i thought those were the only forked coins of bitcoin not knowing the exist numerous of them...

As you can see, I haven't mentioned BSV in my article and I did it on purpose because BSV is a hard fork of BCH, not BTC!!!

As you already know, Bitcoin Cash (BCH) started as a response to the Bitcoin scaling problem and in November 2018, forked again because there was still an ideological debate in the BCH community about the scalability and final size of the block (was actually 32 MB), which led to the creation of Bitcoin Cash SV (BSV), with the block size of 128 MB.

Many people think that BCH and BSV are the most known BTC hard forks, but this is not true and BSV is a hard fork of BCH.

Bitcoin XT, Unlimited, Classic & SegWit...should be categorized as planned hard fork/network upgrade.
...will do my best to adjust all info in the opening post, but I will wait for more comments... there are links provided (overall) to sources and all of them describe these once mentioned by you, as hard forks...provide any other sources, with different/counter information and conclusions...Already removed the word "hard" in a couple of sentences to adjust accordingly...now is only "fork" which can mean soft or hard.

BSV is the only relevant chain, cause it is the refactored original protocol that is the legal and stable true BitCoin...

I hope you're kidding, and if not, it's a total BS.
2433  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Many Bitcoin Forks Are There? You will be surprised!!! on: January 30, 2020, 12:31:20 PM
Bitcoin XT, Unlimited, Classic & SegWit...should be categorized as planned hard fork/network upgrade.

Of course, I believe you and will do my best to adjust all info in the opening post, but I will wait for more comments because I knew there will be a lot of discussion around this subject and of course a lot of different points of view or information.

As you can see, there are links provided (overall) to sources and all of them describe these once mentioned by you, as hard forks. I had no reason not to believe several sources, that give the same information, so if you can provide any other sources, with different/counter information and conclusions, I would be grateful.

PS
Already removed the word "hard" in a couple of sentences to adjust accordingly to provided information. So, now is only "fork" which can mean soft or hard.

Now OP i have a task for you. Tell us an easy way to claim all that shit...

This is not the purpose of this thread, but it is enough to search in Google for a query: "how to claim BTC forks?" and you will get multiple tutorials.

Of course, only a few of these forks are still worth something and a decent website with guides/explanations is here: https://99bitcoins.com/bitcoin-forks/

Always check everything three times and remember that claiming Bitcoins from an old wallet can be a real threat to your security.

Quote
It’s necessary to export the private keys from your old wallet using a special format. In most cases, a file will be generated that contains all your addresses and their respective private keys. Certain wallets, won’t allow you to export the private keys. In such cases, it’s necessary to enter your hardware wallet’s seed phrase into a tool (such as Ian Coleman’s BIP39 Tool), which should be run offline. Another option is to import your seed into a compatible HD wallet, such as Electrum.

2434  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Many Bitcoin Forks Are There? You will be surprised!!! on: January 30, 2020, 11:33:50 AM
...it seems like there was almost a bit of spam... Bitcoin oil, ore, coal, metal, pizza. I'd guess a few of these are the same creator.
...just by the name itself sound like a scam...

I understand these concerns but I think they are irrelevant for this thread.

We all know that 99% of these forks if not all of them are worth nothing and bring nothing new to the crypto space.

The main reason for this thread is to show: How many BTC forks are there? and make it as best and detailed as possible.

PS
As I already mentioned in the opening post, I wasn't able to find a full (chronological) list of BTC hard forks from the creation until today.

There are many lists but the newest one is only until the 1st quarter of 2019.

If anybody will be able to find such a list, please share in the comments and I will be very happy to adjust my opening post with all additional information.
2435  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How Many Bitcoin Forks Are There? You will be surprised!!! on: January 30, 2020, 11:11:31 AM
I'll start by explaining what hard fork is for less experienced members.

Quote
Hard fork (or hardfork) - relates to blockchain technology, is a radical change to the network's protocol that makes previously invalid blocks (digital pieces of information) and transactions valid, or vice-versa. A hard fork requires all nodes or users to upgrade to the latest version of the protocol software.
https://www.investopedia.com/terms/h/hard-fork.asp

For a long time, there was discussion in the community about the Bitcoin scaling problem because of 1-megabyte block size, which led to longer transaction times and an increase in fees/commissions.

The first hard fork took place at block #478559 on 1 August 2017, which transformed into a Bitcoin Cash (BCH), that offers larger blocks (up to 8 megabytes at the start).

Of course, to be honest with everybody and myself, I have to add that the BTC scaling problem is today not so important or even can be considered as resolved because we have the Lightning Network, where BTC transactions are practically instant and very cheap.

I already mentioned the most known BTC hard fork BCH and think that many of you know about another one, which is Bitcoin Gold (BTG).

So, let's dig in the true history of BTC forks (hard, soft) and summarise everything chronologically:

https://www.howtotoken.com/explained/bitcoin-forks-chronology-ultimate-list-forks/

As we can see there were already three soft forks (no new coin created) before BCH (XT, Unlimited, Classic) and Segwit fork before the Bitcoin Gold.

For sure all of you now wonder: How Many Bitcoin Forks Are There? and how many new altcoins were created?

There are 105 Bitcoin forks (hard and soft) in total. Of those, 74 are considered active projects, the remaining 31 are considered historic and are no longer relevant.

https://www.forks.net/list/Bitcoin//1/2017-01-01/2020-01-01

1. BitcoinX (BCX), 2. ABitcoin (ABTC), 3. Bitcoin Hot (BTH), 4. Super Bitcoin (SBTC), 5. Bitcoin Platinum (BTP), 6. Bitcoin Oil (OBTC), 7. Bitcoin World (BTW), 8. Bitcoin Stake (BTCS), 9. 45 straightforward blockchain hard forks directly or indirectly originating from the Bitcoin main chain:

https://forkdrop.io/how-many-bitcoin-forks-are-there

To be continued because this is only until 2019. I wasn't able to find a full chronological list of BTC forks from start until today, so we can assume that the list is even bigger  Shocked.

PS
There is a discussion ongoing about hard forks, soft forks, and pure copycats. Many members stated that only a couple of these coins should be considered as real coins and the majority is nothing more as worthless copycats which add nothing new at all. Of course, I fully agree with all these statements, but the purpose of this thread was to show: How Many Bitcoin Forks Are There? of course hard and soft once and I didn't provide any details about these coins on purpose.

2436  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ethical Standards: Rich People & Large Companies Donating to Political Parties on: January 29, 2020, 04:42:04 PM
Aside from whether it is ethical or not for rich people and various companies to donate to political parties, I think that the best solution for this problem would be a top-down instance that would receive subsidies from these entities. It should be not possible to donate directly to given parties, but to submit a donation to such a neutral environment, which later would be fairly distributed between starting and qualifying parties.

This would obviously cut off the possibility of influencing the parties through donations, and finally, give equal chances to all participating parties, so that they could have funds of similar size for campaigns. Of course, donations in any other form would have to be prohibited, just like lobbying.

2437  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Shifting party coalitions on: January 29, 2020, 01:08:58 PM
... parties don't really believe in anything at their core, and they change over time, even if you might be able to briefly describe some sort of overall philosophy right now. In reality, each party is just trying to form minimal coalitions between different philosophical/interest groups such that they can win a majority in the election...

It fits also well with multi-party European systems.

Conclusion of various (very abstract) coalitions only to obtain the majority or the minimum necessary. Ideological changes before (and after) the election, everything for the needs of the party, to have a chance and to fit well in the current electoral profile.

In my opinion, you are absolutely right, I am not familiar with the policy of the United States but what you wrote also suits me like a glove to European countries.

Let's take:
...shifts in ... traditional coalition structure:
- Most notably, the political power of unions and labor in general have been substantially weakened. Union membership is at an all-time low...
- Whereas rich people previously tended to support low taxes and nationalism, "the 1%" is increasingly adopting a mindset which is basically globalism/neoliberalism (which includes anti-
nationalism) combined with a profound lack of faith in capitalism....
- companies like Facebook have so much influence.
- Religiosity is at an all-time low...

Same in Europe, everything matches exactly: labor weakened, union members at an all-time low, reach people changing mindsets, Facebook involved in elections (Turkey, UK and EU countries), religiosity at an all-time low.

In my opinion, soon, the effects of "rainbow coalitions" will be seen in the UK, where on the wave of Brexit, they won the election, not to mention the involvement of Facebook and Cambridge Analytica, which should be much more worrying than anything else because suddenly social media platform is enough to manipulate undecided voters to change the outcome of elections.

Let's look at what will happen in UK after Brexit and what next elections will bring there?

PS
Great read!!!

Tutaj dniowy wykres BTC.

..."at least jackpot in the national lottery"...
...I would stop if I won jackpot in the National Lottery. I mean if that was the condition of me winning...

To be honest, that was not what I had in my mind when I have written this sentence, at least not a condition of a win.

Many times, I hear from gamblers: "If I win really big, I will never gamble again".

So, maybe not a condition of a win, but a self-thought condition, which many (especially addicted) gamblers have (mostly as an excuse) to finally stop with gambling.

...since gambling to me, is, fist of all, a relaxation from the hard work, without that work I think I could live without gambling.

I like this statement because you are not saying "for sure" only "I think" and this is a huge difference in my opinion because one can never know if is not already addicted when already gamble for a longer period of time and additionally there is nothing sure in gambling and to stop with it can be not easy, as we sometimes think it would be.

I hope it's okay to post other people's records here...

What a coincidence, I just have written post in this thread, but my internet connection broke and almost one hour I couldn't find what is going on.

Luckily, I have saved a draft and now wanted to post it  Cheesy.

Of course, I don't mind that you published it and here is my saved draft:

I am happy to share another great number which is 1111

Slowly this thread becomes, such one of a kind "personal wall of achievements", especially if somebody posted already a couple of times here.

I became nervous lately when such a big number is near because am afraid that I will be not able to catch it on time, only to post it here later on  Wink.
