"the geeks have no idea what they invented".
In which way? in the sense that geeks can read the code, understand that there is something there, but fail to comprehend the economic implications of what has been created. Nah, I think Satoshi knew exactly what he was creating. You don't just come up with a new form of currency unless you are really into monetary theory.

Really, this isn't good. The coming crash is going to be really bad. But, I guess that's how this thing is gonna go for a looooong time. 2 steps forward, 1.9 steps back.
as the years go by.... Man, this is really your night cypher, bitcoin flying and aapl crashing !

whuppa ! Interesting night indeed

I wouldn't be surprised if the non-negative commentary on bitcoin in zerohedge a month or so ago attracted some bigger whales.

Hmmm....I wonder is the incentive to buy at 18.It seems so far the buys are playing it safe and there hasn't been much of a rally for 24 hours.Usually it has been between +.75-1.00 over the last few days everyday.
Can't have a dollar gained daily forever ... Honestly, some consolidation would be more than healthy atm. If this tempo keeps up for a few more days, I am definitely selling part of my stack.

Tonight's going to be interesting.
I just hope that's not code for: I am going to dump all my shit on the market... (don't get me wrong, I would generally love a good buying opportunity, but no gox funds available atm) And thanks to whoever sent me 0.1337 BTC.
There you have it again, the rich only get richer ... tsss

great news! Websites like this and bitcoinstore is what I like to see (and Wordpress obviously). I even prefer them when they just have bitcoin as one of the options, that way "normal" people see bitcoin is a real alternative.

Congrats on reaching this threshold! And thank you for keeping us updated. It helps to form an image of the bitcoin economy (I have to say I had thought that the number of transactions would be bigger with 2000 merchants --> still, I am guessing the growth rate is and will be good for a long time to come).

Bears picking up steam while bull naps. It's been a long day. I think you drew the train heading the wrong way Thanks once more for one of these Chalkbot. It hasn't 'got me' in the same way as the last one you did but love it all the same. Looking forward to buying the book of them in due course: 'The rise of the Bitcoin price to $1000 in wall-chart doodles' Last one was funny, this one was just nice.

On a side note, that is a nicely done doodle!
It is, isn't it! Dude has skills.

You talking about when pirate's ponzi crashed?
btc at 32USd was less overbought that is now Because anybody can see that 0.3 --> 32 is a smaller increase than 5-->17 , right?

lol, looks like the roughly 15k bitcoins stacked up around $20 have been moved to $99.xx. That guy is a little too optimistic, don't you think? It takes a pretty wild imagination to expect anyone paying nearly $1.5m for 15kBTCs, even in the next 5 years.
I'm guessing it's someone hoping for a huge freak spike. Or he doesn't want to scare the bulls prior to dump... who knows these things?

Dang, looking at these walls, 20$ doesn't seem so far away.

Oh, does it work with 1-day cut-offs? I did not know that (if so, which geographical location is used to determine this?). No, I bet today, but prior to the 15.38 being breached.
Here are some answers for you If the statement turns out to be true or false before the deadline, bet deadline is changed to the end of previous day and bets are closed. Eastern Time tx for the answers, I should read more attentively next time

Care to elaborate or point me to a post/thread where you or someone else has done this?
Some other time on a more appropriate thead and board. And after I've brushed up on some tech and spent more effort understanding more precisely the current state of things. Current magnitude of some of the numbers, and studied some recent growth charts some more. Thx for your patience. I would be interested in reading this when you get to it. A pm with link to thread at that point in time would be great.

Should we be buying or selling now?
Yes. Or no. Depends. Maybe. just do it. Unless... ...you...

|

I saw it under "Last price" at the gox.It looks like it will be going higher today hopefully.
"Last price" is influenced by bitcoin markets in other currencies.

Do newbies need a quick start?
No, they don't. Newbies don't need a quick start unless they're interested in selling or buying drugs or something. These are urgent needs that demand an anonymous payment. Can you tell me why they should replace dollars and credit cards with bitcoin at this stage taking safety, conveniences and transaction fees into consideration?
Do newbies need a quick start? Yes, yes they do. So they don't need to spend hours looking for good information, reading the stuff they already know over and over again. Also, this way they can feel that they know enough to get started. As for the drugs stuff: I am not here to buy drugs. I am here to invest/speculate in what could become a mayor currency and store of value in the future. And (with the exception of the syncing/scalability issue) I find, once you are set up, using bitcoins is extremely easy and fun. Future convenience and safety will only improve as the bitcoin-economy matures.
