Great conversation. Some people say the only certainties in life are death and taxes, however i disagree about taxes. We are forced to pay them but doesn't mean it is certain.Revolution is possible.
I disagree about death. Revolution is possible ( http://sens.org/ ).

I kinda feel like this is a key moment in the market. We might break and retest the lows, or just blast higher.
He says as the tumble weed blows past the empty saloon. and where oh where have all the wall watchers gone, plays in the background. Yeah, this place has gone quiet.

weren't we mining at an accelerated pace the last few months perhaps this is the result of that? or perhaps there is some missing data for about a week or so. otherwise the chart looks good to me Lol at chart Blockchained.com says 11.71 M BTC mined, which I think is accurate.

If no one believe that the dollar has any value, then it will not be accepted anywhere and lose all of its value overnight.
If it was merely based on belief the US (and other nation states) would have probably already collapsed entirely. It is force and violence that gives fiat money its perceived value. It does not matter what you believe as long as the government is able to force people to use it to pay them off or threaten them with violence if they don't accept dollars for settlements. I don't think that's true. Otherwise, hyperinflation wouldn't happen.

It's simple. Less than 0.1% of people know enough about Bitcoin to believe with high confidence that there is a 20% chance it will reach that price in ten years, let alone people with the capacity to risk substantial capital and the patience and time to set up a secure wallet and jump through exchange hoops. Heck, even on this forum few people are truly confident of this, if they believe it at all.
It takes an awful lot of knowledge, understanding, dedication, research, patience, thinking, vision, and even daringness regarding possible legal risks to fill the above prerequisites. On top of all that, most of the people who understand economics (Austrian economics, of course) well enough to get why Bitcoin will change the world are convinced by that same economics they learned that "Bitcoin cannot be money." Moreover, Bitcoin sounds really cheesy/scammy when people first hear about it, and it relies on many counterintuitive, "obviously impossible" facts, like how a private key can be used to sign a transaction without revealing the key when broadcasting it.
Big thumbs up for this post !

little bug? --> "Renew Loan" on an outstanding loan requires 2 attempts at the moment, first it says 'blablabla will not be renewed', then the second time it works.
Autorenew from the initiation of the loan might be somewhat buggy too, but I am not 100% sure of that.

When appropriate, I think raising awareness and showing people an alternative (with the reasons why bitcoin is a good alternative) is a very good idea. The way you are phrasing this sounds somewhat like a cheap "pump and dump" though.
I guess I would not want a cheap "pump and dump" for the long term success of Bitcoin, but if past behavior predicts future behavior, we are still in for a bumpy ride regardless of what we want, or what is best so I just am trying to have some realistic expectations here. I totally agree, we'll be in for a lot of volatility for a long time, and raised awareness goes hand in hand with higher prices. I am just saying that I would prefer the motivation of the posts to be mainly for informing people of an alternative money system, and not to quickly get the prices higher.

The Bitcoin police here in Heidelberg was asking me yesterday if i hid any euros or altcoins. As an ordinary citizen i denied this.
Wow how could a police possibly ask that? And what is it for him or the state? Isn't it that the taxation not direct and only when you do buying, selling, service and real estate? Or he just want trade with you? How awful! Any idea why they would ask that? LOL. hilarious

Some important info is expected to be revealed about the fed tapering issue tomorrow - what do you guys think the outcome will be? Will the fed effectively taper or not in september?
If they - against all odds - announce tapering, we might see a drop in bitcoin (and all other real assets) I think immediate effects of macro-economics on bitcoin are still small, maybe after next bubble.
