Wondering if we are really about to launch again.  I would prefer a crash prior to another huge launch to be honest.

Crash is so last week.

Looks that way.

Why are people still posting here. Why not just let this thread die?
It's a good thread to populate your ignore list.
So you are adding yourself to his ignore list?  Grin

I hereby quit bitcointalk.
Please don't.  All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men leave bitcointalk.  Or something like that...

People who voted "Yes," think about this a little more. If the Bitcoin community was going to pull such a stunt, it would have to save it for a cataclysmic situation. If the feds somehow seized half of all bitcoins in existence, then it might be time to have a careful debate about this...and probably still not do it. But for this little bit of money?

It would destroy Bitcoin's reputation as impartial, unimpeachable, immutable money. Not only would it turn governments against us, it would also show people that money they receive could be taken from them if they lose in the court of public opinion. It would be like a giant billboard saying BITCOIN: YOUR MONEY AT THE WHIMS OF THE MASSES.

And some people say there's a clean line we can draw in the case of the feds. How about legitimately seized bitcoins, from real criminals? How about those of the big banks? How about large companies like Apple and Walmart, that have close ties with the government just by virtue of their size? How about pirateat40's stash? Why not anyone with a Scammer tag on bitcointalk? Heck, why not annul the bitcoins of all taxpayers, since they feed the government by not resisting?

This is the most dangerous idea to come about in a long time. Please, please, please think this through.

This.

Store of value. People will spend inflative fiat and store value in deflative bitcoin
considering that bitcoin's money supply is inflating, and will be for a very long time, i don't think these arguments make any sense.

Give it 10 years and bitcoin is inflating more slowly than above-ground gold reserves have historically.  And it will only get better with time.
People still seem to think gold is a decent store of value (me too, except if cryptos completely take over, which I could see happening) despite low but constant inflation.

On topic: bitcoinstore.com ?  Probably a lot less action, but still a decent business, no?

funny all the people in this thread bragging about their profits
i bet ya, for the same amount of people with profits in this thread there are people grinding their teeth in the shadows at these posts :p (not me, don't day trade :p)

I have had my share of losses too.  I admit them as well (well, at least some of them   Wink).

This is madness.  Grin

Madness? THIS IS BITCOIN!

Haha, knew that was coming.  Cheesy
Yup, thought it too  Grin.

I planned on getting some work done, instead I am going to bitch about how much more money I would have made if I had logged on half an hour earlier  Cry   Wink .

That sucks dude. I'm over 8% up for the morning. It would be worth it to take the day off and just trade today.

Yeah, I made 7% (in and out again), but I only played with a minimal amount.  If it had been around $88 still, instead of $108, I would have bought more with confidence.

I had loans coming into existence (and loaned out), so that the dollar amount of my existing lending offers no longer matched the dollar amount that available for lending (USD - USD credit total).
Happened again
1435  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: September 24, 2013, 04:06:50 AM
The lending engine is acting weird (I am still working on the old interface).  Amongst other things, I had loans coming into existence (and loaned out), so that the dollar amount of my existing lending offers no longer matched the dollar amount that available for lending (USD - USD credit total).
By now, that is normal again, but some other strange stuff happened too: I saw money available for lending, put in a lending offer, but now both the available money and the lending offer are gone again, and it appears as if the funds never became available at all (back in an older outstanding loan i guess).

I am beginning to think that Bitcoin is a project by U.S. intelligence agencies to cognitively infiltrate Austrian economic enthusiasts by way of educating them about how things got to be the way they are.
What lessons are being learned exactly?
1438  Economy / Speculation / Re: Ripples a threat to bitcoin? on: September 23, 2013, 05:20:16 PM
Quite a sober anaylsis, you probably right that fractional reserve lending with bitcoin is inevitable, but the thought of it makes me want to paint my face blue and run around shouting 'Freeeedom!!!'
Of course fractional reserve lending will take place.  By itself I don't think it is a bad thing, it's just that the system obscures somewhat that your money is being lent out/used for other purposes in order to gain a profit.  The advantage with bitcoin is that if you just want to preserve your money without counterparty risk, you can do this pretty easily, in a currency that won't be inflated away infinitely.
1439  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: September 22, 2013, 09:07:44 PM
We don't really need a chart thread here, anyway.
All it did was encourage circle jerks.

What's wrong with circle jerks?

Positive feedbacks are unsustainable.
That's how we get deflation ...
