The reality is, first, that regulation was going to happen. The reality is, first, bitcoin can't be regulated. And, second, if it can then bitcoin price will drop to zero and another better crypto coin that can't be regulated will emerge from the dark unregulated Internet. 99% of the value of bitcoin comes from the fact it can't be regulated. So, if it gets regulated then bye bye bitcoin and hello darkcoin! Simple as that.

Excellent piece. The best response I've seen.
yep, very good one. The parody can be summed up in one sentence. The consumer is forced to accept government protection and pay the corresponding price even if he/she doesn't want to! Pay for my protection or you'll lose all you have and this is an offer you can't refuse. Racket (crime)
A racket is a service that is fraudulently offered to solve a problem, such as for a problem that does not actually exist, will not be affected, or would not otherwise exist. Conducting a racket is racketeering.[1] Particularly, the potential problem may be caused by the same party that offers to solve it, although that fact may be concealed, with the specific intent to engender continual patronage for this party. A prototype is the protection racket, wherein a person or group indicates that they could protect a store from potential damage, damage that the same person or group would otherwise inflict, while the correlation of threat and protection may be more or less deniably veiled, distinguishing it from the more direct act of extortion.

Superintendent Lawsky said: “We recognize that – as the first state to put forward specially tailored rules for virtual currency firms – continued public feedback will be an important part of finalizing this regulatory framework. We look forward to carefully and thoughtfully reviewing public comments on our proposal.” What is the definition for a virtual currency firm? Receiving or transmitting virtual currency on behalf of consumers; Every ISP should be a virtual currency company?

Is it possible qubitcoin was created as kind of vaporware from the beginning? Just to compromise and spoil the idea for a quantum coin because qubitcoin is the most suitable name for such a coin?

The question is not about the right to participate. The question is why is Charles proud of that fact? It looks like a major inconsistency to me. It is like working on a new mail server app and in the same time promoting your project by saying that some members of your team worked in the local post office and were among the best postmen?!
BTW, why has Charles parted with BitShares and Invictus project? What happened to the 0.5 million VC there? Are his investors happy with current state of BitShares and Invictus?
Who says he's "proud"? To me it just sounded like he said it in passing. In a promo campaign you never say something that you don't take special pride of! At the risk of running in circles I think he merely stated it - not to show off or be proud of the fact - but as a way to showcase the credentials of the people involved in the project. He has showcased the credentials only of the GS people. Are they the most important members for this project?

My whole life is a promo campaign and I say plenty of things I want to burn and hide forever! Then find another job! You're not good at what you do.

My question is: Would you have preferred Charles lie about the past work experience of people involved? They have as much right to be involved in cryptocurrency as anyone here.

I won't invest a dime in a project where a major bank like GS have their finger in. I feel sorry for Vitalik and some other honest guys in the team. They've just been used.
Those guys quit Goldman Sachs. They are heroes of the financial revolution and you sir are an agent of disinformation! Oh, am I? Why would you work upon a crypto currency project and use the brand of a major bank to add trustworthiness to your project? Could you explain why putting the name of Goldman Sachs behind a project like Ethereum is a good thing? I'm ready to learn from you.

This is the new precedent set by Goldman Sachs advisors. I won't invest a dime in a project where a major bank like GS have their finger in. I feel sorry for Vitalik and some other honest guys in the team. They've just been used.

Looks like a well organized IPO, which kind of worries me.
... exactly. An attempt to create the "Matrix" but leave the really thorny questions of the crypto-world unresolved - the blockchain size infinity and txn fees derived out of fanciful anti-economics.

lclc, could you provide the manual of how people willing to start translations of OT and Moneychanger UI into their own languages should use your code to do that?
I already made a small documentation-file about how to start translating. It's in the documentation folder: https://github.com/Open-Transactions/Moneychanger/blob/master/documentation/translatingShould be very easy with the Qt Linguist tool (it's the same for all Qt applications). But yes, please don't start translating yet. The Qt Linguist is really a nice tool. My first impression is that not all English strings from OT and Moneychanger UI are included in the en_US.ts file. Indeed, if the first version isn't still ready it doesn't really matter as many strings will probably have to be changed. I suggest lclc get paid half of the bounty now and the other half when first translation is a fact, ie internationalization functionality is tested. But after all, FT is the lead. He decides how to proceed and I'll be perfectly fine with it.

Note that this bounty wasn't for the translations into various languages, but rather for the internationalization coding itself. Yes, exactly. lclc, could you provide the manual of how people willing to start translations of OT and Moneychanger UI into their own languages should use your code to do that?

Dividends will be paid in BTC, obviously. So, your decentralized exchange will need external feed for the BTC/USD exchange rate from a centralized exchange?! Nice. People can find solutions to every problem...
|
|
|
Likewise, it works for bonds. E.g. some company might issue USD-denominated bonds in form of colored coins, and if company is reputable, owning those bonds will be almost as good as owning USD. You can't issue USD-denominated bonds and use BTC as transactional currency! The decentralized exchange will work only if you issue BTC-denominated bonds. If you issue USD-denominated bonds you have to pay dividend in USD. How will you pay USD dividend in decentralized way?

Nah, they shouldn't get a scammer tag and instead a warning tag.... cause scammer are for taking money and giving nothing... so warning tag is good If scammer takes from you 1000 bucks and in exchange gives you 100 he is not a scammer because he still gives you something back!? Is that what you're saying?
