Yes but this thread is about the immutable chain which is ETC

Vitaliks team wanted to take Ethereum in a different direction than you. They got the miners, users and exchanges to follow them. So you created an alt.
lol
How do I create something that is already there?
How do I create something that is already present and I guard it from being killed?

For me what ethc will be a good gauge of, is who in the community supports theft!
The 'thief' has a contract signed with the 'victim'. The 'victim' decided not to honor the contract because they believe there is only one rule - might is right. Who is the thief?

(Its hilarious that ETC thread by @bitpop is the most heavy modded and deleted and censored thread on the forum now. OH THE IRONY)
Stop whining and start mining non-forked ether if you want to make some real money!
1864  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: July 24, 2016, 09:33:17 PM
There is a possibility that the developers will dump their ETC together with the hacker.
Great news. People that missed Ethereum 2 years ago will now have the opportunity to grab original ethers at great discount.

Great news for ppl wanting to lose money.

Why use money? People can now sell 1 forked ether and buy 14 original ethers. This is excellent opportunity that should not be missed.

Can someone give the ELI5 on why the forkers seem to be butthurt about ETC? Isn't that the whole idea of the fork? Two chains and all.

Because ETC is not legit.
Legit
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Legit is a slang abbreviation of legitimate.

Legitimacy
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Legitimate)
Legitimacy, from the Latin legitimare meaning "to make lawful"

So, who makes the laws on a smart contract blockchain?

Because:
ETH = ETH Classic
ETH != ETH Forked

Probably more realistically high 400's. Within a range but I think it's a leg down before more up. Everyone's had a taste of the bull and wants more but patience is likely a virtue this summer.
Too many people are expecting this. I personally know 4 persons that expect 6-7% drop in price to jump in with a lot of cash, but no luck so far. They're getting impatient by the day.

The main question burning a hole in every holders pocket: How can I simply and fast sell these ETC-coins without being in risk of loosing my regular Ether-tokens?
The main question burning a hole in every holder pocket: How can Ether-forked tokens be regular Ether-tokens?

I imagine when btc does finally resolve block size problem (through a hard fork) it will fly.
There is no btc blocksize problem.
Everything is the way it should be.
Full btc blocks is a good indicator that tx fees are low and should go higher.

I think it is good for free choice and freedom.
Ethereum forkers don't care about free choice and freedom. The only thing they care about is getting back money they buried in the DAO.

network seem pretty secure to me and most others
More of the same... hypocrisy!

- Network seems pretty secure!
- Then why would you attack it?
- To try to make it insecure!
- Why would you try to make it insecure?
- Because if it is insecure it deserves to be attacked...

1873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: July 24, 2016, 01:41:35 PM
if the network is not secure enough to withstand attack it doesn't deserve to be.
The 'attacker' showed eth network is not secure. Instead of recognizing that eth network doesn't deserve to be you tried to kill the messenger? Isn't that called hypocrisy when your words are exactly opposite of what you do?

or the start of the 51% attack
So, you're going to attack me because I don't agree with you?
How far the lunacy of Ethereum forkers can go?

What motives has Poloniex for trading the old chain. They could be be in an alliance with the dao hacker. This could go very badly for Poloniex. They are providing a method of exchanging stolen ether.
Many questions huh?

For instance, there is another set of questions:
What motives has Kraken for trading new chain? They could be in alliance with ether forkers. This could go badly for Kraken. They are providing method of exchanging stolen ether.

My personal take on this is that Poloniex are acting in a more balanced and fair way giving space for both forked and classic ethers to be traded! While Kraken have sided with the forkers.

@becoin

I hope you understand that this line of argument hurts BTC as well.

The block size HF issue in BTC was dead before this fud storm happened. Now it seems like people think any HF ever is a bad thing.

And we both know BTC will eventually probably need a HF.
Not all HFs are bad. This was already explained above.
Ethereum HF is a free lesson for us why HFs should not be done for the reason Eth HF was done!

I really wish success to classic ETH. Lets see how this unfolds!
1877  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: July 24, 2016, 10:43:23 AM

If you want to be part of the Dapp / Smart Contract revolution: Look out for some cheap ETH!
Exactly. People that have missed Ethereum when it was created now have the opportunity to buy really cheap classic ethers on the original eth blockchain. What is the point of buying overpriced forked ethers?

I explained why. Read it again, please.
Nope. You didn't!
Except maybe that eth forked has developers while eth classic doesn't. But that is not true!

Do I need devs that missed a gaping security hole? No.
Do I need devs that act as MLM agents to a failed project like DAO? No.
Do I need other devs like the "attacker" that proved unquestionably he is smarter than all pro-fork eth devs all together? Yes.

So? What do you explain? Read it again, please.

If there are any noobs reading this thread:

ETH is currently being used to prove that a BTC HF is a bad idea.

Not every HF is a bad idea.

Ethers of the "attacker" are not equal to Vitalik's ethers! Bad HF are only those that shrink and limit fungibility of the monetary asset. Ethereum HF is the worst possible HF. It not only limits the fungibility of eth coin but didn't add any value in terms of quality, functionality, or robustness!
1880  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: July 24, 2016, 09:25:19 AM
Wow. Mining the original ethereum blockchain is much more profitable now for eth miners!
