2461  Other / Beginners & Help / possible to use up ALL wallet address combinations? on: July 20, 2011, 08:42:49 AM
if wallet address don't ever get recycled, then that means there are only a predetermined set amount of wallet address, just like the amount of bitcoins that's able to be mined. if this is the case, then what happens after all the addresses gets used up? i suck at statistics, but what's the total amount available? let me know if my math is correct/wrong:

34 characters
24 capital letters
25 lower case letters
9 numbers

(24 x25 x9)^34 = about 7.97 x (10^126)?

hmm maybe this should belong in the newbie section

Anyone here do a dwolla dispute before how long do they usually take?

i didn't exactly file a dispute, but i tried to have them stop my pending transaction before it clears into his account.

i tried calling on during the weekend, but they only work during normal business hours, so i left them a voicemail and also sent an email. then first thing monday, i woke up at 6am PST, which was right when they opened at 8am CST, to call them and let them know about this. basically dwolla can't just cancel the transaction that i already initiated, so the only option they gave me was to suspend my account. what this does it not allow any money going into or out of my dwolla account, but also the pending $410 will NOT go to the asshole scammer. it will still get withdrawn from my bank account, but it will go directly to dwolla instead, which then i'll need to file a dispute with my bank to get it back. but the most important thing is that it does not get sent to the asshole. basically i had my own dwolla account frozen and locked, i can't even log on for the time being. so much hassle  Angry

what dwolla really needs to do is also lock the asshole's account so that he's not able to scam anyone else's money or withdraw that money into his bank account. is your dwolla payment sent directly from your bank account or did you already have money in dwolla to send? if you sent money from your dwolla to his dwolla, it's instant payment, which i'm pretty sure he already withdrew it into his bank account. if that's the case, i'm not sure you can just pull that money out from his bank account, into dwolla, then back into your dwolla. but if your money is still in his dwolla, then you can probably take it back after filing a dwolla dispute. that's why dwolla really needs to freeze his account too.

So he's still not listed a a scammer?

Hope that gets updated soon.
i already updated the title of the thread
2463  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] 3x5830 Sapphires - $250 for today LA Area for pickup on: July 20, 2011, 07:10:29 AM
if you don't like to ship and you still have these in a couple days, i can probably drive to your place to pick them up, i'm relatively local from you. i can't do it right away though, need to pay credit card first and because as you probably already know, i just got scammed over $800

and btw, if you're going to ship it to someone else, then you can fit all 3 cards in a USPS large priority flat rate box, which will only cost $15 no matter where you ship. it's not going to be $50 to ship all 3.
2464  Economy / Goods / Re: (possible) SCAM ALERT: user Leon on: July 20, 2011, 05:51:37 AM
I guess we can change it from (Possible) to [Confirmed] ?
done
2465  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: flash drive for OS on: July 20, 2011, 03:02:47 AM
make sure you get a QUALITY flash drive.
I have 3x Kingston 4gb drives that came as "FREE" from newegg purchases before, and they are nothing but trouble.
Ubuntu would crash, fail to start, says the drive is corrupt, and other stuff.
While my other machines with Patriot and Corsair flash have been running almost flawlessly!
Again, QUALITY flash drive is key.
In the mean time, I am switching the POS kingston drives with real HDDs.

there are just so many flash drives. how is "quality" measured, and how can i tell which one is a "quality" one for a main OS usage? flash drives are not reviewed as much as SSD, so i almost know nothing about flash drive specs.
2466  Economy / Goods / Re: (possible) SCAM ALERT: user Leon on: July 19, 2011, 11:05:09 PM
there are 5 confirmed people that has a simultaneous deal with Leon right now, maybe more, and no one has gotten anything or a refund yet. it's past 5pm CST already, and my payment he withdrew from dwolla already cleared in his bank. so either he should be me refunding very soon, or he's already run off with it.

NOW things are getting interesting!

see what happens when he's under no obligation to provide provide any proof like you mentioned earlier? it's not that he doesn't want to provide the proof, he CAN'T provide the proof. he easily provided screenshots of withdrawing my money, yet unable to take a screenshot of his newegg invoice of the items he supposedly owns.
2467  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 4x 5850 Setup, Minimum PSU needed? on: July 19, 2011, 09:06:24 AM
my rig with 4x5830 sapphires with clocks 1000/300 have power consumption = 786 W

That seems high.  My 4x5830 Sapphires with clocks at 998/300 are 640W-650W at the wall with a Kill-A-Watt meter.

Cheers,
Kermee
that's because you guys don't take into account power supply efficiency and other hardware like the motherboard and CPU. the DC power draw should be relatively the same, but a PSU with 80+ bronze will suck more juice from the wall than a 80+ gold PSU.
2468  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 4x 5850 Setup, Minimum PSU needed? on: July 19, 2011, 06:16:30 AM
i have 3x5850 and 1x5870 running on a corsair 800w psu
all overclocked with default voltages
hey i have almost the same exact setup. running 3x 5850 and 1x 5870 all overclocked, one 5850 overvolted, using a OCZ 850w gold efficiency. it draws about 750w from the wall.
2469  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 100000 BTC for Wikileaks! on: July 19, 2011, 06:08:36 AM

2470  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How to maximize a 5830? on: July 19, 2011, 01:57:18 AM
go to the MSI folder located in your program files folder, and open the afterburner config file. then change the unofficial overclocking mode form 0 to 1, and copy and paste this in the EULA:  I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it. save that file, and restart afterburner. your upper limit should increase past 900mhz  Wink

EULA?

ya, did you find it? the EULA is the first line of the last paragraph in the config file. i forgot to mention that you have to open the config file with either notepad or wordpad. then copy and paste the bold text i just typed into that EULA area.

2472  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / HD6xxx memory underclocking to 300mhz possible? on: July 19, 2011, 01:31:58 AM
i have a HD6570 and i get almost 100mhash/s out of it after overclocking. however when i set the memory clocks to like 200-300mhz, the memory settings don't "stick" and just reverts back. i had this same experience with the 6950 i use to have. is this one of the characteristics of the HD6000 series? or am i doing something wrong?
2473  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How to maximize a 5830? on: July 19, 2011, 01:27:18 AM
try to use MSI afterburner or sapphire trixx. the trixx software will allow you to change the voltage i believe. and also, most 5830's are stable with core over 900mhz, so try bumping up your core clocks a little.
2474  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Death to the mercenary miners! on: July 18, 2011, 11:14:19 PM
How'd you get your coins?  Oh yea, Miners who sold them.

Nuff said.
yes but the amount of coins newly introduced into the market is less than the old coins that are constantly being bought and sold again.
2475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much of your net worth stored in Bitcoins? on: July 18, 2011, 11:02:22 PM
i'm in the way negatives right now and trying to make it back. i'm not even close to breaking even with hardware costs yet, given the recept BTC value

2477  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 100000 BTC for Wikileaks! on: July 18, 2011, 10:56:30 PM
Server hosting that is reasonably safe from government interference is VERY expensive.
why is this? it's not like they have to pay the gov hush money or to leave them alone...

And here is the Block Explorer record of their donations to this address: http://blockexplorer.com/address/1HB5XMLmzFVj8ALj6mfBsbifRoD4miY36v
oh crap OP, you just got owned. there's people that already sent over 150 BTC to that address. you're no king, you're not even good enough to be a peasant (no offense) lol. i doubt you can come close to that kind of donation
2479  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dwolla E-mails on: July 18, 2011, 08:16:54 PM
